- I have been learning about salmon fishing on the Vedder river for last 3 years.
After taking a week off from work, I was finally able to fish Vedder river for salmon for 2 days and it was all worth it

Great video , one advice I would give is , when you jog up , as your rod goes down , pick up the slack with your reel , so you are in direct contact with your jog all the time while it’s falling down , you will be much more successful detecting bites and hooking fish .
Cheers , keep up the good work
@@Ribolovac22 thanks for the tip, will try it next time I am out. It makes so much sense.
Hey I was fishing your second spot on Tuesday haha! I also left around 11. No luck for me looking for coho on the fly. That was my first time fishing the vedder too. One guy caught his limit of coho across the river from me using a spoon.
@@chrisluehmann3094 sorry to hear that bro. Hopefully it will be productive again in a few days after the water level drops. It is surely a nice fly spot.
well filmed, well fished. From one hatchery volunteer to another, good video. The twitching may be easier with a lighter thinner (more costly) rod and light reel. My experience anyway, and balanced so that the rod sits horizontal when held lightly in the hand. I dont fish the ved myself but you made it work with a very good outlook and attitude
@@lovethemack thank you. These words are definitely motivational.
I can only imagine the amount of effort you guys put in at such a big hatchery. Appreciate your hard work ❤️
Yes I need to get salmon specific gear, hopefully before the next season.
Nicely done bro! Haven't had any luck on jigs yet this year 🤔 the spinner has been my most productive lure so far with spoons in second place. Last year jigs out fished everything for me though.. Who knows why lol. You've inspired me to get twitching again!
Thanks man!
Last year it was all spinners for me for coho and didn't even hook one on the spinner this year.
Just jgs are working for me so far and the chums are getting the spoon before coho's lol
First light? Looks like night to me if you need a flashligbt to see.
@@steelhead1414 what time is the first light?
Good stuff man. I didn't fish the vedder until about 2yrs ago. Pretty much everyone I've met on the vedder has been friendly. Never seen a guy collecting heads before. Thought you needed heads to prove ID and length if you see a CO.
Thanks bro!
Maybe you always avoided the weekends? On Thanksgiving stat it was a sshow. Some of the dheads were getting mad even for walking by.
I had heard about the head recovery program before. They give some kind of official receipt that you can produce to DFO if asked.
congrats! is this before the flood?
@@wuquanchi thanks, yeah couple days before
Looks like the new peach road eh? On vedder road? I went once didint like it much but it was like 2 pm by then lots of flossers
It was too dark when I parked.
But I think all the spots on Vedder are hit and miss.
There were at least 100 people on this spot on the weekend.
