I really like this trend of natural, light coverage foundations, I just wish done of the companies making them realized people still have skin after age 25. So many of these are clearly not designed for even mildly mature skin. It's really disappointing. Again I say, don't they realize we have money?
I'm not sure if it can explain my situation so it is clear, but sometimes when using foundation, it looks great in the mirror but if I look in my magnifying mirror (yikes) it looks like there are little dots of make up all over my face. It looks blended ny naturL eye ...not sure if I am making sense, but anyone know what I'm talking about and wht it means?? Thanks!!

I actually have a more ‘burnt’ type result from the ‘hydrating’ type sheer coverage like the Wet & Wild hydration product. It leaves my face looking like I have a ‘mascane’ situation. The only thing different I’ve tried is the hydration type products like the one I mentioned. I’ll have to look & see what other ones I’ve tried. Tomorrow I’m trying the Covergirl Outlast extreme wear 3 in 1. I think the trouble I’m having is that I’m super dehydrated all the time and the hylaronic acid grabs moisture from somewhere and it’s leaving little ‘blister’ type mini bumps in it’s wake. Anyone else get ‘burnt’ from any foundations??

This is so ironic ending up in my news feed after being an hour late to work this morning because of this DANG FOUNDATION! I completely agree with you about wanting to wash off and that’s exactly what I had to do this morning! I’m combo leaning dry and. It’s absolutely NOT HYDRATING! It’s god awful. Thanks for the review. I hate I broke a $10 bill on this crap.

I actually love that foundation! I’ve been wearing it a lot lately, it lasts all day with me! And it doesn’t settle in lines or emphasize texture! It’s very smoothing like you said, But I do have a different skin type then you mines is more oily/ normal so I like that it doesn’t make me an oil slick which I love but I do agree it’s not that hydrating it’s more like a satin matte
I think it's nice but the name is misleading. It's quite dry and matte even on my normal/oily combo skin. I'll dry to mix in with Mac F&B, don't know if it works :)
Waste of money foundation. Guys please don't try it.i use this foundation and I don't like it because it's like a moisturizer and very light covarge.it is used as a bb cream is good but as a foundation not good for teenagers is good.

I’m still searching for the perfect foundation for my dry skin, this winter is wreaking havoc on my skin!! I’m washing, using my serums (I use the ordinary) creams and face masks to help with moisture and hopefully some of the fine lines but I know they can only do so much lol!! But I can’t thank you enough for recommending the flower beauty light illusion perfecting powder!! It’s amazing!! I’ve never tried the Charlotte Tilbury powder but heard amazing things but I’m so glad this is the dupe for it at such a great price!!
I have combo/sensitive skin (rosacea) and this is my current foundation. I actually love this foundation. Mixed with estee lauder double wear is beautiful .

Yep. I bought it, put some on my hand, smelled it, returned it. I can not take flowery scents in makeup. You are spot on. Never made it to my face. I am glad now. I have super dry skin.
I have dry/combo skin and this is my current favorite foundation. Plays well under my skincare and sunscreens. I live I. Houston, but used it while on vacay to Colorado and it was amazing. Also, on a recent road trip, this lasted over 24 hours 😳…definitely not something I usually do, but it was great. I reached for it over the new UD and the PS BBB tinted foundation as well as the rest of my stash. It’s been great. Just goes to show how different makeup works on everyone.
Well darn it...it sounds like it's going to be another not great one. I'm sorry that you have to put tarps up over everything. But at least you get new rooms from it. I don't know if you picked anything up when there was a sale recently but I just got my Sydney Grace order in today. Nothing worse when you have dry skin, and makeup feels like shrink-wrap. That happened with the Elf CC cream. Ugh. Another one down the tube. You are right. It looks nice, but if it feels dry, it's not good. Onward and upward to the next. Hope you enjoyed your game! ❤💓

30ml is technically 1.01oz, but most companies round up or down to the nearest tenth. It seems like in this wave of hydrating and natural foundations, Wet n Wild Bare Focus has beat everyone. Besides the lack of shade range (which is problematic and hopefully will be fixed soon), it's been pretty universally liked over anything else.

