There is a good side to having poorer communities mixed with the affluent- in America most affluent people move to areas where the entire neighborhood is gated including their schools and make themselves inaccessible to others of different economic levels. I like the idea that those who were able to get some prosperity come back to their communities. I am sure that these homes are inspirational to those who are looking to a future and not as disparaging as having all professionals leave the communities altogether and never look back.I attended Howard University in Washington DC and in 1968 the school made the decision to keep the main gate open so that the surrounding community did not feel that we were an untouchable elitist community separate from theirs. It may be symbolic but these symbols have long ranging impacts that we do not see yet.
I'm glad that you were able to show a little variety compared to what I normally see regarding Rwanda. My question to you is, What have you done as an individual to change the disparity? My thoughts upon seeing how thing are, was what can I do, in areas like that? I plan to move to Africa and I feel that your video just opened up my eyes to other opportunities to help develop areas like that. I guess I'm saying, "If you see me naked, don't just look at me and talk about me, give me some skills that will allow me to cloth myself".
Thanks for your reply and your question. Reality check: One does not change the disparity of an entire village or even one family in one visit to Africa. Also, the skills required to help someone "clothe" themself does not happen in one visit. One does not even "develop" an area like this unless you have damn near-unlimited resources and even then you can't help everyone. You have to pick where you're going to serve. Being here on the ground I see the enormous needs whereas you watching this video are getting a snapshot, just a couple pictures in a frame. It's much bigger than you think. When and if you move to Africa the picture may come into focus for you. That being said and to answer your question. I have adopted a couple of charities that I work directly with helping them get funding through GoFundMe campaigns where I have given directly out of my pocket. I have paid bills for families, I have paid school fees for children, I have CLOTHED children, I have fed people on the street. According to some I have inspired and given hope.
You seem a bit salty, I don't need a reality check. As an adult you should realize all comments aren’t given to do harm. Well, I glad that you are trying to help them, I hope that when I move there, I am able to make positive changes to the community also. So, just to be clear, I appreciated your post, and thank you.
Its good to see wealth and simplicity living hand in hand and not what exists with gated communities closed off to them selves. Thanks for showing life in the realest sense . I Thinks there is true value in this type of community structure

You are exactly right. As revealing as the video is it just the beginning of the story. And, the large grandiose homes you see are a fraction of the American cost. $2000 per month retirement income here and you're well beyond the middle class.
Those houses is not for rent or for government is personal person homes is family have big lands before your parents died they will give you your share to build houses for yourself is not matter you are boy or girl you will get your share you can do it whatever you want

Thanks! Very familiar. Thanks especially for going off the beaten paths that we see so frequently on other channels on TH-cam. Bravo! In much of Africa, many 'villages' near fast-growing cities soon become transitional and then fully 'certified' suburbs and/or 'hot' neighborhoods. Even if they have title to the such village lands that they occupy, most owners succumb to the legal pressures and/or the moneys offered and move out in favor of the 'visions' of planners, individual buyers, and/or developers. Even some upper-end residential areas (e.g., in Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam, Accra, etc.), soon become unapologetically commercial, hosting big corporations and other enterprises. This 'village' area is likely to become quite different in a relatively 'short' period, if I understand correctly that it is relatively close to, or in, Kigali city and Province (yes, there is a province called Kigali within which is the city by the same name, last time I checked). Thanks again.
Love this village. Serene, clean environment with a good mix of modest and rich homes and lots of trees and plants. Funny enough, I don't mind the dirt roads either ... I like the blend of nature and modernity. Love the hills, etc. Beautiful village. I'd take this any day over city life. Nice
Wow...that was fascinating to see. I so enjoy folks who take the time to walk the streets of different towns and villages in foreign countries so that we can see what life is like. I did find much value. Some beautiful and impressive gate and wall work on those nices houses. Question: Do they have inspections for builds like we have here in the United States? For instance is the framing inspected and the electric etc.? Also are houses there were you live on city sewer or are they septic/well. I'm in Georgia in the US and we are still on septic/well so no judgement here just curious.
Just to ask, what’s the proximity of this village to the nearest Rwandan’s next city or the capital city, Kigali? And if the village is far from the nation’s capital city, what’s the name of the city nearest to it? I am from BIAFRA, Africa’s emerging new nation.
Kigali is the captital city. You have to unbderstand that Rwanda is a small country and all the cities are small as well. A village could be 20 minutes from the center of town. What you are seeing here is not a village in the truest sense of the term, but, when you venture off this main road SOME of the living is the same.
Thanks for sharing the other side of Rwanda, and yes that's Africa for you, the have and the have not live together and love each other, and that you will see all over the continent !
if we western try to carry that much on our heads our necks will crack for sure lol, but it's amazing watching Africans do it, It all about balance, and in the balance department I suck, I can barely stay stable on my bike lol, Rwanda like every other African country the houses the atmosphere give me Caribbean vibe, these images your showing are the same you would encounter on Caribbean islands, I love Rwanda's determination to keep their country clean, even the villages are clean and that is a rare sight in Africa,I think that other African countries should start copying Rwanda in the keeping the country clean department, nice video.
Am South African, agent Mia from the Canadian E-Immigration helped me get my Canadian visa in less than 2weeks for just 1000CAD. She can help you too. You can contact her via her email
Wow beautiful indeed. Villagers build beautiful and beautiful homes too. They have plenty land to be creative and it's cheaper to live in the village. Just like in my country. But it's exceptionally clean.
Hi Afrikan I came across your page because I have seen so much of the beautiful city of Rwanda and how clean it is.I wanted to see if the village was as clean as the city and so very happy with what you are show casing my goodness I love how this place is the have and the have not living in the same village The main thing to me is that it’s clean and I love that. One question dose Rwanda have and slum like I see in Nigeria and Ghana they all have dirt road but if you keep a dirt road clean it’s not bad am from the Caribbean islands I now live in NY but as I said if the dirt road is keep clean it’s ok.
Thank you,Love from Rwanda. We have slums in Rwanda but they are clean and they are not dangerous place you can visit them when ever you come to Rwanda
Yes indeed such disparity even on the same street! Hopefully such evident disparities will not translate into something ugly. Rwanda must never return to the strife that it went through in her dark history after so much of success and peace she enjoys now. We here in South East Asia still cringe at what took place in Rwanda in her darkest hour. May God bless Rwanda.
I can't say I've seen a lot of videos about Rwanda, only about Kigali and gorilla wildlife. This gave me a different perspective, a village in Rwanda. The usual African poverty with a mix of wealth. The apartments behind where you were staying going for $1500 per month? That's BWP16 000 (Botswana). They need to pave the roads for that kind rentals.
I feel what you're saying. As an American where I'm used to ALL road being paved I was surprised but then i came to understand the economy. Many of the roads are paved for these types of rentals and many are not. When a country has limited resources they must prioritize those funds. There are more important needs than paved roads.

