    I love Lyon!! It’s such an awesome city. It’s like you are in a big city but people don’t rush as much like in Paris. I think Lyon is the second or third big city in France after Paris

      Yep, after Marseilles!

      I completely agree! It's like a Petit Paris, without the edges of a larger city.

    Lovely Vid! Finally a vid on Lyon (there's not many on youtube.) I was wondering what made you pick Lyon besides other cities? Would love to get more insight from you as I would love to go there for exchange.

      Hi Tina, that is a great question! To be honest, Lyon was the only option available to me for university exchange partners with my home uni. If Paris was on the cards, I may have considered it, but then again I did hear from a few friends who studied in Paris that it was quite overwhelming because of the sheer size and also the costs of living there are substantially different. Lyon is sometimes called a 'Petit Paris', because it has the rivers running through and could sometimes be mistaken for Paris with its similar Haussmann architecture. Lyon has everything Paris has to offer and MORE! Its geographical situation in France means that it is very central in Europe, and there are plenty of reasonably cheap flights from Lyon-Saint Exupéry - Lyon's airport. It is also the gastronomic capital of France, which was super exciting for me, being a major foodie! Hopefully this answers your question? If you ever wanna chat more about it, feel free to get in touch with me over Instagram or Facebook. ☺️

    Hello! I just recently accepted an english teaching assistant job in Lyon, France, however my monthly stipend will be about 900 euros, are there any resources for affordable studios?

    • @LegallyBlondeAbroad
      @LegallyBlondeAbroad  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Daniel Schaper hey Daniel! Congrats on the new job post. In terms of finding accommodation like a studio, I’d recommend La Carte des Colocs website. It’s in French though so I’m assuming you’ve got a base level to navigate this site ?
      Otherwise Crous are a university based organisation that list studios. But with other students - so not sure whether that’s up your alley or not !

    Hi, I am going to go Lyon from 31 August 2022 to 30 April 2023. I am very upset because I cannot find out any accommodations. I might die in Lyon.

    Not sure if you still look at these comments, but do you know any mates or anyone that is a half-term student. Looking for accom for 4-6 months. Bit harder I'm guessing. Any suggestions or tips ?

    • @LegallyBlondeAbroad
      @LegallyBlondeAbroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jack! Unfortunately I don’t have any friends currently in Lyon as I wrapped up my exchange early last year. However I can recommend you look at La Carte des Colocs to find like minded flatmates, or alternatively make a post on the Erasmus Lyon page - you can connect with other students (both local and abroad) who might be keen to link up for accommodation. Feel free to message me on Instagram if you want to chat more !

      You can study in either the SELF or DEUF programme which offers French or English classes.

    Hi! Thank you for this video!☺️ I hope I can go next semester to an exchange to Lyon.🤞 Just one question is the Studea Garibaldi Berthelot Private Residence or Crous? I check the website of Association Lyon 3 International but I do not know which to choose.

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm an American trying to find a studio in Lyon for next semester. I'll be living with my French girlfriend. Do you have any recommendations for websites that can help? Also, are there any bad areas/streets I should avoid living on?

    • @LegallyBlondeAbroad

      TuPapiJ Hey there ! So stoked for you guys to come to Lyon. It’s such an epic student city. I recommend this website here: www.associnterlyon3.fr/en/accommodation
      If you click on “accomodation” in the menu you’ll see a list of residences with details on each. It’s not a very visually appealing site but it’s good to get a list of places, of which you can then go ahead and do some further googling.
      I also recommend La Carte des Colocs, which is a website that facilitates the advertisement and searching of roommates. They have a Facebook page specifically for Lyon, where you can make an announcement to locals describing exactly what you’re after.
      Happy searching and do get in touch via the Social Media links on my channel if you have any more Q’s!

      Hey! My rent was €400 per month. I think this was slightly on the cheaper side but this was because I organised it privately rather than through an agency.

    how far is Geneva from Lyon to travel daily?

    • @Vespartian
      @Vespartian 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Daily it's a bit far, about 1h30/2h by car

    • @jeromevilleray3386
      @jeromevilleray3386 ปีที่แล้ว

      110km Lyon to Geneva by highway , nearly 1h30-2h by car (3h in peak hours) 25e (maybe 30e now with actual HARD inflation ... ) for highway toll ... You can test trains (maybe less expensive than car , toll and fuel ...) , by car there is a tax at france-switzerland frontier if your car come to the first time in Switzerland (a special switzerland highway tax to stick on windshield car ... But i have forgot how many euro or $ is this tax ... You pay one time for a year , if you can have a car with the 2023 sticker : You don't have to pay)
      Yes its special to go to Geneva from Lyon with this switzerland highway tax (in addition with toll in France !!!) , best thing to do if your car don't have the 2023 stick : prepare nearly 100e / $ for paying french toll , then the switzerland 2023 highway stick
      You really want to go to Geneva by car ? xD

    • @jeromevilleray3386
      @jeromevilleray3386 ปีที่แล้ว

      In switzerland there have no toll , the sticker is the year's tax for all switzerland highways , but expensive if just to come one time to Geneva by car , by train is maybe a better idea if you come just one time

    • @jeromevilleray3386
      @jeromevilleray3386 ปีที่แล้ว

      a possibility : You take small road by living Highway in France to Bellegarde town (easy to find on panels on the french Highway A40) , then you go to switzerland by small old road , you pass the frontier at "Divonnes les bains" (its a Casino frontier town) : Without the sticker highway tax , it goes ! You are not on the highway ... But switzerland frontier guards maybe suspicious (lot of traffics , money traffics betwen France and switzerland ...) but if you are nothing to blaming you : Where is the problem : ) then you go to Geneva by Divonnes by small road et voila : )

    • @jeromevilleray3386
      @jeromevilleray3386 ปีที่แล้ว

      leaving highway , not "living" oh my god , sorry for my crap english but its important informations if you want to go in Switzerland by France but not by the Highways to avoid the sticker tax at frontier on the Highway A40 just near Geneva , because its very expensive for just one trip to Geneva
