Not only was this the first Tekken game I played, this was the first game I played EVER. And I still own that copy of the game and I still play it to this day.
It really is something, the physics and speed makes the gameplay so fluid even now. I still prefer Tekken 2 as my fave because of its presentation (music, aesthetics, storyline) but when it comes to gameplay and fun, it's hard for anything to beat Tekken 3.
2:42 blew my mind as a kid. Music was just way to hype. Still get chills to this day watching that. The intro to Tekken 3 was amazing as well. I’m glad to be one of the 8.3million that got to play this during its time. Also big shout out to Tekken 5 for having all previous Tekkens to play as well.

Tekken 3 was a phenomenon. Still remember playing it for the first time and being amazed by the graphics, animations, and soundtracks. It was truly an ambitious game, and one that deserved all the praise and success it got.
Tekken 3 was the very first game I ever played as a 4 year old and one of my earliest memories. I would literally be a different person had I never experienced it
I discovered Tekken 3 in a demo disc and I knew after playing as ling and Eddy that I had to try the rest of the roster. I settled on law when I got it, because of how satisfying the backflip was. It was seriously a game like no other.
The demo was on the disc that came with my PS1 and playing as Eddy and flipping all over the place amazed me. So then I showed the demo to my friend and he was amazed and we played it a bunch. When I bought the full game I chose King as my favourite character because he wears a cat mask. It also helped that I was new to wrestling I think the same year as Tekken so him being a wrestler made it even better.
I'll never forget Christmas 1998 at my cousin's house. He had a copy of Tekken 3 and I remember myself and 6 of my cousin's just going nuts playing this. I became a massive Tekken fan that day and still am.
Soundtrack of Tekken 3 is a real masterpiece and still to this days it just amazing and very memorable. I can remember maybe 3-4 music tracks from all Tekken games, but all track I clearly remember in Tekken 3.
My first Tekken game even though i was born quite lately. 97" i grew up into a family who loved gaming. I was legitimately blessed. This era was beautiful, it had everything. Arcade centers and cabinets. Transition from 2D games to 3D. Sega still being relevant in the hardware market. Before i played Tekken 3 and Ridge Racer type 4 on the PS1, i used to play Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the Sega Saturn.
This was the first Tekken game I learnt to use the phoenix smasher on. Not my first one I played but it really sticks out among the best of the tekkens.
Tekken 3 was the most popular game in where I'm from. We used to have Internet Cafe like businesses with PS1's back in the day and people played Tekken 3 all the time. Pretty much everywhere they played this either at sea side, countryside, etc. Used to play it all the time with friends and relatives. Those were some amazing times, more than 20 years ago. Wish I still remembered everything.

This video really captures the visual fidelity and "next gen" nature of Tekken 3. One look at the game and you would question how any of this was possible on a PS1. Then you looked at the roster, movelist and music and you were absolutely floored.
maaan when we randomly unlocked bosconovitch by playing versus mode for months (apparently he would unlock after selecting any character 700 times), we were BLOWN away. Seeing him and his moves was one of the highlights of my childhood. This game was special.
my greatest memory of this game is my dad doing this yoshimitsu move i've still never been able to replicate, it was like he teleported across the screen with a sword slash but his character went pretty much invisible and it was instant

I played this game in an arcade after buying Tekken 8 and was blown away by how well it held up. The electricity of this games release can never be duplicated or relived. I'm happy I was there to experience the hype.

I was WAITING for this one. I found Tekken 3 on a suggestion from a friend when emulating some PS1 games. I saw it all the time as a kid but never played any Tekken. I thought I was just gonna pick up another semi-pleasant fighting game from the past. My life was honestly changed. I feel like I picked up something that should’ve been part of my life from the start. This game series has revitalized the cold dead heart of a jaded MK fan and now, I just appreciate fighting games in general all over again. In short, man…I fucking love Tekken, and I’m glad there’s such a decent community around this franchise.

I have incredible memories where me and my dorm mate would have INTENSE battles. We would be ducking and dodging, throwing and canceling, literally using spacing so perfectly that we would be able to talk through exactly what we were doing to each other. He would eventually get significantly better than me where I couldn’t keep up, but my god it was so fun
