Great video. Do yourself a favor and order a back glass for $10 when you order the replacement screen in-frame. Yes, get it in-frame, it's sooo much easier. Anyway, you can be as careful as ever and that back glass will break anyway. It's worth the $10 to let go of that stress. Also, put the front camera back in AFTER the top assembly is in place. This way you don't have to fuss with moving the connector out of the way. Then install your front camera in place and pad it appropriately. If you have extra parts when you're done be sure to watch the video again to see what you missed. It's a pretty simple mechanical remove/replace. It's easy to see where everything goes without too much Tetris happening.
My S23 Ultra screen is cracked in a very similar way, but the thing is - I haven't dropped the phone. Until I just took off a screen protector in order to replace it, I thought that only the screen protector cracked probably from touching keys in my pocket. I owned many Galaxy phones and only once had a screen crack when it fell out of my pants packet on a concrete bathroom floor. I also had a screen protector crack from touching a small metal breath mint container in my pants pocket, but the actual screen was ok. I am beginning to think that there is something wrong with Galaxy S23 Ultra screen itself.
After reading that servicing the phone locally would make it lose its IP68 rating, I chose to send it to Samsung. There is A LOT that is wrong with how Samsung service works. The first thing that you do is you start a request for service on the Samsung web page. You fill out your information including providing your credit card and agreeing to a charge. You then get a QR code that allows you to ship your phone to Samsung through UPS. After that you can check the repair status on the web page. There I saw that my phone was received my phone the next day after I sent it. But then, for the next three days the repair status didn't change. When I eventually drilled down on repair status, I saw that it said "Waiting for payment". That made no sense since I already provided my credit card information and agreed to a charge. I placed a call to Samsung and a woman who answered it made absolutely no sense. She kept on claiming that they needed my credit card again. "You paid, yeah, but...". Apparently they have a glitch in their system and she was just a brainless robot who couldn't put two and two together. Eventually she transferred the call to somebody who actually handled the repairs side. A guy answered it. He checked the status and said that since I have already paid for it, he will change a status to "repair assessment", which meant that the phone would be placed in a repair queue. Unlike the woman, he was completely sensible. I kept checking during next week and after another 5 days was told that the phone was fixed, but it's going to take some time for it to go through testing. Just before they sent the phone back, I saw that the information in the repair status of my phone changed from "cracked screen" to "bootup failure". I called Samsung to enquire why and was told is that this status change was due to how their software was configured and that I can ignore it. All together it took three weeks for me to get my phone back. During this time I had to use Moto G6 as my backup phone, and boy, did it feel ancient! I missed most of my calls and text messages. If I had known in advance that it would take so long to repair it, I would say "screw the IP68 rating!" and would have it repaired locally, which would have taken an hour. But 3 weeks wait wasn't all that I was up to as I soon discovered. When I turned the phone on - it was empty. I mean - it was a perfectly brand new Galaxy S23 Ultra missing all my data, settings, and applications. The phone that I sent in had a small scratch on the left side of the frame where the glass was broken. That scratch was not there. I sent the phone in working condition. In fact, I initially thought that only a screen protector had cracked and used the phone for another three weeks until I found time to replace the screen protector. Once I pulled it off, I saw that the actual screen was broken too. So the phone was fine. Why in the world did Samsung chose to replace the whole phone? While I could think of some reasons from the point of optimal business workflow, when I submitted the request to Samsung there was not a single word on that web page about backing up phones data! And that web page for specifically for CRACKED SCREEN REPLACEMENT. Yes, in a retrospect, I would agree that it would be prudent to back up my phone before shipping it, but Samsung, being who Samsung is could and should have advised doing that that as a part of filling out a request! I mean - this is Samsung, not some lowly startup who is just getting into the cell phone business and doesn't yet have the knowledge for particulars! I was incredibly pissed. It took the next two days to configure the phone to my liking and there some things that are still missing. Samsung sent me a satisfaction survey in which I gave it the lowest ratings across the board, listing the reasons. They actually called me several days later and told me that they have reviewed it and asked me again if they fixed the original problem and whether I was satisfied. What does one say to that?!!!
I actually had the same issues with the Note 20 Ultra. Like whatever iPhone, it was too thin for how big it was. By itself, in my jeans pocket, it cracked the screen because I was climbing over some stuff
Do you by any chance have a list of all of the replacement parts used in this video? I'm interested in the replacement adhesive you used as well as the item # used for the screen.
U didnt replace Glue under battery or arround the selfie cam. (Specialy as you used alcohol to remove battery). Those two things will get lose and rattle inside the phone. I used a refurbished Iphone X once with a lose battery insde, thats a verry unplecent feelign of the thin flopping arround inside.
