they had access to the arcade assets, sent to them by Technos Japan. That's why it's so accurate. Then, the programming team and graphists were incredibly good. The Amiga version is superior to the coin-op overall.

I agree. The animation is much better and the gameplay is solid. Shame there was none of the arcade game's amazing music in there, but it's a good Amiga beat 'em up.

Great port of a bad game. I'll admit, I had a lot of fun with this one. It's one of the better Amiga beat 'em ups, and miles better than Double Dragon 1 on the Amiga. A bit of in game music wouldn't have gone amiss though, but the rest is great for the system.

The arcade of this game was the first double dragon game not developed by Technos, being developed by East Technology instead.
Technos developed however, the nes version, which is hands down the best version of all, and great co-op game if both players know how to play it (cooperative jump kicks like some enemies do, plus wall jump, plus the double spinning kick which kills every regular enemy in one hit).

nes version is the best co op beat em up on the system. you just gotta practice a bit more to get better. Wall jumps and head throws are super fun.

Trouble is the arcade original was at best dull and boring.the sales curve did great conversion and even ironed out some of the arcade games issues.but still not a very good or fun game for me.plenty of other beat em ups I'd rather play

Never enjoyed this game, much prefer Target: Renegade on the humble Spectrum.

Looks pretty rubbish with drab washed out colours and no parallax scrolling. Not properly using the Amiga. Also sparse sound which robs the game of any kind of atmosphere. And it seems like you can complete the game using just one move throughout.
All the hallmarks of a 'let's do an adequate just about good enough' kind of job... So why bother converting a lame arcade machine like this anyway?

@Retro Storm- Aesthetics do matter- I want a good looking colourful game that does the Amiga proud. Compare this though to Shadow Fighter or more to the point Metro Siege, a brand new Amiga 500 beat em up being developed right now, a game being done by people with real passion and enthusiasm for what they're doing. You can see the difference ( although I admit Metro Siege is getting more development time)

@Ryukenden- I would rather they spent more time making this game as awesome as possible rather than rushing it out for financial reasons. Sometimes pride and doing the best job you can is more important, especially in terms of praise and your reputation....
