Just put this head unit in my Lx450. Got the AP on phone and started playing with it. I was specifically looking for a decent sounding stereo. Very impressed with the adjustable sound quality for the price. And I love the giant volume knob. Highly recommended. Just run an amp to reach potential.

I just bought a single DIN version of this mvh-s310bt. The features in the app sold me on it and I got it on a smoking deal. No immediate use for it but it was a great deal considering the features.
I have the single din 5200BT model and its well worth the low price. Biggest con is the cd mech is weak and skips easy. Biggest pro is usb format versatility and the tuning capabilities are solid. Works well with my Zapco 6 channel amp that prefers a really low signal volt input :)
With the 2V RCA output, I would try what Kip from Kicker suggested, you get better signal quality by running the speaker outputs of the HU to the speaker level inputs of the outboard amp or use a LOC if your amp does not have speaker level inputs.
What I have recently learned about my pioneer p99rs is that the louder the pre amp volume, the much better the bass response and listening experience, so you might actually get a much better sound using the preouts at a higher volume and a lower output voltage vs a lower volume but higher voltage on the speaker outputs
Kip had said most preamp output are stepped down off the built in amps output anyway so the speaker level output has a larger voltage potential and the noise level (which remains constant) is actually lower on the speaker outputs because of this noise level relativity. Edit: Kip, if you see this, do i get a T-shirt for paying attention in class? 🤔 😇 just asking......
If your amp has high level balanced inputs then yes that is a viable option. But LOCs are a LAST resort! Most of them use cheapO audio transformers and will do more harm to your sound than a low voltage RCA would. The only decent LOCs are the audiosource ones and by the time you spend $ on one of those you may as well buy a head unit with a 4v out
@@303nitzubishi4 Off the DAC, there will be opamps for I/V conversion and to boost the signal from a microvolts level to something useful. The RCA outputs would come off the opamps, which a pre the single TDA 4 channel all-in-one audio amplifier. You can't run an amplifier straight off the DAC. Even if you could, that would be the worst way possible to make your RCA outputs.
I have one of these in my 2000 Ranger pickup. I have spent my life in the radio engineering field. I can say without hesitation, this radio/system is great. The 13 band E Q gets the best sound out of whatever you have, I added a Dual 10" sub and a Dual 600 watt amp to the subwoofer outputs, and I have everything I want. I recommend it.
I've got one of these in my 04 civic, it's good quality. Wish you could change the display color, but overall I'd recomend it. Got mine about 6 months ago for $110
Are the rca outs all the same so would they clip all the same? I have mine tuned to 47 vol but only get .1v I’ll be running amp for speakers and amp for sub so could I go above like maybe 55 or so
Ive used the app once or twice on a similar unit, but in a vehicle that wasn't set up to take advantage of all the features. I'm gonna have to look into it a bit more in the future. Nice video as usual.

I have the MVH-s622bt and when I set my gains and crossovers with the dd1 and cc1, the dd1 pick up 0 distortion at full 62/62 on both 40hz and 1kz….but I thought I was wrong so I did it 2 times after that and still kept getting 0 distortion at 62/62….yes I used the 0 DB 40hz and 0db 1kz to test the HU

I tell people all the time that the 75% rule is BS because even if you by the that rule who’s to say the HU won’t clip before 75% 🤷🏽♂️…..I like the S622bt digital media receiver. I’m considering the Sony DSX-GS900 since the internal amp is 45watts RMS, even though I’ll still add Skar AMPs and Skar Subs, it would be a great HU to have just in case of an accident and you have to start over slowly like I am
Question for you I just removed a Pioneer AVH-110 from my Jeep because it has a broken screen. I picked up an FH-S52BT instead and it appears to use the exact same wiring, harness and plug-in’s in the back. I have full power and it’s reading radio stations fine but I have absolutely no sound whatsoever. any help is appreciated. I don’t know what to do here.
Kudos for showing clipping levels for both line level outputs and RCA preouts. The RCA output not even registering until nearly 50 on the volume is strange. I'm not sure why they are doing this since most people will use the line level outputs for door/dash speakers and run a amp on the rca's. Seems this forces you to run amp gain higher than you should have to. I don't like that trend.
@@HifiVega Is there a way to measure the SNR of both the line level outputs and RCA outputs? The clipping results seem to indicate the RCA preouts are not simply jumpered from the line level outputs (a topic I recnekty got into a debate about with a Kicker rep who was pushing their FIT+ tech claiming many head units just connect them internally and stick pull down resistors inline to lower voltage to 2-4v.). They claim the quality of the signal coming out of the line level outputs today is as good as the RCA outputs, or conversely that today's head unit RCA outputs are not providing a cleaner signal than line level. But that doesn't agree with what I've seen and certainly doesn't agree with your results here on this model. Might be an interesting topic for the podcast.
This 80$ headunit is better then the one i bought today , i bought the joybring JOY-D006 touch screen carplay radio and it blew that one out of the water the bass and high notes are way better get way more moneys worth with this one

You should do the JVC KW940bts next I have the 930 but I don't know if it's worth the upgrade mine got 2 preouts per rca channel and the new one got 4 preouts
It's amazing how much u get for your money in ice today. Yeah you can drop a load on a good touch unit but it won't sound better and screens on big phones are not far size of double dins and much more responsive.

I have this pioneer. Personally I’m not impressed. Budget wise it’s a good unit. But you could also purchase a touchscreen for roughly the same price point. And probably have 4 volt rca’s. Call quality is good 👍 overall you would need to be a professional to understand some of its functions and features.

Just installed this unit with 4 pioneer speakers in my freightliner cascadia. Great sound and fine tuning which helps a great deal when the engine is drowning out the lows. Think i paid $85 for it at walmart.
Wayback in the day I ran Clarion now I have been using Pioneer for the last 15 years. Out of the Pioneer head unit the one you have is not the best looking one. I like the touchscreens if I'm going to use a double din

Variance from unit to unit is common and often some of these HU’s can go full tilt with no distortion

The Kenwood (around the same price) have 2.5v preout and digital time alignment.

When you were doing the dyno test, how many channels were driven? 1, 2, or 4?
All 4, but on these hu’s they seem to do the same power wether the power supply is fully loaded or not

Nope no crossover network just a couple of high pass for front and rear and a low pass for sub

When using Bluetooth is the music as loud as a cd? Most my units are quiet with Bluetooth and it drives me nuts.
The BT isn’t as loud as playing cd’s, but you can use the SLA adjustment to offset it
