  • When we last talked to Jeremy Rivera, he told us about his wild and wonderful journey back to the Catholic Church.
But that wasn’t the end of the story.
Returning to Catholicism was great for Jeremy, but it wasn't just “happily ever after.” He had to figure out how to have the kind of life that most cradle Catholics take for granted.
So in this episode, Jeremy tells you about:
The hardest part of going from Protestant minister to fresh new Catholic
Why conversion is an ongoing process, not once and for all
What Catholics should know about the converts in their parishes

I articulated the head-heart divorce almost exactly the same way while I’ve been an Evangelical Protestant. By God’s grace I’m getting to hear it again in the walls of His Church. I’m getting confirmed this Easter Vigil to be a part of it!

I came back home to the Catholic Church through the Charismatic Movement. The focus is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ! It’s an amazing experience!

Yes he is so right about the lack of passion of so many Catholics. The reason for that is because many have not studied like non catholics who through their studies found out what the Church is. They are cradle Catholics who are born into the Faith. Non catholics have seen the other side and have the capacity to compare , then see and discover the enormous depth and beauty of the One and only Church which Jesus Himself instituted.

Exactly. It’s the same thing as Americans not appreciating running water, electricity, free schools for everyone, heat & air conditioning, not having to quit school once you begin menstruating like girls do in many countries, etc.

No they don't. Just like the Jews who were set free by MOSES , all the miracles GOD did with the ten commandments , they became lukewarm in their faith.
Failure is constant in the church. We don't succeed enough. We are impatient. The remote and the microwave have ruined and made us lazy.
I wish GOD would hurry up with our atonement.

It has to do with knowing the depth of their Faith. It is a known fact that Protestants who dive deeper into the Faith, convert to Catholicism and Catholics who do NOT know their Faith are easily swayed to become protestant.

"Tradition is not the worship of ashes but the preservation of fire" attributed most often by the algorithm to Gustav Mahler. An interesting bit of trivia: in the original German the order is reversed: "Tradition ist die Weitergabe des Feuers und nicht die Anbetung der Asche." And closer to "passing on" of fire than to "preservation."

    Romans 5:3-5
Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance,
and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope,
and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us.

I read the Screwtape Letters... Those demons want us employing ill-thinking and being picky about which Church, which Mass, which this, which that... Whether distraction or detraction, I must remember that by my own power alone I can only fall to ruin, so I'll maybe start getting picky about what's 'right for me' when He tells me. I suppose the nearest Church serves the greatest number of my closest neighbours - much more than enough to begin.

The next thing you need to read is 'The Liber Christo Method', A Field Manual for Spiritual Combat .. by Dan Schneider, PHD and with foreword by Fr. Chad Ripperger, PHD and expert exorcist. This book is the one Fr. Ripperger assigns to those experiencing demonic attack. Actual exorcisms are only needed in very few cases. But the fight is real and ongoing. Fr. Ripperger's youtube talk in early 2024 at St. Patricks Cathedral is eye opening ... it's NOT speculative ... it's direct experience ... and what actually works to win.

We Catholics are a mixed bag like all peoples. But we are in play like all christian vying for the salvation of the Lord. And some are become hotter others go colder but even where a catholic leaves for any other denomination they are trying to stay in play. Jesus allows that complete freedom all the while going after that one extreme case of the lost lamb and he will come after you if you get so lost.

Abandoned by mother at time of personality formation? She left both of them ... unknown reasons ... perhaps justified ... but for a child any parent abandoning the family creates a deeply emotional model of expectancy for the one who left. Women? They leave the game and wound the heart ... ALWAYS ... [Not true of course ... but it certainly appeared true for him]. Mary is a healer. If SHE wants him to get married SHE will provide the woman able to continue healing him deep down. But perhaps he is way better off by leaning on HER and her Son. Life is short. He is already in the noontime of his life ... and kids require youthful energy and stamina.

Of course not. Conversion is like buying a car. Oh at first it's all new n shiny, got that clean car smell. Carpets are pristine not a single old French fry or snickers wrapper in it. And one day you're driving along, Doing your whole I got a new car thing, and what happens? Your stomach starts to get a little hungry. You're drivin down restaurant road, you can smell all those French fries In T bell. You try to ignore that grumbling in your stomach and smell of it. You Tell yourself that McDonald's in Taco Bell Will mess up that nice new car smell in the Interior. You know once you eat in that car it will never be that pristine again without a whole lot of work and you will never get that true new car smell back again. You know that's what happened to the interior of your last car. Yet you tell yourself a biggie fry and a couple of t bell tacos won't hurt. The next morning you go out to your car. There's French fries everywhere and Taco Bell packets stains, it's a mess. You do the best you can to get that car back to phristine and you know it's gonna take some hard work in some time.

Check out 'The Liber Christo Method', A Field Manual for Spiritual Combat by Dan Schneider, PHD and with foreword by Fr. Chad Ripperger, PHD and expert exorcist. The book is assigned for those experiencing demonic attack. Read appendix C before going into the contents ... and let a good priest you can trust to be in alignment with church teachings know your situation. Hopefully it's your parish priest pastor or confessor because they have the authority you need for backup. The demons can do absolutely NOTHING without God permitting it / wanting it to occur. They can do NOTHING by themselves. God wants us holy. For some it takes a gentle nudge ... for stiff personalities it takes more. The effort is worth it. It is warfare. We will always be on the front line until the Lord ends our trial period and reveals the results of our final exam. [Our life choices]

I know you enjoy having a good time but ...Chris ... do you have any idea how often you disrupt a stream of data people want to hear ... because you want to plug in your two cents worth? A lot of your input may be pertinent ... but maybe off line ... or the last 10 minutes of the interview would be way better. Check out the interview techniques from Journey Home ... they keep the person hosted talking and greatly minimize their own personal story and reaction. This man began talking about personal input Mary gave him in the earlier show ... and the bishop ... and then along came you and you and you and you ...... just saying. Thank you for the video.

I’m sorry but you come across as someone who totally dislikes the Latin Mass, I get what you’re saying and yes some people go about it wrong, but so did you. It seems as if you were trying to keep him from experiencing the TLM.

    • @PatriciaCooksey-wr8hd

I noticed this too. It takes study to understand what is happening and what it all means. I love the mass in any language but find that there can be aspects in the TL M that are very moving, especially in the silence of the low mass. Our priests say both the novus ordo and the T LM ad orientem (facing away from the congregation. They are leading us. I also love the Gregorian Chant which we do in both forms.

    • @michaelpcooksey5096
      @michaelpcooksey5096 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

I never experienced the Latin mass as a convert in a hold hands Newman center environment around 1969-70. My previously poorly educated Salem Evangelical United Brethren and blue lodge Masonic affiliation left much to be desired. [No longer a mason]. Latin? Of course not. Why speak Latin if the people don't know what's being said? And the missal? Page flipping without training is a huge level of frustration... Still ... I see reverence in the Latin mass ... and that counts big time. Eucharistic adoration goes on as well. Sooooo no problem ... but even after 50 years the Latin feels like I'm in a foreign country and a temporary visitor.
