the fact that you could play the arcade versions of the first 3 tekkens was absolutely mind-blowing to me as a kid. definitely something you wont see again in today's gaming world

The only problem was that those 3 mini tekken retro versions inside Tekken 5 had the controls more wonky than their original versions on PS1. The difference in gameplay for me was too much to enjoy them inside Tekken 5 and not boot them all in my PS1. Maybe because the more sensitive controllers were used in games with way less advanced controllers, idk.
You can do this in street fighter 6 you can play the old capcom games and you can actually see arcade machines in game and other people online playing them on little seats it’s pretty cool even though I won’t ever play those old games I tried street fighter 1 and got shit on😂

its a shame cause the game was great, i bought it as a kid, i remember our issue with it being the SMALL roster (casual kids mentality), law having a mustache etc
we were just not ready for a reboot yet
it's a great game, just not really the greatest fighting game, from a casual standpoint, it's amazing, the story was good (rare for a fighting game) and there's nothing more aesthetically pleasing than playing practice mode at night on the rooftop stage, but, the gameplay itself sucked, so i can see where he's coming from, and it's not even about the balancing (og tekken 5 was just as bad when it came to balancing) it's just that the gameplay itself really didn't live up to the hype that tekken 3 and tag created, not to mention that the game was extremely experimental in every single aspect which would obviously make it hard to accept for all people, especially those who have played the series for a long time.
@@No-mn9do I think people were close minded to play the game(even fans) I really think that they can get Tekken 4 approach and enhance the gameplay for a more fast gameplay. Thanks to all of that Tekken story nowadays are a joke and superficial. Tekken 4 was a experience and actually standout and tried the best to bring new stuff do fighting genre. Too sad they took away that vibe.
I loved Tekken 4. I thoroughly agree. The game was revolutionary also and the graphics were great.
T4 is still the last brave game in this series. I hope T8 will be 'new' as much as T4 was - and will bring back some dark story, cool Tekken Force mode, and so on. T5 was quite for a kids ;)
I find it amazing that Harada and the tekken team’s research managed to get absolutely everything right in tekken 5 DR… the music, stages, characters, gameplay, everything was memorable
I prefer T5's music for the most part, Snow Castle is an absolute banger though.

@@Sephivoiceactor woah hang on, tag 2 had good music. The spanish bar theme (flamenco something), the lantern festival shrine, the tulip field, the rainy french stage, twlight castle remix, it had a lot of good tracks. Too dubsteppy for some of them, but otherwise pretty good.
T7 is the one with really cheap, forgetable music.
This is my favorite Tekken game so I'm pretty excited. Unlike Tekken 7, this game does have a lot of interactions between characters and that's one of the reasons why I loved it

I think after TTT2 flopped, T7 almost didn't get made. Very noticeable cut on budget, and you can see that in the customisation options alone.

tekken 5 was technically my first videogame. i have extremely vague memories of playing it on the ps2 when i was probably 6 to 8 years old, and only in 2018 did i eventually find the disc case (no disc sadly), and the ps2 was long gone
I remember playing this game at summer camp on arcade, 2000s were just legendary, what a painful nostalgia.
That Jin story mode was legit hype as a kid ❤️
“Estrada da estela” was the best track from 5. That acid jazz house flip was insane, then them changing the level to night to match. Pristine attention to detail in that one.
I do appreciate how Tekken 5 brought back old favorites and "clone" fighters from the Tekken 2 era to appease their fans and give those characters a shot at establishing their own identities.

