Hey Naoto-san, you're half my age, but you've taught me more about Japanese history than anyone else. You're videos are awesome! Next time I visit Japan, I'll buy you lunch.
Thank you Wada san! There's so much to learn, so I also keep on learning. and it's kind of you, i'll take you up on that :D
Om mane padme hun 🙏
Love from India 🇮🇳❤️😊
Please make a video on What the Japanese Buddhist believe are they properly believe in buddha? And population and aslo about Shintoism.
No Buddha is for humanity
You explain very briefly and also detailed about 廃仏毀釈 in English. How much it is helpful for me to explain about it for my friends that's why my great great great grandfather did 廃仏毀釈 and he lead that movement at that time. As I have the blood of him, I have a kind of duty for passing for next generation what happened for Japanese religion, what my ancestor did...
I actually watched your SCOUTUBE too, I've been in scouting for 21 years since I was beavers, and currently assistant leader of Cubs. Hope you're well, and do your best for scouting and English.
頑張ってください、滋賀県より
Thank you for the comment. Wow, it's really heartbreaking to imagine how the people of the time were feeling about that. Indeed some were in favor of the movement, but others were unwillingly involved. 廃仏毀釈 is definitely the thing we should pass for the next generation.
And I'm surprised that you watched my ScouTube too!😊
It's always happy to encounter someone in scouting.
Thank you so much! ありがとうございます🙏

If you researched about 廃仏毀釈, you may've seen my relative and ancestor's name. Probably, if they hadn't done it, maybe the history would be different. Ironically I was a student of buddhism independent school.
It was really strange coincidence that I saw you on this. I just researched 廃仏毀釈 movie in English and you Naoto san introducing it. As, sometimes I saw Scoutube, how much I was surprised. Your English is different from normal Japanese, even you are a few years younger than me, I really respect you. Not only English, you are Fuji Scout! I'm a kind of lazier scout, you are really an elite!
I'm now following your FB too and if you alright, I'd like to be a friend.
If you have time, please visit Shiga. Here's we have fist Japanese scouting camping site by the lake.
Cheers!
sorry for the late reply.
Wow...! What an irony is that.. It could be also a strange coincidence, that you studied buddhism.
And I was also surprised to hear that! 😊 The experience on Scoutube is underlying the Japanalyst, and myself as a whole.
Thank you, yet I'm still struggling to use English haha.
And also thanks for following my FB! I think I found you on Twitter, whereas on FB there're many requests I've not allowed, which makes hard to find you. Would you kindly resend the request on FB so I can accept?
Thank you, and I hope I can see you in Shiga soon or later.
@@TheJapanalyst Cheers! Do your best and be prepared!
are Kento momota and Nozomi Okuhara Buddhist or Shento ? and which one of two shinto or buddhism is more prominent in Japan ?
Shinto and Buddhism should not be mixed.

See how nature punishes those people who does evil deeds.
When you will post a video then please make a Video on Butsudan .
That's a good suggestion, thanks!
Why you are not posting a video?
I'm just in the middle of the busiest season of my work. I hope I can restart posting video soon!
Without Buddhism there wouldn't be any Martial arts, Dharma, and Naruto in Japan.
japan has native martial arts
Again, a great presentation both in substance & style... but ~ my only bit of constructive criticism is the electronic 'music' at the beginning, which doesn't do justice to you or the subject matter.
Numerous horrible things happened in this period, this and the execution of Sekihoutai, and probably others
You are telling about before meiji period some shrines have buddha statue or you are telling about today?
Today also some shrines have buddha statue?
I was talking about before Meiji period. Today buddhism and shintoism are clearly separated, so basically there's no buddha statue at shrines.
Very good expalin. Even Japanese it is hard to expalin you did great job.

Afaik, Buddhism has integrated with the traditions of the lands it reached(be it pre-Islamic Afghanistan/Bactria, Early Turks in Central Asia, Mongols, India itself, China, South Eastern Asia, Japan, Korea etc.), and anyone who reads about the underlying principles will understand why so. It is more about the concepts of "Karma" and "Mukti", and topics pertaining to religion and existence of god were intentionally left out by Buddha as he, just like other spiritually realized people wanted people to focus first on what can be experienced and understood rather than on the stories(with elements of truth) which might spark imagination and intellectual discussion but of no real value experientially. Therefore, it was not an issue to integrate with the Buddhist thoughts and way of life. Later Buddhists made elaborate rituals to improvise focus and perception based on their needs and understanding and based on how far away were they from the source, in terms of time and distance and this might have come in contrast to or might have amalgamated with the other traditions of those lands.
Even today in India, though with the Upanishads and Vedanta replacing the Buddhist practices long time ago, most Hindus still consider Buddhism as a separate sect of Sanatana Dharma rather than a separate religion(well, there is no concept of religion in traditional India) and even worship Buddha himself as the 9th Avatar of Lord Vishnu, preserver of the universe/creation by keeping it in harmony and balance and also Buddha's sermons are heard and read when moving towards a more spiritual path to separate out the truth from the untruth, along with that of other spiritual giants.
P.S. Sanaatanis or Hindus also have concepts similar to Kami, in terms of Kula-Devata, Gram-Devata and Purvajas and assimilate seamlessly with Vedanta as well as Buddhism. It is only when experiential aspect is missing that intellectual confusion about the unknown takes over!
Bauddha Dharma is considered a leela of Ishavara in the form of Shakyamuni to further Kali Yuga. Bauddha jivis are considered agents of Kali Asura across sampradayas, including but not limited to Advaita, Dvaita Madhava, Vishitadvaita/Sri Vaishnava. There's a reason why Bauddha Dharma needed to removed from Bharata Desha as it corrupted the practice Vaidika marga.

japan self determination culminated in the propagation of state shinto, expressed in shinto worship and state religion which helped japan establish itself as a sovereign nation and lay focus on many values and ideas unique to japan ethos and a statement to the world esp european nations western powers as unique marker of identity and national importance for survival and prosperity of the land and the people of japan. Shintoism helped japan during colonial and modern times and brought about modern change that japan can be self sufficient and help achieve autonomy. According to the needs of the people this surely changed to democratic principles with strong cultural values from the native traditions as well as buddhism and confucianism. Buddhism entered japan because China was a major powerhouse and influence during historical times and Buddhism and confucianism as well as han culture was the very medium through which japan was influenced by China and helped Japan in many ways. During the shogun period zen buddhism was viable for many reasons. And many buddhist tradition helped in coming to terms with philosophical questions. Although shinto does answer many questions and could possibly have a thorough complex yet self evident religious foundation, and is a fully fledged religion just not in comparison to any other religions. Buddhism does provide a framework for a society to be modeled after it and shape and enhance human condition. Japan was heavily influenced by buddhist values and political moral social and economic structures that it would devour even local shinto tradition into the buddhist theology cosmology eschatology and many buddhist temples may have had political and social influence on laypeople and administration that itwould lose its identity therefore they were to be separated because they have different implications. Although shinto has a complicated history with korea and japan itself this is how it came to be possibly. The emphasis of shinto tradition and its importance can be understood in relation to the emperor of japan in pre and postmodern times.

The establishment of the Buddha Sasana and the Buddha statues in the past were created by the kings who ruled their own country but by their own kings. What is good about people who do not know it, killing animals is a sin. But do not do it out of shame and fear. People should be promoted through a religion
