year:2023. I dont know how many times ive watched this already, but still brings a tear to ones eye! heroic perfomance from the Japanese. who's watching this years world cup??
I'm a Kiwi and I know how you feel, I get the same feeling when you guys beat us... ;) Really though, it was a magic moment for Japanese rugby. Watching it again, my favourite part of the game was SA's first try, nobody really celebrated like it was just going to one of many, but nope!
Possibly the most intense 10 minutes I've seen so far 1. Leitch making 3 carries 2. Most aggressive tackling and rucking 3. Japanese keeping possession like their life depended on it A rugby miracle indeed
I’m a South African in 2024 and i still watch this game!! Gives me goosebumps everytime, my throat literally closes!! Still so proud and happy for this Japanese team 🇯🇵💥💥💥💥
@@mohaukobe7872 I wouldn´t say this is the greatest world cup game, I think that´s reserved for All Blacks vs South Africa 2015 Semi Final. But this was probably the best game in general for the spirit of rugby.
I've watched rugby for almost 30 years, and for me, it was, without a doubt, the greatest game I've ever watched. I'll never forget the final 10 minutes of this game till the day I die. I was a doe hard scot turned japanese for that moment in time. You really had to see it live to grasp the utter insaneness of watching that happen.
The thing was. They weren't taking it lightly at all. South Africa showed up to play. Japan just simply outclassed them that day. They had the heart of a team that was going to win or die trying.
No need to be ashamed. That they beat the All Blacks greatest rivals is a big big deal. They've nearly beaten us since as well. Maybe it's our turn this world cup.
After the Samoa game this morning, worn my Japan Jersey to office and started to give chocolates out. Now having lunch and had to come back to see this. Go Japan!!
No one could have seen it coming but finally the Japanese can be proud of their team. if I almost thought that would be it, I would be wrong and it wouldn't be the last.
It's the 2023 WC and as an England fan I've come here to watch for maybe a little hope before our semi against the Boks. We're very much the underdogs and not expected to win but then Japan weren't expected to either!
When Goromaru, a Japanese kicker, was appointed to represent Japan, he was highly praised for his kicking accuracy, and was unhappy with the large number of foreigners on the team. However, as he continued to train hard with them, he felt happy that everyone on the team was getting stronger with the same mindset, regardless of nationality, and he began to put in his own dedicated efforts.
Mate that was an amazing game well done no one in the whole world would of predicted that odds at the tab not only head to head but 12 and under cool 😎
No one gave Japan a chance. Bravo. Italy has beaten the Springboks , Wales have done it, England done it many times, Ireland has done it, so too Argentina done it 3times, ONLY STRONG TEAM THAT HAVE NEVER BEATEN SPRINGBOKS is SCOTLAND, THEY should watch this and the Italy games Over and Over.
15:13 Japan national team coach Eddie Jones also instructed the players to "Choose a draw and get three points with a kick" in the final play, but the players chose to go for the scrum to win, contrary to the instructions. Eddie apparently kicked the bench in anger at that time. But the result was...
I think they would of beaten anyone that day ...match had everything...exciting/drama/emotions ..now Eddie's in the same position 2023 I wonder if history will repeat for the underdog Australia 🇦🇺
During the first half of this game I was talking on skype to my girlfriend in California, I thought that I knew the outcome. At halftime I checked the score. Twice! Then said "gotta go babe, something has just come up!" No regrets!
South Africa are one of the powerhouse nations of rugby. They have won the World Cup 3 times ( twice when this game was played). Japan on the other hand were ranked as the 13th best team in the world going into this tournament. The Rugby World Cup tournament starts with a bunch of pool games where the strongest teams are pitted against much weaker sides before going onto the finals stage of the competition. Normally a strong team like South Africa would rest some of their better players when they play the weaker teams 1st up, to keep those players fresh for the finals but South Africa chose to put their best team on the field to give them some game time together. Because of all these factors it was expected to be a very easy win for South Africa, being a very strong team against a much weaker Japanese team. Japan winning was an incredible upset that almost no-one expected could happen.
at that time, Japan had participated in seven world cups without much success, wining only one match in total (of 28). South Africa was already a big ruby nation, two times world champion. It is like in football Brazil or Italy were defeated by Bangladesh or Lichtenstein and not by 1-0, but after a goal thriller like 4-3.
We have had our vengeance, beating Japan in Japan and then going on to win the world cup and having their crown prince and future Emperor personally handing us the trophy 😁 I would say scores are settled….more than settled 😂🤣😂

Yep just watched it after Fiji were robbed tonight. Love the emerging nations.
This is the year I've discovered the sport of rugby, and I was hoked ever since. I'm enjoying this year's RWC.
South Africa win again but what a great world cup it was.

It’s 2023 and I’m still celebrating. Proud for Japan and proud for being Asian
Proud for being an Asian??? What did you being an Asian contributed to this event???

It truly was a miracle what eddie jones was able to do I cannot imagine being there at the time
Leitch Michael is one of my all-time favourite players. I really hope he gets a lot of game time this World Cup.
いつ見ても、何回見ても、泣ける😢
Reckon this might be one of the top sporting moments of all time
It still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up! What a match!
The greatest World Cup game in rugby world cup history by far.

This match taught the springboks not to take any games lightly and was a lesson learnt that helped them win the World Cup 4 years later…

seeing security and police not able to contain their smile at the end along with the public is quite something too
Well done Japan! What an amazing game!
The best ever match, absolute determination, more of this Japan😊
We glad we could be part of something special for them.. 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦💪

I have watched this match highlights more than 5 times. And now back in 2024 watching it again.

The greatest RWC upset. Couldn't happen to two more deserving teams. 😊

A brilliant game, I watched it live with a South African friend, he was not impressed!
Now this is 1 way to get hyped for RWC23

The.Brighton.Miracle!
Everyone goes on about the last try, and rightly so, but the Gorumaru try was absolutely sensational rugby.
The Miracle of Brighton 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 still great to see all those Sewth Efrikans crying in Their beer 🤣
As a proud Bokke, this game hurt but also bought joy cause although Japan won it was a major victory for Rugby

Very entertaining match. That Japanese player just missing that last conversion on purpose just because they already won was hilarious 😂😂😂

When this channel is run by English people who are still sour after we gave them a hiding in the final what do you expect?

the most best match ever men 👍
So the big question is for me. Was Japans form in 2019 a product of Eddies work? How much did Jaime Joseph do or was it already done
Eddie jones created a competitive Japanese team from the ground up. Jamie Joseph kept it going.
I came back here after New Zealand beat Japan 64-19
