Hopefully everyone will also check out our videos in the Zildjian Learning Zone channel as well! We just posted an awesome final production run from the Bluecoats front ensemble here: th-cam.com/video/TZG9Q9bdGt8/w-d-xo.html
These guys had the biggest DCI lot crowd I’ve ever seen. It felt like being in a WGI lot with how many people there were, and how close everyone was. Kudos to the line for playing well in the lot under the increased scrutiny.
Favorite line of the year, everything from the groovy warmups and mega aggressive show beats to the Pearl drums, tuning, and Colins vest were just on point
Saw these guys live in Broken Arrow. Ice cold vibes the whole time and I fell in love with the book. Hoping for a Sanford next year, they deserve that and more with how far they've come. Also, love the vibe out by center snare at 3:36 lol. Reminds me of the days.
One of the best lines ever! I didnt get to check if they won drums but by the comments sounds like SCV did it again. Kudos to them but this line was in your face 5 seconds into the show with high quality, tasty A$$ Beats!! I wish i was able to see them live cuz i missed one the best ever!! Congrats on the Awesome season Boston!!!!
Actually Bluecoats got top drums! Remember though, judges are not allowed on the field anymore, so the judges are exposed to the front ensemble a lot more than they used to be.
@@buckdacious my top two were definitely Coats and Boston. Bloo only took it by .016666 which is crazy. But even from the nosebleeds where I was sitting, they were undeniable. All the finalist percussion groups were phenomenal this year. I’m also a little biased because I marched with someone on Coats’ snareline. But man the growth they had in the final three days was something else.
the sound quality of these drums, the technical precision of the drummers, and the complexity of the drum exercises and show tunes is just incredibly, Wicked Awesome!!! Top Notch all the way!! Looking forward to an even better season next year, 2023. ✌😁
With all of the corps great 👍drumlines in our rich history 👏I think you guys and girls are the best 👌line in the history of the Boston crusaders known as the bac forever ,cannot wait to see you back in 2023
I heard a dci judges tape from ‘06 Phantom in which the judge said something like that roll was a little off, but WHO CARES you’re so good. That’s all I can think about with this line. They were the best and the judges not being on the field were the reason they didn’t win. Many lines were good this year, but no line was better than this one. Period.
I hope this drumline stays together for a few more years... even though some will age out... If I was still eligible to march in DCI, I would want to be in a drumline like that one....✌️🥁
One of the greatest lines in DCI history and didn’t get the Sanford. Really need to get judges back out on the field. One of the most challenging books ever as well.
Can somebody tell me what happened with Crusaders? Years ago, no one ever batted an eye, at least in terms of percussion finalists, it was always the usual suspects: BD, Bluecoats, SCV, Cavs, Cadets... Am I missing something about a new Crusaders age? Did they get a new caption head or something 🤔??
Every year lol the dude that flims for this channel (the one with the hat) in the lots shows up and just walks in front of anyone and everyone that already setup their camera spot. Anyone and everyone. So wild to me. I parked my ass behind the basses this year knowing what lot etiquette was coming. LMAO
We hear you. It's always awkward to walk in front of everyone, but there are a LOT of individuals filming in the lot for themselves or their own channel. Ultimately, the companies pay thousands of dollars in free product, plus countless hours of support for the groups. If we didn't have this opportunity to produce high quality videos for marketing the brand, we probably would be asked to scale back our support. Hopefully everyone enjoys the benefit of having this level of video production and can excuse us for the intrusion!
@@vicfirthmarching That was the weakest, most nonsensical, most entitled response you could possibly have given. You're saying, "We spend a lot of money on this footage, so we should get to step on the everyday people who don't." But you also MAKE a lot of money. And you know who you make that money OFF of? The same people you're stepping on. You sound exactly like the snake who bites you in private, and then offers you anti-venom in public, so that he looks like a hero. No wonder people say the U.S. aren't a country. They're a COMPANY. Because of corporations exactly like you.
WHY???Let me elaborate. In my early career I got bounced out of the whole drum line bcs I was head & shoulders taller than what was the norm in those days. It made no sense. I aced all my performance tests. I demonstrated how fast I was @ learning new material. I demonstrated mastery of all the classic drum solos all the newbies were taught. I kept up w/everybody - including my instructor - on everything we did, including the long roll. I had no trouble w/any of the rudiments. But they yanked me out of the drum line & tossed me into the horn line & even my drum.instructor was mystified. She had already advanced the idea of breaking me in on rudimental. But they had this idea of this cookie cutter picture of this all-the-same drum line looking like a cute little machine & I was out. Nearly a month later., our director felt so bad for me that one practice during break he called me aside & gave me my own practice pad & snare & tenor sticks to keep. It was the only time I felt like anyone had noticed. But I was still out.
@@shadycrescent9369 I’ve been a drummer for 35 years. Used to do drum corps, and was a touring drummer. Known lots of drummers who focus on their drumming. Don’t know any that look like they hate it so much.
All their energy is focused on performing in the lot. They're not focused on catering to high school underclassmen fanboys like certain other lines. This is a throwback line.
@@karmew32 nah, some of their focus is on actively looking “intense” or ticked off, or whatever they’re going for. There’s no way on earth there’s a whole drumline of people who’s resting drumming faces all match and all look angry. That’s a look they’re focused on achieving.

If there was ever a line that won drums without winning drums, it was this one.
Agreed.

Bluecoats 2008 is probably the best example of this.

1:24 - Spanks
4:48 - Red's Rhumba Redux
If you were there the crowd was mental, literally less then a foot from the quads is how close we were and how high energy that lot was
It’s like they’re all competing to be the chilliest drumline ever. And they’re winning.
In love with their tenor line, so crisp
One of the hypest lots I've ever been to. The crowd was huge.
The snare’s technique is my favorites part. Very stationary forearms. All wrist power. Reminds me of early 00 cavies.
Cavaliers are getting back to that too. Hopefully we keep getting that Kuhn magic.
Colin has taught that way since 01 gmen. Demands crazy sound quality which leads to playing through the drum with increased wrist usage.
Also minimal body movement. Watching lines like this one and SCV are like watching lines from the pre-Lucas Oil era rehearse.
that one tenor player looks like hes on the verge of tears
These kids are amazing….thank you! Best of luck!
