    I just made a recurve riser using all power tools - mad respect for going at it with a knife, rasp and handsaw. I'm sure your muscles ached after that one!

    I’ll tell you one thing for a guy with no electric tools you did a wonderful job. Your bow looks like one that you purchased from a sporting good store. Don Powell, Tyler,Texas. USA ACHERY CHAMPION.

    Very cool indeed. I've thought about doing that also with an old pair of skis. And for u to make that with only a drill for power tool , and the rest by hand is absolutely awesome. Well done sir.

    for those that ask whether these are downhill or cross-country skis the easiest way to tell by the width, downhill are wider than cross country and have a lower or shorter tip, the cross country skies have a higher longer tip and on the bottom where the boots strap on the cross-country skis will have a grip pattern for pushing off on the trails where downhill skis will be smooth and rely on less friction

    • @triumphmanful
      @triumphmanful 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mine (cross country ) have fishscale pattern on bottom, but I won't sacrifice them for a bow. Just found a pair of Rossignols, like new, but really don't need a bow that bad. Make my bows from scratch, my ash, maple, birch , hickory trees from my land. I am very lucky to have plenty of trees. Thanks anyway !

    I actualy make those and sell them..Each i make is around 45-55 lbs but day ago i made bow 65lbs its so hard . I didnt remove aluminium and actualy it contained some extra in betwen wood so its rlly hard xD. Great job on handle.I keep it very simple.

    • @WeaponTutorials
      @WeaponTutorials  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you only want to make it funcional, you can probably make it in less than hour. I believe it would still be very powerful bow. 65lbs is quite hard, that's even enough for compound bow.

    I've seen this project done before and I've been told you get much closer to takedown with downhill skis than cross country. I'm assuming that's what you used. My problem is, I'm not a skier. Could someone tell me how to tell downhill from cross country skis? Thank you! Been wanting to do this project for years.

    • @WeaponTutorials
      @WeaponTutorials  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not a skier too, and to be honest I have no idea about types of skis, I just found the cheapest possible on net (for like 5$) and started making it and it turned out very powerful. I'll upload a shooting test in few days

      be more aware of the material they`r made of rather than the shape, most are apoxy and that`s good stay away from wood skis, some are reinforced with fiberglass so go for those, it should be written on them ;) i`m in the process of making one now, old 2nd hand skis are very cheap and they do nicely

    looks good, but i personally would have epoxied the nuts in place then used hex drive bolt to secure the limbs, or epoxy the bolts in place and use some heavy duty wingnuts to be able to tighten a bit more securely. its a little uglier but i think it might be a bit more secure, for peace of mind purposes. i have seen a poorly secured limb snap from a bolt not being tight enough. the user couldn't tighten anymore by hand, and figured it was good. they ended up with a gash on their forehead and a concussion. ouch.

    • @WeaponTutorials
      @WeaponTutorials  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll probably change the bolts and fill the hole where nut goes with epoxy or something, and sand it again and then just paint it. But for now it holds pretty good, it seems very tight. Thanks!
