    I am holding PR for two years and present and I had a vacation for a year for looking after my father, then came back again on February 2023. Will it be 3 years of stay here or back again to 5 years before applying for NZ citizenship? thanks

    I have a question, and I cant seem to find the answer anywhere. Do i become a citizen, 5 years after I become a resident or a permanent resident?

    • @dstar1166
      @dstar1166 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Resident and Permanent Resident Visas are the same for the purpose of NZ Citizenship eligibility. So if you're on either for 5 years and haven't travelled more than around 15 months in that five years, you should qualify!
      The main difference: Resident visa has two-year travel facility while Permanent Resident Visa has no limits. So if you want to travel out side of NZ and be able to return after first two years of your Resident Visa, apply for Permanent Resident Visa else if you travel on your Resident Visa after your initial two-year facility expires, you will have issues returning to NZ.

    Do you mean a person with NZ passport can live freely either in Australia or NZ only, but not anywhere else?

    • @ortegajulzzz
      @ortegajulzzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes an NZ passport holder can live in NZ and Australia without needing to apply for a visa (eg visitor visa etc), but NZ passport holders can visit a lot of countries without a visa but only for a period of time, eg 1 month etc

    Hi Juls, that was a an incredibly informative sharing! I did not graduate from a NZ university but I would like to apply professional job there, is that possible? If yes, what requirements should i meet?

    • @ortegajulzzz
      @ortegajulzzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for your comment! Yes you can definitely apply for jobs in New Zealand even if you didnt graduate here. The requirements will be different depending on the employer and the profession and they will usually list them as part of the job ad 😊 some will say you need a certain qualification but it doesn't necessarily need to be from New Zealand, it could be "equivalent".

And in march 2023 its 6 years now But from april 2021 to april 2022 i was out of nz for 1 year .but in the requirements i had to stay in nz from last 5 years continuously.so just wondering do i need to wait another 5 years for citizenship thanks

    • @ortegajulzzz
      @ortegajulzzz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Here's a link with information that might be useful: www.govt.nz/browse/passports-citizenship-and-identity/nz-citizenship/requirements-for-nz-citizenship/presence-requirements/
      Based on the immigration website, they will count the last 5 years from the day you apply for your citizenship. As you've been out of NZ for more than 4 months in the last 5 years, you might not meet the presence requirements and likely need to wait. I recommend getting in touch with NZ immigration directly to confirm 👍

      Investor category requires considerable funds to become NZ Citizen. Millions of dollars invested in businesses. Also to get permanent residence. Most people moved to NZ on work visa for 3 years, then depending on education, skills, English language, and finance apply for Permanent Residence. Helps if your are IT, Doctor, Nurse, engineer tech or highly skilled tradesperson Mechanic, Builder etc...

    How many yrs can a work permit visa holder become new Zealand citizen and passport holder

    • @ortegajulzzz
      @ortegajulzzz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You have to gain New Zealand residency first before you can become a New Zealand citizen. So that means from holding a work visa, you have to apply for residency visa and meet the requirements etc. Once you're a resident, it would then take 5 years before you can become a citizen (2 years residency, 3 years permanent resident)

    If you comit a crime, like in America, can you be deported to your home country? In America, where i live (wisconsin) you can be deported if you commit certain crimes. It depends on what crime.
