As a GP, I would completely support what Pooky says, and add that it is really helpful if you can tell us at the beginning of an appointment if its about mental health, rather than talk about other stuff first, then mention it at the end. thank you
Thanks for taking the time to comment here Dominique - It's so helpful to capture useful comments.. does this happen a lot in your experience? I imagine so... it's a little bit like the advice I often give about busy staff if a pupil wants to have a conversation with them in private - often being honest and saying 'you have my undivided attention, but I only have ten minutes before I'm on lunch duty' or similar, focuses the mind of the pupil and helps them to share what is really bothering them rather than talking around the subject...
I hope that things are feeling less difficult now - you are not wasting people's time; I hope you made it to he GP and they were helpful.. and if not that you were able to dig deep and try again... you matter..

Sometimes I feel like my phone is listening to me😂 I literally just made an appointment to speak about my mental health and this pops up in my recommended!
When admitted to the hospital due to other health issues the dr saw my scars an referred me to mental health had someone come down to see me bombarded me with the same questions “that’s the first time you harm yourself “ you have only sh once haven’t you?” These was repeated to the point I just said yes I felt uncomfortable tbh and wish I could of had someone with me my anxiety went through the roof

I'm finding it really hard to ask for help
I can't even go to my GP as I feel that I'm just wasting everybody's time and that I will be rejected

In lreland their no point in going to the GP for your mental health because all they will do is give you a prescription for tablets