I just looked up the converter and because I've been comparing some other products, I had noticed that companies usually round to the tenth. Somewhat off topic, but do you remember learning the metric system when you were in school because all countries were going to use it? I wonder whatever happened to that?

I tend to buy cool when it's an option just by personal preference. Most of the year I prefer the look of a cool undertone, except in the summer if I have a little self tan I prefer neutral. I come up just a tick on the cool side of neutral with the Sephora shade thing that they scan your face with. I wonder if they still do that. I had it done years ago.
Great review as always Shelly. Thanks for that. Speaking of dry flaking skin, I recently bought on yesstyle (using your code also) the Purito Centella Green Level Recovery cream. I had heard it was great for the tretinoin peelies. It's also bloody brilliant at reducing redness as my chest exploded in a red lumpy rash from the tret. Three days of using the cream at night and my chest is back almost to normal. It's very hydrating too. I wonder if you've tried it yet. I've yet to hit the "peelie" stage so I don't know what it's like for that yet. Just thought I'd mention it in case you hadn't heard about it/tried it. Thanks for sharing and take care gorgeous. Oh wow I haven't tried the cream yet but the toner in the same line is brilliant as well!! Now I need the cream! I love Purito. My skin is so happy with their products.
It looks pretty, Shelly, but my dust-dry skin just cannot tolerate a drying product. I'm glad you mentioned the down side to hyaluronic acid--most people don't! I live in a very, very cold winter climate with zero humidity, and HA makes my skin look like dry, wrinkled, crepe-paper--NOT a good look for anyone. So glad to see the always-beautiful Ziva in the background--please convey my apologies to her for mistakenly referring to her as "Diva" in a previous comment. (I'm suitably ashamed for the error!) 😹 Ahhh if you met her, you'd see that any attention even remotely in her direction is greeted with the most abundant excitement and joy. She doesn't care what you call her as long as you're talking to her! I was originally going to name a pair of cats Ziva and DiNozzo after the characters in NCIS, and I got Ziva, but then the next 2 cats I got were female so that kind of ruined my plan. So she's Ziva and I no longer have themed cat names (Daffy and Polly kept their names from the shelter!) 😹
They are. I think Polly still has days where she looks around meowing and she has starting sleeping in all of Mer's old spots. I can't tell if it's because she misses him or if she's just asserting herself as the elder now... but I think it's the former.

So long!! It's been almost 9 months now. Between covid delays and material delays and weather delays... I'm just hoping it's done by spring at this point.
Every brand is different which makes it even harder, and sometimes even within the same brand they aren't consistent. I start with looking it up on findation.com to see if it's on there. That usually gets me in the right ballpark. Then I go on the web site and look at the shade that it recommended for me and see if it seems reasonable. I'll usually pick what it says, though sometimes I'll tweak it one shade up or down if the descriptions or swatches don't look right. But it's always a gamble. That's why I do the swatches in my videos, so that hopefully if you've got a similar one you can at least see if this brand runs lighter or darker than something you're familiar with. I'm often wrong on what I pick online! It's hard.

My skin is so dry and I have lot of redness from rosacea that’s a pain to cover. it’s hard trying to a foundation with lasting power that’s not matte. Lancôme is what I’m using now, it works pretty good, but I feel like there has to be something better. Have you tried the IT cosmetics bye bye redness? I’m thinking about that One, but I’m scared, The reviews are so back and forth and I can’t find many reviews on dry skin and so far I haven’t found any green concealer that works for my skin 🤦🏼♀️ I just want a natural skin like foundation that doesn’t wear or break down and I’m running out of products to try 😪😪
Glad to see your skin didn't suffer any lasting damage from the Catrice foundation. I think Ziva wants her own channel! Lol! :D I do love Essence makeup, specifically their eyeshadow palettes and matte lipsticks. I think the shade on this foundation looks pretty good but the drying factor is a no go. Bummer..... Good news! I finally found a tube of the Wet n Wild tinted hydrator! My Target had them in stock but took 2 weeks to get them out on the sales floor because they reorganized the cosmetics department.....again! It's the first Wet n Wild foundation that actually looks decent on me. Stay safe Shelly. :-)

On Zoom yes :) I wish I could remember the name of the software - we use DnD Beyond but there's this software that the DM uses that has campaign maps and avatars for each of us and monsters and all that. It's really cool and I'm clearly not searching the right words because google isn't helping me find it 😂 He shares his screen in Zoom and we can all see it, and take control of the screen to move our characters etc.

