    Based on internet reading, there’s another model rumored to also have part of the MACV-SOG family. The 6106 8219 holds the same watch design and characteristics as the 3. It came out in 1969, before the 7005 and came with the DX (deluxe) specifications, with a hacking movement and a stainless steel case.

    Rolex’s were popular in Nam, not for status, but they took helicopter vibrations well.

    How did automatic mechanical watches that are super sensitive withstand combatants in Vietnam during the war?

      They’re Seiko’s.

    its suprising me that they choose automatic watches, automatic are more prone to d amage from running and hiting prone the earth. it would nt be more reliable to choose hand wound models?

    Real military watches. Black dial, white numerals, white hands, no 13-to-24 BS. Nothing there that doesn't need to be there.

    • @scottparis6355
      @scottparis6355 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish Seiko would market all three of these (or any one of them) today. Most "military style" watches today have way too much junk on the dial.

    I had a Zodiac Sea Wolf. Worked perfectly through Basic, AIT, Airborne, OCS, SFOC, SF Underwater Operations course, and Vietnam. Lost it one night after I got out of the service, then bought the Super Sea Wolf. It was nice, but I'm rough on watches. The counter balance weight of the Super Sea Wold came lose a couple times. A screw broke after I fixed it a few times. Sold to the parts to a collector.
    Nothing against the Seiko. And back then, tradition in SF was a Rolex Submariner, and a star sapphire ring. Never got either.

      @@LastWatchHorology Look at John Plaster's books about MACV-SOG....one book mainly concerns photographs taken during their time there...there might be MP film, but I imagine it is classified...
