1, Hydrogen: "Pop" sound when taking a flaming splint (matchstick) near the reaction vessel. 2, Oxygen: A "glowing" splint put near the mouth of the reaction vessel, then it will turn out flaming again. 3, Carbon dioxide: Test with lime water, a positive result is turning out a milky solution. 4, Ammonia: Turns red litmus paper to blue. 5, Chlorine: Turns blue litmus paper to red then bleach
If your hearing is impaired, you can put a glass slide over the splint and you will see water droplets made. You can test the water droplets with cobalt chloride paper , which will turn pink.
nice clear video - great summary pages for each test. Just one correction - at 2'28" you say that marble chip is calcium chloride, when it is calcium carbonate.
Fantastic and so useful during lockdown - thank you. I really like the replacement of the tiny electrolysis equipment that we have - you could still collect the gases in upturned ignition tubes. Brilliant, thank you again
I got a question when he was testing for co2 gas he said that marble chips are calcium chloride. How’s that? I think marble chips are calcium carbonate not calcium chloride. Isn’t that correct?
Istg, this is the best chemistry practical video I've ever seen!! It's sooo nice and clear. Your video is soo helpful for me as an IGCSE (9-1) student. Thank you a lott 🤍
Hi Obla, I used HCl. The more concentrated the acid the quicker the reaction (hydrogen gets produced faster), the more dilute the acid the slower the reaction (hydrogen gets produced slower).
Nice but it's not calcium chloride, it's calcium carbonate that produces carbon dioxide with hydrochloric acid. U can't edit the TH-cam video, so I suggest u comment it and pin it. Or pin mine 🙂
Hi yes it was a slip of the tongue as I was recording. I added a card at the top of the video but I think some viewers don’t get the card. Thanks for flagging.

this is better than the other video my teacher sent on google classroom
Im here from Google classroom sent by my teacher 😉

Same cuz all of y7,8 and 10 got sent home

Who else had this for your lockdown science lesson
I did

Omg yes
nahhh, evryone sub, he deserves so much more subscribers. legend.
Guy: so when you light the hydrogen gas, it should make a popping sound.
*Deaf people: Am i a joke to you?*
Those who cannot hear well, can put a glass slide above the splint and will observe droplets of water made.

Thanks, I got confused too

this was actually so helpful, thanks ☺️✌🏼✨🧚🏼♀️
Awesome! Pleased it helped. 😃
very useful and amzing explaination
Marble chips are calcium carbonate are they not? There's no way that HCl + CaCl2 will yield CO2....
THANK YOU SO MUCH, TOMORROW I HAVE GASES TEST FOR OXYGEN, HYDROGEN, CARBON DIOXIDE AND CHLORINE ITS USEFUL AND HELP ME TOO MUCH
Pleased it helped!
very well explained and very helpful thank you
Nice one!
writing Alevel chem prac tomorrow veryyyyy useful thank youuuuu loaddssssssss of love from zimbabwe
Eecellent clear demos, with great voice. Thanks
This was actually helpful. Thanks sir..❤😊
The explaination video.u explained it better than my teacher❤

It’s calcium carbonate
This was very useful... thanks...
Brilliant video but please correct the name of the calcium compound used for CO2 - obviously just a slip. Great video though
My teacher sent this to me. Very helpful! We're learning properties of gases
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback.
You are using calcium carbonate (not calcium chloride) to prepare carbon dioxide
Well spotted! I didnt realise I had said that. I will find a way to add that in.
Yes that’s right- well spotted!
Your are good teacher I dream to be
Thanks for this.
I love your summaries!
This is wonderful thank you....got an igcse exam tomorrow 😃
I am pleased it was useful. Thanks
im doing this in year 8 bruh

THANK U, this was really helpful
Superb presentation excepting more video like this 👍👍👍👍👍👍😀😀😍😍😘😘
BTW where are u from, sir
Thank you so much 😀
Really helpful!
Please sir can you try to test CO2 with a glowing splint since CO2 is a fire extinguisher it will off the flame
we are encouraged to say "a white precipitate forms" rather than "the limewater turns milky/cloudy"
There's another way to test for CO2: trap the gas in a test tube, light a splint and place it in the test tube.
*The flame will extinguish*
Most excited lesson....
this was totally useful thank you!
Thanks so much for this experiment
Very useful summary!🧪

Thank you so much Sir, I request you to help us more with videos like these
yeah
My science teacher said I should watch this for class
you are the best ihave ever seen
instead of making carbon dioxide, just bubble with your mouth through a straw, the mouth already produces carbon dioxide when breathing
thank you, that was very helpful
very useful, thank you
Really helped me
Good video 🎉😊
2:27 won’t it be calcium carbonate and not calcium chloride as calcium chloride + hcl doesn’t produce CO2
You are absolutely correct! Slip of the tongue when making the video.
Great video!
MERCI BEAUCOUP
Thank you !!!
nice video
Thanks
Thank you sir 💪🏼
Marble is not Calcium Chloride but calcium carbonate
Well spotted. I didn’t realise I had said that when posting the video. I will try to get something to pop up to correct it.

Cool science
So helpful
Glad you think so!
Can i use concentrated acids for getting better results?
Higher concentration will result in a faster rate of reaction.
How do I test for something I already what it is? It already has label. To be authentic it shouldn’t be know
Great
good
Sir I am confused while you testing for hydrogen what you have added Dil or concentrated HCl I think it is concHcl due to fumes am I right
Hi Obla, I used HCl. The more concentrated the acid the quicker the reaction (hydrogen gets produced faster), the more dilute the acid the slower the reaction (hydrogen gets produced slower).
Thankyou ❤️
Thank you🤩
Thank u
the last thing you forgot is to bubble the gas produced through limewater which turns cloudy as a positive result
He did say that tho..?
👌
it's perfect