Suuuuper interesting about the hyaluronic acid! I’d be super curious to hear your opinion on the Youth To the People daily moisturizer with hyaluronic acid being used in a cold winter climate. My skin is soooo dry and maybe that’s why!
It definitely could be!! One way you can continue to use products with HA is if you try adding multiple layers of any hydrating spray in between your steps beneath the moisturizer. Preferably spray without alcohol, but I've used the Pixi Milky Mist (which does have a little bit of alcohol) with no problems. Caudlie grape water spray or the Evian face mist are also good. That way you're feeding it some moisture to draw and hold on to, hopefully enough that when it can't find any moisture in the air around you, it won't have to dig into your skin for it.
Hi Shelley I can't use anything with a lot of HA during the Winter, but it's ok in the Summer. This might be the case with this one. A combination of already irritated skin, no primer and being in the midst of Winter may have not given it the best chance tbh. It might be worth trying again in the Spring or Summer. I have very dry skin year round and as that's the palest shade it's a no go for me anyway. I have never had any luck with the complexion products from essence, but their colour cosmetics tend to be better. It's a very hit and miss brand for me overall. The make me brow, the eye primer, the eyeliners and mascaras are usually pretty good and the lip products are fine. The shade range in the complexion products is fairly limited so I tend to pass them by for base/foundation. The tightness you're feeling is probably due to the irritation from the catrice foundation - my skin usually needs a few days to fully recover. Best wishes.
@@goow Yes the make me brow is a really good product and their lightest shade is a better match for me than the elf option. Try the long wear eye liners as they're really good, even on the waterline. x

I’ve found Essence to be more hit or miss than a lot of brands. That said, thanks for doing the legwork on this because my skin is dry too.

I tend to buy cool when it's an option just by personal preference. Most of the year I prefer the look of a cool undertone, except in the summer if I have a little self tan I prefer neutral. I come up just a tick on the cool side of neutral with the Sephora shade thing that they scan your face with. I wonder if they still do that. I had it done years ago.

Great review as always Shelly. Thanks for that. Speaking of dry flaking skin, I recently bought on yesstyle (using your code also) the Purito Centella Green Level Recovery cream. I had heard it was great for the tretinoin peelies. It's also bloody brilliant at reducing redness as my chest exploded in a red lumpy rash from the tret. Three days of using the cream at night and my chest is back almost to normal. It's very hydrating too. I wonder if you've tried it yet. I've yet to hit the "peelie" stage so I don't know what it's like for that yet. Just thought I'd mention it in case you hadn't heard about it/tried it. Thanks for sharing and take care gorgeous. Oh wow I haven't tried the cream yet but the toner in the same line is brilliant as well!! Now I need the cream! I love Purito. My skin is so happy with their products.
It looks pretty, Shelly, but my dust-dry skin just cannot tolerate a drying product. I'm glad you mentioned the down side to hyaluronic acid--most people don't! I live in a very, very cold winter climate with zero humidity, and HA makes my skin look like dry, wrinkled, crepe-paper--NOT a good look for anyone. So glad to see the always-beautiful Ziva in the background--please convey my apologies to her for mistakenly referring to her as "Diva" in a previous comment. (I'm suitably ashamed for the error!) 😹 Ahhh if you met her, you'd see that any attention even remotely in her direction is greeted with the most abundant excitement and joy. She doesn't care what you call her as long as you're talking to her! I was originally going to name a pair of cats Ziva and DiNozzo after the characters in NCIS, and I got Ziva, but then the next 2 cats I got were female so that kind of ruined my plan. So she's Ziva and I no longer have themed cat names (Daffy and Polly kept their names from the shelter!) 😹

They are. I think Polly still has days where she looks around meowing and she has starting sleeping in all of Mer's old spots. I can't tell if it's because she misses him or if she's just asserting herself as the elder now... but I think it's the former.

