  • Prior to Liverpool City Council's decision to demolish the Churchill Way flyovers, New Civil Engineer had exclusive access to the site to see what led to the council’s decision. Here is Andy Barr, the council's head of highways, talking about the flyovers a couple of weeks before they were condemned to demolition by the council.

    Great Job !
    I attended Liverpool Polytechnic back in the day.
    In 1985/6 a footbridge across spanning Bryon Street from Dale Street to the college fell down onto the road as it was being dismantled.
    Similar in design to those being removed in this video.
    No one hurt, thankfully.
    I remember coming around the Dale Street corner past The Mitre pub on the way into college one morning and seeing one end of the walkway up in the air resting on a columns and the other embedded in the ground 40feet below.
