    I appreciate the tutorial on how to export from RV Trip Wizard to Google Maps. That will be very useful this spring and summer.

    Thank you for being the only, so far...out of 6, to show the bottom line, end results....the GPS side. Everyone focuses on the great stuff a person can do from PC or tablet. I keep wanting to see, what you showed, ,,,the after part. The part I need when actually on the road. One thing, I have read, is the RV Life GPS is better than Google maps. Have you tried ? If so, or if you could import a trip, I'd love to see the difference. THANKS

      I play with them all before I take the trip. I first set the trip in Trip Wizard then I look at the directions in my Garmin to see if it matches. The RV Life app should be RV friendly where Google Maps may not be but many times if you are just traveling interstates Google Maps is fine. I like to compare.

    Thanks for a great informative video once again. I do however have a question: When I plan a route and RVTW automatically gives me the route from point A to Point B AND I decide to change it to a different HWY, the blue route lines show up in both places. Example; From I-75 S which RVTW wants to take me but I want to catch I-71 S instead and drag the route (on) make the change and turn drag route (off) - both blue trip lines show up. I would think that the change would eliminate I-75???

      I’ve honestly been off the road (temporarily)since I did this video I really am not sure of the answer here. What I can suggest is asking this same question on their Facebook page. Someone may be able to answer and Patrick who is with the company usually monitors it as well. When I am near my computer tomorrow I will check this out as well. Good luck

    When I put the GPX file into My Maps, it did not use the route from RV Trip Wizard. It only used the stops I had put in. There were straight black lines between the stops. Does anyone know why the route from RV Trip Wizard didn't move over to My Maps?
    Re-looking at the video....I see multiple things listed for each stop in My Maps. I see a start, stop, and what looks like the route information. On my My Map, only my stops showed up.

    If I wanted to plan a trip from Texas to the start of RT. 66 and along RT 66. Will this show all the Campsites and all the POI along the route?

      Hi. I’ve never taken that route so I can’t tell you. Any other trips I’ve used it for it does tell you many of the campgrounds and POI along route. We always use it to plan.

    Correct me if I am wrong, but Trip Wizard still doesn't have the capability to upload to a Garmin GPS, right? Which would be really helpful.

    Question....I use a tablet, so I have NO MOUSE. How do I drag route when I have to use Touch by fingers on tablet?
    So far this trip wizard doesn't help me .
    I can't use mouse to point with arrow!

      I’ve never done that with a tablet. I have found RVT to be much easier to work with on a laptop. They may have improved that but if you post on their Facebook page you may get a better answer for that.

    My question is, how do you know what the hazards might be in the new route you have created? I have used trip wizard and it added 2 hours to a trip so I used the drag feature for a more direct route and hoped for the best. We got to our destination without any problem and there were no RV hazards along the faster route I created. I can't figure out why trip wizard gave me such a long route when the shorter alternative was fine for our RV. Is there any way to see what they deem to be a hazard along the new route that you have created?

      From my experience Trip Wizard is routing you based on the RV info you have entered into the settings. It will use a route it deems to be RV friendly. I know of an experience in NJ where Trip Wizard and Garmin had me avoid RT 9 in the Freehold/Howell area when I knew that I could use it. After some research I saw RT 9 had a weight limit (why I don't know as I have seen many large trucks there) so its possible TW re-routed for that reason. I use TW as a route planner and then use my Garmin, The app Co-Pilot, and then Google Maps to make my final decision on a route. I know its a lot but its fun for me. There is a button on the upper right that says show/Hide Hazards that is helpful.

      @@rollinintoretirementrvtips3680 Thank you!. Yes, I look at the show hazards button to look for low clearance warnings. We have a small 22 foot travel trailer and my alternate route had semi trucks on it the whole way. It would be nice to be able to know why trip wizard deems a route as more or less RV friendly. That would be a great feature for the future versions as I never know if I should follow their suggestion for a much longer route for a reason unknown to me.

    Does anyone know......I have a F150 and use Google maps as my usual GPS. Does anyone know if saving a map in google will translate to a vehicle, suc as mine, that you use it ? Please share info, pics, anything

      Google Maps is great you just have to be careful it doesn’t send you an a back road your rig can’t handle or a bridge to low. RV apps and Garmin or Rand McNallys are supposed to route you around that.

  • @kathyhollister2478

    Can you upload the RV Trip Wizard route to your vehicle's GPS system?

    • @rollinintoretirementrvtips3680
      @rollinintoretirementrvtips3680  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      RV Trip Wizard creates a .gpx file that can be imported into certain devices such as a Garmin or Rand McNally. I don’t know if it can import to any vehicle onboard systems. Sorry. Thanks for watching!

      If the F150 onboard system can import a .gpx file than yes. Check the manual to see if that is possible. Mike

    I can't export a map to my tablet, same issue of this not being a computer but a tablet. Think I wasted my money here. I don't own a free standing computer or a laptop

      @rollinintoretirementrvtips3680  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure…. Are you trying to export to a gps or Google maps? You can export to a gpx file and open that in Google maps. Or just print? You can do that as well. Wish I could be more help. I’m not part of the company but I like the program and actually use it more for the planning aspect. I do suggest you go to their Facebook page. Lots of people their that can help as well and RVT does monitor it.