How do you find your correct shade in drug store foundation? I can not for the life of me figure out the shade ranges 😪
Every brand is different which makes it even harder, and sometimes even within the same brand they aren't consistent. I start with looking it up on findation.com to see if it's on there. That usually gets me in the right ballpark. Then I go on the web site and look at the shade that it recommended for me and see if it seems reasonable. I'll usually pick what it says, though sometimes I'll tweak it one shade up or down if the descriptions or swatches don't look right. But it's always a gamble. That's why I do the swatches in my videos, so that hopefully if you've got a similar one you can at least see if this brand runs lighter or darker than something you're familiar with. I'm often wrong on what I pick online! It's hard.

My skin is so dry and I have lot of redness from rosacea that’s a pain to cover. it’s hard trying to a foundation with lasting power that’s not matte. Lancôme is what I’m using now, it works pretty good, but I feel like there has to be something better. Have you tried the IT cosmetics bye bye redness? I’m thinking about that One, but I’m scared, The reviews are so back and forth and I can’t find many reviews on dry skin and so far I haven’t found any green concealer that works for my skin 🤦🏼♀️ I just want a natural skin like foundation that doesn’t wear or break down and I’m running out of products to try 😪😪

Glad to see your skin didn't suffer any lasting damage from the Catrice foundation. I think Ziva wants her own channel! Lol! :D I do love Essence makeup, specifically their eyeshadow palettes and matte lipsticks. I think the shade on this foundation looks pretty good but the drying factor is a no go. Bummer..... Good news! I finally found a tube of the Wet n Wild tinted hydrator! My Target had them in stock but took 2 weeks to get them out on the sales floor because they reorganized the cosmetics department.....again! It's the first Wet n Wild foundation that actually looks decent on me. Stay safe Shelly. :-)

On Zoom yes :) I wish I could remember the name of the software - we use DnD Beyond but there's this software that the DM uses that has campaign maps and avatars for each of us and monsters and all that. It's really cool and I'm clearly not searching the right words because google isn't helping me find it 😂 He shares his screen in Zoom and we can all see it, and take control of the screen to move our characters etc.

Suuuuper interesting about the hyaluronic acid! I’d be super curious to hear your opinion on the Youth To the People daily moisturizer with hyaluronic acid being used in a cold winter climate. My skin is soooo dry and maybe that’s why!
It definitely could be!! One way you can continue to use products with HA is if you try adding multiple layers of any hydrating spray in between your steps beneath the moisturizer. Preferably spray without alcohol, but I've used the Pixi Milky Mist (which does have a little bit of alcohol) with no problems. Caudlie grape water spray or the Evian face mist are also good. That way you're feeding it some moisture to draw and hold on to, hopefully enough that when it can't find any moisture in the air around you, it won't have to dig into your skin for it.
It gave a lovely glow & smooth finish in the sunlight

Hi Shelley I can't use anything with a lot of HA during the Winter, but it's ok in the Summer. This might be the case with this one. A combination of already irritated skin, no primer and being in the midst of Winter may have not given it the best chance tbh. It might be worth trying again in the Spring or Summer. I have very dry skin year round and as that's the palest shade it's a no go for me anyway. I have never had any luck with the complexion products from essence, but their colour cosmetics tend to be better. It's a very hit and miss brand for me overall. The make me brow, the eye primer, the eyeliners and mascaras are usually pretty good and the lip products are fine. The shade range in the complexion products is fairly limited so I tend to pass them by for base/foundation. The tightness you're feeling is probably due to the irritation from the catrice foundation - my skin usually needs a few days to fully recover. Best wishes.
That Catrice was a doozy!! The one Essence thing I know I've bought multiples of is their brow.
@@goow Yes the make me brow is a really good product and their lightest shade is a better match for me than the elf option. Try the long wear eye liners as they're really good, even on the waterline. x

Most foundations have a form of silicone. Dimethicone is in many moisturizers too like Aveeno.
