Your locs look really beautiful 😍 I used conditioner when I dyed my hair black, it helps it to feel softer, never got build up whatsoever. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thanks for appreciating the videos. Really trying to be as transparent as possible. Happy to hear a positive comment on conditioning locs. I feel like it’s a big no no in the loc community. I think I will start to explore conditioners for my loc. What brand did you use?
AFTER 4 YEARS OF RETWISTING, I GOT A LOT OF LOOSE HAIR THAT WIULD NOT LOCK INTO MY DREADS, SO I DECIDED TO INTERLOCK AND WHAT A DIFFERENCE😊 I DECIDED JUST TO DO IT ONCE A YEAR , IF NEEDED😊
It does make a world of difference. Sometimes I wish the loose hair around my finger so it look like a loc and when I am interlocking it’s easier to see it to make sure that it gets interlocked into the loc TIGHT. lol
Thanks. Really appreciate this video. I had my locs interlocked for the first and only time many years ago while visiting family in the Caribbean. It was easily the 2nd worst hair experience of my life. The absolute worst resulted in dramatic hair loss after a relaxer! Anyway, the pain of the interlocking was intense! The pain just kept on getting worse and I put it down to my hair drying out as she tugged on it. Unfortunately, the young lady attending me ignored several suggestions and requests to dampen the hair as she went along. I am a lot more assertive and forthcoming now, so no way in hell would I sit quietly through that kind of abuse/experience. On a level of one to 10, I'd put the pain at a 12 and the process, lasted just shy of 5 hrs!! That was my first experience with interlocking and I've been extremely reluctant to repeat it. Palm rolling just isn't holding the way I want to anymore so I'm ready to revisit the interlocking experience, but I am still extremely reluctant to trust my head to a professional LOL. This is the 3rd or 4th TH-cam video I've watched on interlocking and liked, and I really appreciate everyone's role in my interlocking education. ;-)
Lifewhisperer omg that is horrible and one of the reasons why I am scared to ever let someone interlock my hair. Interlocking should NEVER be painful because u should never be too close to scalp. Palmrolling is painful and don’t last long. Check out my how to interlock properly video. The link is in the description. I talk more on it in that video. Also try interlocking one loc and see how you like it. Buy the needle i use. It’s easier. Omg I can’t believe what you went through. Subscribe to my channel and reach out if you EVER have questions
Simple and straight forward tutorial. I have been going to the hairdresser for my interlocking but watching this video has given me the courage to start doing it my self and I am please to say that I have ordered the tools from amazon and waiting delivery. Thank you.
Cathy Nganje thanks hun. I say try it. Gain that independence from Locticians and own your hair journey. I go to Loctician once a year for a loc detox because I hate doing it myself. I don’t think I have the courage to let a Loctician interlock my hair - it’s so permanent. My tip for you is to practice on Locs in back. I personally had one lock in the back to the left of my head that I interlocked while retwisting the rest of my head. And then one day I jut my whole head. That was 4 yrs ago and I never turned back ❤️
Thank you for the tutorial. I started my locs in Dec of 2019 and now I have new growth and your video is a big help to me nowvI can interlock my hair. Yay!!😊
Your locks looks beautiful. I condition my hair once a month, it made a world of difference my hair was so dry I guess everyone has to see what works for them. I use the Aussie conditioner in the purple bottle, it has just enough moisture for locks ( I make sure not to leave it longer than 3 minutes). My hair is about the same length as yours, I have been growing it for 2 years. I also use the Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine shampoo which really helps with the friz, it really works. I also interlock but have decided to now only interlock during the summer months when I need to wet my hair often. I've decided to retwist because of my hair growing outside of my Loc.
When I braid my hair in boxes just to keep out of the way it find in a few days I have strands outside the braid and it's SO ANNOYING. I have 4B-4C hair, put in my braids and in a week time the middle part was so frizzy smh. I guess the frizz would be good for locing but I fear twisting will just be a waste.
@@iamdanie_. yes I have more frizz/loose hair in the crown of my head....I’ve just learned to embrace it and let it do what it do🤣 I only wrap when I’m doing my maintenance since I interlock which is every 3 months or so.
The only thing that I can say about "hair that grows outside of the loc" is to Not let it get too much new growth. Keep the new growth in the loc by doing rotations on smaller amount of new growth and keeping up with that.
I loved your video! I'm trying to decide whether or not to tackle tightening my daughter's new locs...I am NOT having any luck doing her hair on my own, so I appreciate your clear, down to earth approach!
My new growth grows outside of my locs as well and I twisted mine just like you do and they are now probably about 15 inches long so it all catches up and seems to loc in with the rest of the loc in the end so I wouldn’t worry about it...and I like the way you part your hair my problem is the single strands that you can't see seem to get caught in between one loc and the other next to it and you have to pop it...that’s my biggest problem but your locs are beautiful keep up the great work.
I usually spray my hair with Dr Locs Imani locking spray to hold my hair and reduce frizz. I do this right after I interlock and retwists. Remember to wrap loose hair around the lock after you are done interlocking each loc
There is a spilt in the new growth if you put your finger in the loc that will tell you where you left off & to start from the opposite angle she shows it in the video
I've been watching you and I wash my hair the same way. I wash my loc very regular as I don't like my hair itching me. Go to Cris mcdread he does the crochet needle loc. I want uo try it too. My loc is full too not skinny
Hey i really admire how you make your hair. I live in germany but i havent gotten the right products for my locks. Can you recommend go products from Shampoo, Conditioner, treatment and oils. Thanks
Yes. I interlock when I can fit two fingers in the new growth. In between interlocking I retwist/palm roll. Check out recent videos to see what my hair look like now
How do you manage to do the back of your head where you can't see? I am thinking of interlocking my locks but I don't know how I will be able to partition the locks properly without being able to see what I will be doing
Thanks for Sharing. Very pretty locs. My hair Grows like yours also. And I keep trying the the crochet method I cant get it either. I seen several videos on it also.
Belva Goudeau no I did not. I just did rows and rows of two strand twist. However I made sure that I made a nice part on both sides and also middle so I had options of where my hair could fall
Hi. No not side to side in the same rotation. So for example, if you are holding the loc, you take the loc through the hole going up, then left, then down then right.
Not breakage at all. This is one of the reasons why I couldn’t do protective styles when I was loose natural a lot. After 2 days a fuzzy mess roots down. Lol. So I knew I wasn’t to expect smooth locs that would behave. Lol
Selecting very few products for your locs is key. These are products I reached for all the time in 2020 and will continue using in 2021. th-cam.com/video/GWsTx5Z49hc/w-d-xo.html

This!!! The best demonstration on how to interlock on your own. 2 months locked, and I used this video to do my first interlock. Thank you😘😘
OMA thank you. I am beyond happy that this video helps someone
Thanks for sharing. My new growth comes in the same way and I find most people on TH-cam show very clean parts with their interlocing lol.
Michelle M I see them videos too and I am like look at u ‘show off’ lol
wow i guess my transition will start here from retwisting to interlocking
Do it!
