awesome video! You might have explained and I missed it but what is the purpose of the dowels?

Adding strength to the cabinet. It reduces resonance and strengthen the 3/8”(or 1/2”) MDF boards.
You can also add a board with cutouts in the cabinet to do the same thing.

one error; he didn't hot glue the crossover components to the mounting board, so they can't vibrate.

Has anyone compared the c-notes to the c-sharp, overnight sensation, and sambas? I've only build an 18" gsg marty so Im brand new to the DIY bookshelf speakers. I'm looking to build a pair but I'm not sure which generally sound the best. Im going for more clarity than bass since I'm already in way overkill with bass. Id love to hear everyone's opinions!

C-sharp is the powered version of C-note. Basically, it's the same model as C-note. Personally, I like passive speakers more.
When I was researching, I did see people comparing Overnight Sensation with C-note. My conclusion of the comparison is that C-note is more refined than Overnight Sensation and can play louder.
But don't quote me on that lol
Just from glancing at the spec of Samba, my guess will be as follows:
Compared to C-note, Samba is slightly harder to drive and might be more revealing on the amplifier than C-note.
Samba is larger in size, and probably not suited for a desktop setup.
However, the larger size also means it can push more air and satisfy a larger room than the C-note.
Surprisingly, Samba doesn't go too much deeper compared to C-Note, but based on the woofer size and other specs, I would say it should sound "thicker" compared to C-note.
If you are not looking for bass, I would say C-note is a good option.
Its highs are crispy, detailed, and can be slightly sharp on large volumes but not piercing sharp or overly emphasized.
The bass is sufficient but nothing crazy, in a larger room you might find it too thin.
      That's my 2 cents.
      Cheers.

I am so completely intimidated now. I thought I wanted to build a speaker kit before watching this. Now I'm not so sure.

@@vinylanatomy7888 Thanks. I did build a pair of C-Notes and I really enjoy the way they sound. However, they do look rough. I learned a lot. My next build will look much better.
