Steve is such an incredible storyteller, there aren’t too many episodes of meat eater that don’t make me tear up at least a little bit. I haven’t hunted in years, but every episode makes me think of the last time I watched a good friend of mine put down a big ol’ fat doe whitetail. She was butchered and cooking with it a few hours and that’s a memory I’ll never forget.
Been locked in with Rinella since middle school. My bedtime was 9pm, but once a week i got a pass to stay up just to watch The Wild Within. Only OG Rinella fans remember that show.
Yea coochie bros I remember this too I was 43 when it first came out now im 69. Good times watching rinella me and him used to hunt along the Appalachian mountains. Had a couple moonshine spots too we would brew up deep in them woods
I just watched the part 1 and when i opened your channel, looking for the 2nd part, i see that it's been uploaded just 8 minutes ago. I'm a lucky man today!
My absolute favourite show in the world… What an absolute shot the Caribou was. I’m glad these guy’s get to experience these types of hunts. “I think the wolverine ran off with my spoon”😂
I am truly thankful to MeatEater for these videos, I never had a present father, and I wish I could go hunting with Janis dad & both of y’all, that would be priceless. As a disabled vet I no longer have the joy of outdoors as much as I would love to, so keep making these great videos for us, thanks y’all 🙏🏽🤟🏽❤️🤍
You could never turn on a light to see what something was. 😂 wild thought. Then think of the ice age predators. And the folks gettn by back then. What a world.. Great episode
When it comes to hunting stories, no one can hold a candle to you. The way you come across with new stories and creative writing incredible. I watch every episode over and over and never get tired of your great show. I'm an avid hunter and strive to be a great hunter. I have a few trophy whitetails one non typical 182" Double drop tyne 😂
Seen this ep hundreds of times and everytime i see that wolverine and hear janis' fact after it feels like it was such a spiritual thing that happened. His fathers kill visited by a wolverine.

I could watch this show forever. This is my dream life. I hope to retire to Alaska and chase aninals and live with the earth as we're supposed too and when i get to old to carry on just let the earth have me back
Wilderness is on another level over there guys. Enjoying every bit of this hunt. I hope Janis takes you hunting here in Latvia as well, we have a lot to learn from you guys. The place where he hunted last year is not far from our hunting ground.
lowkey joe doesnt like it, hes a bow hunter, which requires damn near silence, camera crews are quite noisy, would be cool if they did a gopro style hunt though!
I don't think Steve has ever said he didn't like something he cooked in the forest lol. Food just tastes better outside. Maybe javalina he cooked and didn't like if I remember correctly
Never leave your pack. You never know how far you might have to go to get on an animal in a landscape that big. Plus it can be hard to find and could be a matter of survival.
It's nice these guys aren't doing the long range hunting....though 400 yards is pretty far. I've become somewhat disabled with MS and I built a rifle (blueprinted an action, threaded a barrel, bedded the action, etc myself) that shoots well out to about 1000 yards. I still don't think even with my disability it's appropriate to take an animal that far out. So I don't always get to harvest and have been presented with easy shots in the 600 yard range. Soon I won't be able to hike very far, maybe a couple miles, so my hunting days may be over. I might have to be the old guy in camp that cooks instead of hunts. It's disappointing, but I'll at least still go on the trip with my friends, they will help my son when I can't I think. If I knew life would end up like this I'd have done more in my 20's, less work and more time in the mountains.
Steve points out that the early ones, " . . Did it without flashlights." They also did it without warm moisture-wicking high-tech clothing, down sleeping bags, and the waterproof boots we all take for granted. And, antibiotics! You could stub your toe and die of tetanus.
I can watch these Alaska episodes all day and never get tired of them
Come up and see us.
Most definitely
Me too, I sometimes replay the episodes
Same.

Wow yani. Crazy good shot. The look on Steve’s face was priceless when yani casually says, i see a caribou..

I was 14 when that show came out. Thought I was gonna be the next Steve and hunt for a living. Still mad it didn’t get more seasons
@@marcmartinez7731 Oh yeah bro. I can’t remember my exact age but I’m 26 now and still obsessed with the outdoors thanks to that show

My absolute favourite show in the world…

A 400+ yard shot after running for a long time with just a few seconds to calm down and shoot. Wow!
I shake enough at a white tail at 150 yards. Jani is a different breed of hunter
I could listen to Steve talk all day
Three cheers for Steve. found him on an episode called Musky Wars. it’s been a fantastic ride ever since. :-)
That marrow looked amazing. Definitely going to give it a shot on my next harvest.
You should try human. The big leg bone marrow in humans is delicious. Get you a couple human legs and you will see what I mean
@@Smfe614 You truly are sick, go somewhere else.

Wow to take that shot after hauling arse and having such an elevated heart rate is such skill. Bravo sir
I taught Steve to shoot as a young boy and im so proud of him. Im a retired navy seal sniper. And his family were my neighbors when he was growing up
You could never turn on a light to see what something was. 😂 wild thought.

Wild chase in the open for that bou. Excellent shot, and great finale to pop's moose.
Seen this ep hundreds of times and everytime i see that wolverine and hear janis' fact after it feels like it was such a spiritual thing that happened. His fathers kill visited by a wolverine.
The best. Love Meateater. Always wanted to hunt, watching this channel makes me really want to.

Love the camp moments and the cooking as much as the hunting
I’m not there, but man the production sure makes me feel as though I am. I could taste the meal and smell the fresh air!
That’s impossible how can you smell it if your not there

Who else wants Steve and Joe Rogan Deer hunt part 2?
lowkey joe doesnt like it, hes a bow hunter, which requires damn near silence, camera crews are quite noisy, would be cool if they did a gopro style hunt though!
There’s 3-4 episodes with Rogan
@@kristopherswaffer4001 yea in 9 years of them knowing each other, and how often joe hunts, whats your point?
You couldn't pay me enough to watch that idiot Joe Rogan
Lol... Joe had enough rain and cold with Steve... 😂
Lost him in the scope? Do wha? I’ve never had an animal in my scope, that I could not see. Do wha? 🤣
Hey Steve, can't help noticing the boots you all wearing. Where can I buy a pair of those?
this is life
VERY GOOD
I don't think Steve has ever said he didn't like something he cooked in the forest lol. Food just tastes better outside. Maybe javalina he cooked and didn't like if I remember correctly
Hello guys, is there going to be a review of Cold Steel 5 max?
So what happens to the meat the got on the first day.
There a way to make sure it keeps during the next week before they leave ?
Always wanted to know what caliber and brand rifles they use
The world's most vitamin-rich and aminozuren meat is bear and crocodile meat
Waw mantap 💕👍👍👍👍👍
I want to go.
When chasing the caribou why not drop the packs to travel more quickly?
Never leave your pack. You never know how far you might have to go to get on an animal in a landscape that big. Plus it can be hard to find and could be a matter of survival.
Hey Steve is there any meat you don't like to eat?
As much as i like to hate rinella, he makes good content !
Beautiful
