I can literally hear Colin speaking through her 😂 it’s uncanny.
She makes that drum sound so good, sound quality is amazing
Nic?
@@spfhoops someone whose name I don’t know because it’s the internet? Wussup how you been
A very well thought out explanation and easily understood. What a great opportunity for
young and old drummers alike to learn some of Boston's book the correct way. When I
was coming up, we had to play along with the D.C.I. records over and over until we
thought we had the rhythms, diddle patterns and flams in the correct place. Today's
music is so much more complicated and this really helps. This also gives us a deeper
appreciation of what you guys and gals are playing. You are appreciated!
Annnnnnnd now we all understand why they are so good. Talented, articulate, and smart.
Great video, thanks for making it BAC!
The explanation and breakdown into words is fantastic. Thank you guys for sharing this. Mad chops! What an outstanding group of talent!
This musician has made me a fan. Respect.
She's such a great player, educator and even more of a great person.
It looked really hard but her explanation was so perfect I understand it really well now and could go ahead and learn it if I wanted to now!
I love that this explanation goes beyond just what we can see on the transcription. A lot of these breakdowns just tell you what to play, but not how to get the feel right
I think boston definitely has one of the crispiest cleanest sounding snare line and I love it so much
Fantastic, well done all around.
Well done jovanna I you are not only a great and talented drummer 🥁 and young woman but you are doing great job of leading the bac drumline,I hope you will think of being an awesome and amazing drum 🥁 instructor for your future. I am going to be at the Lawrence show in August. I wish you all the best in the rest of the drum corps season. Let's go bac. We alumni are very proud of each of you wearing the uniform of the 2023 Boston crusaders family 👪.
Yes! 💚💚🥁🥁💚💚🥁🥁
Excellent job Jovanna!!
Sound quality is unreal. Such a good player (and drum tuned so well)
I saw you guys live yesterday and man do those pearl drums project! Between bloo and BAC y’all’s snares were way easier to hear from the stands.
that sound quality is so good
This is an amazing show this year! Great breakdown of a small section and all that goes into an elite drum corps production. Members learn so much being part of a drum corps, not only in their musical or color guard abilities, but in life lessons. Thank you for sharing this.
That drum sounds heavenly. What do you guys tune to?
thank.
Thank. Now you can see whether or not you made some mistakes. Looks like you were pretty close!
Jovanna making OBFP proud!
is that the group that became world class mid season this year?
Yeppers!
J is part of a very talented OB staff. Great drummer and educator!!
OBFP for life!!!
Incredible playing zones
Let's go jovanna
SO COOL! YOU ROCK!👏🙂👏
An idol.
There's so much "drum talk" in this video I'm so here for it lol
Great job
Awesome writing and even a better explantion!! Thanks Gurl!!
Great video!
On paper it seems unachievable, but she gave a great explanation. I wish I had the hands to attempt to learn it.
For the algorithm. ✊
very talented drummer
Oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh
fire hat
Yo the bird at 2:30
yew!
Just curious -- as a drum set player, I'm not that familiar with marching drums, but aren't marching snares insanely loud? When I see videos like this and the performance at the end of this clip, the sound is so much quieter than I would expect. Are they playing on some kind of low volume heads? Cool video!
I mean, yeah, a snare line is inherently loud. Not always depending on the music. I always wore ear pro when I played. Not sure of any "head" they use to get the sound down. They were made of Kevlar material when I marched. Certain sticks can be used like for indoor percussion shows. Dynamics can always control the volume. They may have cooler stuff now, lol. I marched in the late 90s and early 2000s.
👏🥁🔥🥁🔥🥁🔥🥁🔥🥁🔥🥁🔥🥁🔥🥁👏
DO THIS WITH THE COLOR GUARD WORK IM BEGGING YOU!!!!
Love to see a female heading into the instructor ranks.👍🥁
isn't the explanation for the crescendo roll into jelly roll incorrect? she is playing the right hand check as a shuffle but wouldn't the right hand rhythm stay consistent but offset by 1 partial? great explanation otherwise and incredible sound quality
Not only are they 4's, they're on the left hand lol
Imo 2-4's are a lot easier than 4-2's, you'd think the left would be harder but it's actually a lot easier cause you can just press down
Jovanna plays the living beans out of the drum
I see what ya did there…boston and beans. Bravo! She’s got a bright future for sure.
@@unclemonster48you're the only one making that connection.
OH MY GOD THEY WERE FIVELETS AND SIXLETS
I notice she didn't march Mesquite. i hope she is ok.
Kind of hard without any sheets with the explanations
did you not see the notations at the beginning of the vid ?
@@greggchaffin1596 I am 99% certain they are implying it would have been a much more useful narrative to have the sheets for each rhythm she was breaking down on the screen during those moments. Opening the video twice or snipping the sheets at the start is a pain.,
@@DrumRollTonyReacts well thank god for technology because you can open multiple browser windows.
Split screen one with the sheets paused and the other half plays the video.
Problem solved.
Don’t find problems, find solutions.
@@greggchaffin1596 lol no kidding Greg, so profound. It's just silly af that the original editor didn't go past minimum effort for a video that is marketed as a learn the beats educationa type content.
@@DrumRollTonyReacts i agree with you 100%. it takes an extra what.... 10 minutes of editing to add it in?
this is staccato as hell
Why would you not leave the music on screen while its getting broken down?
Noice! But why are the guys wearing girl outfits, too? Terrible uniform choice those year, Crusaders.
