    A l'epoque. J'en ai eu deux ....de tres beaux moteur. Des usinage magnifique mais tres fragile et pas fiable....de plus ils étaient tres onéreux...!!

    Interesting engine. You definitely need that tool for disassembly/reassembly. Can’t wait to see how it runs.

      Yeah, without this special tool disassembly is all but impossible.

    looks like a big cox, I have one and I haven't turned it on, it would be interesting to see it working

    Really nice collectors engine. What I find remarkable is that it seems to be Schnuerle ported which was quite a performance feature in the early seventies.

    Hi David, these oldies like castor oil. At least for break in.And low nitro. You will find out in combination with the "best glow plug".

    I have had a couple of MDS 40s come my way David and one of them is stuck solid with castor, is alcohol the best solvent to remove it. That's a fascinating engine, and so complex in its assembly, with all those threads, instead of being screwed together. It must have been quite an expensive engine when new, and such a collectors item now.

      I tend to disagree with alcohol being the BEST thing to loosen castor residue. I have been using LA's cleaner for years now and it works much faster than alcohol especially in conjunction with an ultrasonic cleaner. Besides it was not just castor holding things tight on this engine.

      When new, it cost the equivalent of over $650 in today's money.
