I’m Michele Neskey, aka The Posh PA. Welcome to my channel! My mission is to provide personalized guidance, education, and motivation to build confidence and promote wellness for aspiring physician assistants and beyond.
Having been a PA for 17+ years and helped hundreds of students gain acceptance into PA school, I understand the admissions process. I know what they are looking for, and I can help you tailor every component to make you shine, giving you the BEST chance of getting accepted to a program. But it doesn't end there. I create personalized plans for PA students and practicing PAs including test-taking strategy for the PANCE, contract negotiations, and tools to overcome and prevent provider burnout.
My goal is to get you into PA school & survive the rigorous program, help you prevent burnout as a practicing PA, and help you take care of yourself so you can be the best version of YOU for your patients, family, and most importantly YOU!

Thank you for the video. I am currently in medical school and am still trying to figure out an opinion on this topic. In one regard I believe PA's do a great job and I have worked for some PA's in a family medicine and urgent care setting. They were able to treat the patient just as well as their DO and MD counterparts. I have also seen a urologist work with a PA in the OR and clinic where the PA would assist in surgery and then help see patients in the office. On the other hand I can see some problems with allowing PA's to open their own practice in the fact that they don't have as much training or schooling as doctors. Most PA programs have two years of school after an undergraduate degree. I understand that getting into PA school most people have over 2000 clinical hours. That being said I believe they are well trained, but not as much as doctors get with 4 years of medical school plus 3-7 years of residency. I believe practicing in the clinic is where most of the skills needed to work in the medical field are grown and perfected. That being said I believe PAs that have been practicing for around 5 years after they graduate more than likely are qualified to open their own practice and work on their own in certain specialties, but they ones that worry me are coming straight out of PA school, opening their practice and treating patients when they have only had two years of postgraduate schooling. I would love to hear your point of view on this. Thank you again for your video and I look forward to working closely with PAs in the future.

Thank for this response. And I agree experience is the key here. I do not believe personally a new graduate PA should be able to practice independently or open a practice. However, after a certain amount of years/hours of experience, it is reasonable to consider. States that do allow PAs to do this require them by law to have practiced a considerable amount of hours. Thanks so much for your point of view and professionalism!

That's so unfair!!! I'm a doctor and never got residency and went through hell and back and massive debt and PAs can practice and we can't unbelievable! I could have been a PA. But I realize I should have, I would have had a job, kids, and no debt.

This is awesome to hear!! As a pre pa student, I look forward to one day owning my practice with an MD. 🙏🏼 Very inspiring to hear since I thought as a PA we weren’t able to own anything.

Patient hours for most PA's are 1,000-4,000 hours to be competitive.

A long term dream of mine is to become a PA-C and open a practice with my husband who is pursuing a career as a Psychologist. We want to somehow interlink our specialties and create a business!
