I had been very skeptical of 360 cameras for years. Never liked how the footage looked. But this new X4 intrigued me so after watching a bunch of videos and reviews on this camera I decided to purchase one and I am happy with my purchase. I have some shots I plan on using with this.
I missed my camcorder days. Easy to use, fun, etc. Was going to buy a Panasonic VX981 but saw the Insta x4. This is for family videos, vacations, etc. Would you recommend the Insta?

Hi - for the best image quality you should export in ProRes and in 4K (only possible in the desktop app). On your smartphone in 4K and the highest possible bitrate.

Great video, getting one for my birthday and watching videos ahead of time to get an idea on how best to use it and this was the best beginner video I've watched.
@@anakin_black So far I'm extremely happy with it. Simple, easy to use, very clear, feels solid, great batter length even in 360 mode, app on both mobile and pc are great. I have 0 editing skills and is one session I've been able to produce a more satisfying video than I did with yearts of using GoPro Quik.
No shotlab features in the studio software. Whats going on Insta360? Why only using a smartphone with small screens. All of the great features for the X4 should and must be part including all shotlabs in the studio software!
How big is the quality difference using the "standard" vs. "high" compression quality at 8k 360 ? ... 1 vs. 1.5 GByte / min (+50%) storage is quite a bit. Could you please post a short comparison where you see the difference ?
Great tutorial. Thank you. Can you combine multiple 360 clips together so instead of having short clips you can have one long movie? I mainly use it for travel and don't use any of the shooting features.
@roninr8199 invisible stick is not a fancy AI feature. It is created by blind spot on a stiching line. If your selfie stick is thin enough, it will be invisible. It's physics not software removal. It works like this in every 360 camera and software feature is just marketing :)

Hi Werner, love your videos. They are at a good pace and cover all aspects. The X4 is incredible and is my new drone camera up from the Kandao 8K. I am intrigued as how you have mounted the selfie stick for the skiing with the view from behind. I can see that it is secured around your waist but not sure how. I am really looking forward to trying the jig for securing the selfie stick to the ski pole.

Thanks for this tutorial. One question, if you edit a footage in insta360 app of your phone, do you keep the keyframes and editing when you open it up in 360 studio? Or do you have to redo the whole editing once on your computer? Another question; have you noticed any flare or flaws with the premium lens guard?
On the old version of the app it was possible - but I think that feature has been removed. To be honest, I took all my shots without lens guards (even for my comparison tests) - but I've seen on other videos that depending on the angle they can produce flares
Is it possible to have the camera frame a person based on their microphone? For example two people talking...could it switch views automatically between the two people as they take turns speaking?
So if I record in 2.7/30 in me-mode I don´t need to bring it into the app, I get a clip that can take straight from memory-card into edit in final cut?

There is a 360 photo mode where you can reframe just like in 360 video mode. I would not just export a frame out of a video file - quality will me much worse
So it looks like it has to be powered up for gestures or voice commands to work... how long does the battery last when powered on but not recording? This might not be as useful a feature as I had hoped, since it would be good to use that feature to save battery life until something is happening otherwise might as well record the entire time and edit later

No - these are different color profiles - flat on the X4 is not a proper log-profile and it's not as "flat" as log on the x3. Dlog on the A4 as far as I remember is a 10-Bit Log Profile but imo a bit too contrasty
Do you know if there's a setting to keep my face in the picture, but move the camera 360, like dual mode for Instagram? Basically, I want to move around my shot, but keep my talking head also showing, but in a small frame / window.
what i know about loop recording is this "Once the memory card has reached its recording limit, dash cam loop recording works by overwriting the oldest files with new video." but as you explain, it`s not the same meaning of loop recording at insta, or it is and i didnt` understand well?
I have my x3 and with the protection lens is very difficult to do the stitching...you need to be extremely careful when you edit the video to not ruin it...
The A.I. Highlights feature does not work for me. I have a lot of footage of 360 8K and 5.7K videos on disney, and I had no A.I. highlights clips on my SD card when I checked them through my Insta360 app on my phone.
Hooray! Someone who recommends avoiding the low sharpness setting. That setting completely negates the advantage of the 8k 360 resolution that is the main marketing feature of the camera. So many 'experts' say that low should be chosen but on this camera it really messes up the image, to a degree that probably would not be fixable in post.
Why isn't the camera working out of the box? And why can it only be unlocked with an Insta360 app? And not even with a PC, only via smartphone... How about making a video about that?

It really depends on your needs - for vlogging and talking head the P3 might be the better choice - for action and to show more of the environment the X4
If scuba diving is your thing don’t buy the X4. The X4 has a dive case preset which has 8K video. I wanted to try my new dive case during a snorkel. I was surprised that it stopped because of ‘over heating’. Or so it notified. Very frustrating for sure. I suspect this overheating problem will be ironed out in the X5.

you have to put all clips on a timeline and create a longer movie

How is the video quality on your 4k tv? Does it heat. Also can you test some random selfie stick. I read that any selfie stick makes it invisible

So when in 8k 360, the film will stitch together and be 4k, did I understand that correctly? The GP 360 stitches to 1080 which is not attractive

No, it doesn't fill up the memory card but the limit is given by a time period, for example 5 or 10 min. etc
