Hey Nirmal, it looks like they count years backwards from the date of application, so the year you were out would not be counted its been explained here as an example www.govt.nz/browse/passports-citizenship-and-identity/nz-citizenship/requirements-for-nz-citizenship/presence-requirements/ Best way would be to go to any CAB ( Citizen advise Bureau office) they are in most libraries and are very helpful . www.cab.org.nz/ I actually visited them for something similar .
