I completed the BIAYP last year and I just want to say that at first I thought the way it's going to be read is a bit crazy! Looking at the reading plan it seemed all over the place. But it works! It's a brilliant way to read the Bible and listening as well really helped me. Having the speech on TH-cam is another plus. So thank you again Fr Mike and Jeff Calvin. Fr Mike, I have started with you today on 1 Jan 2023. I agree that God is doing something in my heart and God is seeking me. He keeps reminding me that He loves me as He has always done, but I am struggling with making a huge mistake and lost my way after decades of walking with God. I am broken emotionally. I started reading my Bible again as felt if I had been reading my Bible as I use to I would never have made a bad decision whilst anxious and depressed, but I am struggling to concentrate and feel lost. I hope this will take the struggle off me. I tried to start at the beggining and got to the place in the Old Testament where all the names are of who was who and who begat who and thought 'Lord, you got to be kidding me' and went back to the New Testament to start there again as I always did. I am not going to do anything perfectly as know I am inclined to be a perfectionist and know it is just too hard to keep that up anymore but please God I will persevere. Thank you for this. Please Lord help Fr Mike. Amen. xx
I finished yesterday and have started over today. I highly recommend that you watch Fr. Mike's other podcasts on TH-cam. Countless times I have heard him say that God loves you as you are, not for any potential you have, or as the result of anything you have done. Below is a list of 7 books that Catholics include and that Protestants don’t. Tobit Judith Wisdom (also called the Wisdom of Solomon) Sirach (also called Ecclesiasticus) Baruch 1 Maccabees 2 Maccabees Overall, I think this podcast is great for all Christians. It is Bible-focused doesn’t go into the administrative areas where Catholics and Protestants tend to disagree (Popes, Marriage, Eucharist/communion etc.) Do you have a church community you participate in? If yes, what denomination? I’m curious how you ended up here since we might come from a similar history. I wasn’t raised Catholic, but I married a non-practicing Catholic. We have recently decided to attend Mass and I’m converting. Why? The world is really broken right now. Over time, I’ve come to realize that its best if a family sticks together, and I think in some ways God’s family (the church) has gone through a series of disputes that lead to spiritual divorces. But we are all part of the same family and I’m praying for Christians to reunite and honor one anothers’ differences. Anyway, my Catechist recommended this podcast and I LOVE it. I think that’s a fair statement Michael, but it’s what most Christian churches do in their services. In the Catholic mass we have various parts of the liturgy of the Word of God (scriptures). The liturgy for that day is taken from the old and new testaments in the first reading, then the psalm, next is the 2nd reading, followed by the Gospel reading. I know many Anglican Church services follow a very similar pattern too. I hope that helps. 🙏

Overall, I think this podcast is great for all Christians. It is Bible-focused doesn’t go into the administrative areas where Catholics and Protestants tend to disagree (Popes, Marriage, Eucharist/communion etc.)
Do you have a church community you participate in? If yes, what denomination? I’m curious how you ended up here since we might come from a similar history.
I wasn’t raised Catholic, but I married a non-practicing Catholic. We have recently decided to attend Mass and I’m converting. Why? The world is really broken right now. Over time, I’ve come to realize that its best if a family sticks together, and I think in some ways God’s family (the church) has gone through a series of disputes that lead to spiritual divorces. But we are all part of the same family and I’m praying for Christians to reunite and honor one anothers’ differences.
Anyway, my Catechist recommended this podcast and I LOVE it.

Readings from different books on the same day is confusing.
I think that’s a fair statement Michael, but it’s what most Christian churches do in their services. In the Catholic mass we have various parts of the liturgy of the Word of God (scriptures). The liturgy for that day is taken from the old and new testaments in the first reading, then the psalm, next is the 2nd reading, followed by the Gospel reading. I know many Anglican Church services follow a very similar pattern too. I hope that helps. 🙏

Can someone shed some light on genesis 6? Ive had some people tell me the Sons of God were angels who slept with humans and some say they arent angels. Angels are called Sons of God sometimes. I always thought maybe that's how the giants came about or nephelim