Ah. The best Tekken ever made. Tekken 5. The vibe, the stages, the music, Steve Fox being broken, it is fantastic. Tekken 5 is well loved by the people that Namco released Dark Resurrection with more stages, music and 3 more characters with 2 of the 3 are brand new. The last Tekken to have a solid story before it went downhill. Forgot about the customization on Tekken which laid the foundation for Tekken 6 to perfect it.
Tekken 5 was the first to have them speak their native language, which was awesome. However it made mo sense in how they still understood each other haha. Meanwhile Tekken 4 was awesome because in scenes like Hwoarangs ending with Jin, they both knew English as a second language. It was great seeing the more Traditional and reserved Jin have such a strong accent, while the more modern and outgoing Hwoarang spoke English with more clarity. Tekken 4 had alot of flaws but it was the first to be bold enough to go against the grain and try so many new ideas. This type of risk is essential in anyone developing further as you need to make mistakes and or make great leaps forward to understand what works and what doesn't as well as seeing how your consumers respond. I absolutely love the different level changes, the wall tech option, realistic and creative stages like The Building where you move around different structures and sections of the stage while being able to hit and destroy objects like statues, and the beach where you can go in and out of the water, go around trees etc. All of that is extremely realistic and awesome elements for a fighting game that adds tremendous depth and variety for players. Being that it was the first time it needed some work for sure nut the ideas were great.
To me I also stand on Tekken DR being the greatest of all time overall as it's so damn complete. If they were able to perfectly sync in Tekken 4s levels and updated wall tech I know it'd work beautifully. Time and money however doesn't allow for such experiments if it didn't get good feedback the first time, just unfortunate.
The most fun Tekken for me with a group of in person friends is TTT2 hands down. Having 2 on 2 tag matches in the same room with friends all skilled, chemistry in tag combos etc is the fucking best 👌🏿🔥 still praying for TTT3 in the next 10 years 🤣 🙏🏿

Agreed! Tekken tag for me takes what is already a good game, and makes it great. I spent hours learning how each character related to others so I knew how long it took for rage to build up before tagging out
tekken tag 2 is honestly one of the only tekken games i actually dislike, tekken does work well in a tag team system but tag2 was so bloated with characters and nutty ToD combos that were really easy to pull off, i feel like being able to have teams of echo fighters kinda ruins the point of playing a tag team game. most players would just play double capoeira, double Mishimas, double Kings, double Laws. so you're only really playing one character even though you're supposed to be playing 2 different characters. tag2 would've been much better if the roster was half the size imo

I actually appreciate that in Tekken everyone is speaking their own languages but they all seem to understand each other. It may not make realistic sense, but in a game where some of the biggest main players have a devil gene, I'm not too worried about realism.
Loving these videos going over the classics. I loved Tekken 5 so much as a kid. It was only topped by tag 1 due to nostalgia.
Loving these videos on the older games, Tekken 5/dr will always be the pinnacle of the series for me. Hope to see you look at Tekken 3 or Tag1 next

Tekken 5 was my first Tekken game, this video brought back some amazing memories.
as a kid i really loved Tekken 3, i even have Jin's arm tattoo because of it, it inspired me to take up martial arts. But boy oh boy, when Tekken 5 came out, i dunno how much time i spent with it, i can confidently say the time i spent with T5 dwarfs the amount of time i spent with T3, that game was a PS2 absolute masterpiece

Tekken 5 DR was the reason I got into the franchise and still playing to this day, and I completely agreed that this is the best Tekken game of the series.
Hopefully Tekken 8 would be better in the near future.

Tekken 5 is one of the best games in the series.
The memories of this masterpiece popped into my head out of nowhere. Then I found a playlist with the game ost on Spotify. The nostalgia hit me so hard while I was listening to mode select. It's hard to fully describe my love towards tekken 5, I'd just say that playing this game was one of the best gaming experiences of my childhood.
I’m almost 34 and 5 came out when I was in high school. I truly wish online capability was around back then because as much fun as the arcade was we were only around locals. I put in a copious amount of hours into that game but ps3 came out and I was already working all that never had time. I miss the impact 5 had on the series.
Moonlight Wilderness is the best track in T5. Proper send off to PS2 last years as a console.
The 23 years of playing this god-giving game you absolutely have to love and be a true fan in order to treasure hunt and get the true backstory behind this game even for the Lore you have to treasure hunt.. I truly hope this franchise stays alive and for its fans for as long as possible. Everyone that reads this please pray for Tekkens salvation that it'll never become for the general audience!!

