    question -- are you able to sod over a french drain? have my piping and geo textile drainage non-woven fabric on the way, going to wrap the whole system like in your videos, but am I able to leave the trench a couple inches below grade, add some top soil and new sod, or no? Thanks for the informative videos!

      Only with our Fabric and I will do a video for you explaining why

      you can... But heres the catch, your soil type and grade. You will signifiactly reduce the collection rate in certain circumstances and risk water "jumping" over the drain if flowing fast enough

    Great stuff! Quick question...I have river rock, roughly 2-3 inches each that I'm removing from flower beds. Is this kind of rock sufficient to put inside the fabric with the tile? Or does it HAVE to be smaller? Thank you!

    I used both methods because of the soft soil. A french drain to help dryout the soil, and a surface drain to stop puddling near my gates. I like both systems.

    Can you put more consulting packages up on your website? I am ready to buy one and I have called and emailed your office. They told me I just have to wait until more are added. Please add some more consulting packages to your website.

    You should do a video clarifying your coverage area because most viewers are not in your area. Those same people would like to hear you speak of some sort of process to have the drain installed at their location.

    Couldn't the soil's ability to intake water be calculated using Ksat values (including the sod). If I need to remove 134 GPM with a Ksat value of .4 to 1.4 inches per hour.... then I'd need **ft of french drain or **ft of open french drain.

    So when you wrap the stone/pipe with the fabric you put stones on top of that then dirt then sod?

    I agree completely what you're saying if you're in a certain part of the country Texas surface boxes work well

    So what if you wrap and backfill with rock, but also add something to catch surface water. Is it not a duel purpose system? So basically they have a proper french drain with a few inlets for surface water? Would a hybrid system like that not work?

    • @MyTractorGuy
      @MyTractorGuy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I withdraw the question. You answer at 8:00 into video to share the trench but use separate pipe so handle surface water issues :-D

    Love the knowledge I've gained from watching many many many videos of yours. Now...I would like your thoughts on he geo textile fabrics. I've seen a video where it appears that it the geo textile fabric you are very high-on...doesn't absorb water quickly. So if we are installing a French drain like yours models...isn't the purpose to move water and to do it efficiently and quickly?
    Thoughts?

    In regions like Florida no French drain can keep up with mother nature. We get flash floods were a surface drain speeds up the process to take water away. I think all these pipes being installed should be atleast 12 inch diameter to keep up with these flash floods

      Try one of his duplex sump pump systems with extra chamber length. Watch the video on it.

    Ya just make a lovely river rock drainage trench-screw the pipes, just make a lovely working creek bed with plants. Zero maintainence, permanent and aesthetically pleasing. Switch to that!😍 Done right, it's gorgeous!

    • @rudolphguarnacci197
      @rudolphguarnacci197 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Until it gets compacted with dirt and you're back to square one. What if you don't want exposed rock?

  • @mae2759
    @mae2759 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The people that say clean the pipe out - how would you even do that? The cut holes in the pipe are what gets clogged. It's not like the pipe fills up with dirt and debris where a snake would do anything to it. The snake would spin and spin and never touch the dirt clogging the slits in the pipe, which is more on the outside than the inside.

      IDK what that dude is doing with the money he makes. He uses all shitty equpt. he rents trenchers on the clients dime. He uses shovels when he can. Like wtf. Buy some nice shit, do it right, and call yourself a colleague. How hard is that?

  • @davidfernandez876
    @davidfernandez876 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dont agree, feel you need to caveat it by saying it depends on your location. A full drainage system can have both french drains and inlet basins. In heavy compacted soils that encounter large rainfalls often like in Texas good luck with a pure french drain system.

    I literally just had a drain company come over and they recommended a similar system you do but said because the grade was so poor and causing pooling in certain areas that three surface drains and the French drain would be needed. Would you ever do this if grade was terrible? th-cam.com/video/FKxvRsDYaBo/w-d-xo.html
