Bow Building with Big Jim - "The Details"

Big Jim builds custom longbows and recurves for traditional archers with several goals in mind, among the top priorities is customer satisfaction. The details in every aspect of a bow build is immense. The sourcing of raw materials, the break down of large chunks of wood into manageable sized pieces, and finally the discovery of highly figured woods within the slab. That's the good stuff, the hidden beauty behind the bark.

The 56"Mountain Monarch I got last year at Cloverdale is my go to hunting bow. The 58" Thunderchild I got this year is my go to longbow. Thanks for 2 great shooting bows.

My dad brought a homemade bow too hospital an my birth! Friend, Elola says, "Really Joe"!? I bought a custom bow with beautiful wood but it wasn't fast an snappy enough! So I didn't worry about college archery class where we shot 6 arrows at 6 targets for 36 total score! My target partner an I shot 6 bulleyes each so instructor made us class instructors! Everyone in class started watching us shoot another set of bulleyes. Then student from school heard yells an joined in. We felt like robinhood shooting for golden arrow. We shot last arrow together for 72 consecutive bulls! Thanks for memory!