I spent so many hours with Tekken 4 and 5, good thing I could play with my sister, but I wish that there was online matching... Although the bandwidth of the time and internet prices were a barrier too
It's still insane how there's a game with ton of content unlocked with progress, arcade modes of older parts, Devil Within (even if it's not that great) - all on a single DVD, without any DLC nonsense. Sounds crazy today.
tbh I dont really even play tekken anymore, and havent since TTT1 but it still has a special place in my heart, all of the tekken games have a banging soundtrack.
TTT1 had theee best soundtrack.. the closing track after defeating unknown is in the top 3 of all video game songs for me

This Tekken never get old
Never really played any tekken despite watching tourneys and content creators for years for but I got invited out by some friends to a barcade sort of place earlier this year and they actually had a nice selection of FG cabinets including Tekken 5 DR. I had a blast playing it, very addicting. My friend and I realized over the course of a few beers and looking up combos and stuff, we hogged the machine for like an hour. Whoops lol, time flies when you’re having fun.
This was one of the first games I popped into my ps2 when I got it (if not the first one) AND THE INTRO... bro... Still gives me chills
I remember buying a deluxe Tekken 5 edition that came with every other previous Tekken game + a giant foldout case for all the discs to go together. I’m sad I don’t have it anymore :(
I played the PSP version, and I have so much nostalgia, Also those Cinematics on that device were insane for the time.

Tekken 5 is my favorite fighting game to this day. I was 8 years old when I first played and I never got bored from playing it with my brothers and friends. Combos weren't extreme like tekken 7 but long enough to do damage that isn't lethal. The intro is definitely perfect with the music GOOSEBUMPS for sure. I wish they bring back "Team Battles" again in Tekken 8 cuz as much as I enjoy playing online, I still want to play it with my casual friends at my house. Hands down best fighting game (for me at least)

My favorite Tekken, probably have hundreds of hours in this game. Me and best friends, cousins, siblings would spent all day playing this game every summer vacation after it came out. Everything was so on point in this game.
Dark Ressurection on ps3 had:
- no other tekkens present
- no devil within
- no interludes
Truly a quality of life update

Tekken 4 and 5 are by far my favourite Tekken games of the Franchise, especially from PS2 Era,The soundtracks is what gets me the most next to the game's atmosphere, and Tekken 4 and 5 soundtracks have the most Iconic soundtracks in my opinion. For me Tekken 4 and 5 remain even in these days the most Unique and Authentic Tekken games of the series. ☯️

I probably got too hyped over Jin's theme for Stage 1 and all the boss fights, but man, I loved exploring those eerie later stages for some reason.
I remember a clip of Maddogjin celebrating at the arcade when he was able to do DJ's laser cannon in a combo again. T5 was a busted game balance-wise but definitely cemented what a Tekken game was supposed to play and look like.
I agree Tekken 5 is the best in the series.

I have tekken 5 dark resurrection on psp. It’s pretty fun actually. The customization was pretty good. The gameplay is pretty good, it takes some practice to get used to but I do pretty good. Though, it’s pretty neat to learn how the other ports are pretty distinct and unique.

TEKKEN 5 is the entry that made me a fan of the series. Before that, I was never particularly a fan of the gameplay. Since 3D fighting games as a genre existed, I was a bigger fan of the Soul Edge/Calibur games, as well as Virtua Fighter and Dead Or Alive series. But like you said - TEKKEN 5 changed all of that. The gameplay, the music, the vibe, etc. just hit me. And to this day, that TEKKEN 5 intro is the best in the mainline entries, bested only by the TEKKEN TAG TOURNAMENT 2 console intro.
I became invested in the series when TEKKEN 5 released on the PS2, and I've owned every entry in the series since. It's to the point that every other 3D fighting series (with the exception of Soul Calibur) seems vastly inferior in comparison. Virtua Fighter, and Dead Or Alive do not hold my attention in the way TEKKEN does. I still own those games, but I don't play them anywhere near as often as I play the later TEKKEN entries.
8:05 I just realised it now that the background voice on this OST is actually counting down from 10 to 5. Such a cool touch to emphasise its placement in the 5th Tekken game.

There were plenty of times I got to play adhoc multiplayer on the PSP with T5DR and T6 on the arcades back then when it was still alive.

This is when my tekken journey started.
I have much love for this game since it's my favorite tekken game (with ttt1 being the exception), it was the best looking tekken game on ps2, some new characters, game modes, and character customization all helped breath new life into the franchise. I loved the intro song to 5 back then and it's my favorite theme song/sequence among all of tekken (after ttt1 also). It also served as a mold for a lot of the features and gamemods of 6 which makes me love 5 all the more.
To think that Tekken 5 is almost as old as me is insane and makes me feel old.

I played it again recently and it’s still so amazing!! I almost never skip the intro, it’s one of the coolest in any game ever, and the song Sparking has been in my brain since I was like 4 years old.
Jinpachi’s still a pain to fight, even on Easy.