You are 100%correct in your assessment. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Love this village. Serene, clean environment with a good mix of modest and rich homes and lots of trees and plants. Funny enough, I don't mind the dirt roads either ... I like the blend of nature and modernity. Love the hills, etc. Beautiful village. I'd take this any day over city life. Nice
I feel ya 100%...Thanks for stopping by and commenting...
Great video, I hope to be there someday soon! Yes, lol, our little American minds really want that W to be in there.
Just set your intention and start planning. I t will happen before you know it...
No country is without poverty.. Rwanda has came a long way since the genocide. The village is very beautiful. England is drowning with poverty
I mentioned that in the video.
From a village perspective Rwanda is organized 👍
Wow...that was fascinating to see. I so enjoy folks who take the time to walk the streets of different towns and villages in foreign countries so that we can see what life is like. I did find much value. Some beautiful and impressive gate and wall work on those nices houses. Question: Do they have inspections for builds like we have here in the United States? For instance is the framing inspected and the electric etc.? Also are houses there were you live on city sewer or are they septic/well. I'm in Georgia in the US and we are still on septic/well so no judgement here just curious.
Thanks for your comment. Of course there are inspections and codes to abide by. I think its sewer system.
I’m in Oregon. All rural areas are septic and wells.
Beautiful homes
Indeed...
Thanks Joanne..
Cleanliness is godliness.
I am going to be there my brother , iam from south africa 🇿🇦 iam about to emigrate to Rwanda.
Fantastic...You will enjoy it...
if we western try to carry that much on our heads our necks will crack for sure lol, but it's amazing watching Africans do it, It all about balance, and in the balance department I suck, I can barely stay stable on my bike lol, Rwanda like every other African country the houses the atmosphere give me Caribbean vibe, these images your showing are the same you would encounter on Caribbean islands, I love Rwanda's determination to keep their country clean, even the villages are clean and that is a rare sight in Africa,I think that other African countries should start copying Rwanda in the keeping the country clean department, nice video.
Exactly...
New subscriber. I'm coming to Rwanda very soon
What's the name of the village? And how far away is it from Kigali?
Hi Afrikan I came across your page because I have seen so much of the beautiful city of Rwanda and how clean it is.I wanted to see if the village was as clean as the city and so very happy with what you are show casing my goodness I love how this place is the have and the have not living in the same village
The main thing to me is that it’s clean and I love that.
Wawo that’s cool life in village
I wish to take a tour there...🥰
We're waiting on you...
Where is this village ? What is the name?
In Kagugu, not sure of the name..
Beautiful!
I see the small vegetable gardens.
What occupations do people who rent those apartments have, and how far to travel to do them?
Yes indeed such disparity even on the same street! Hopefully such evident disparities will not translate into something ugly. Rwanda must never return to the strife that it went through in her dark history after so much of success and peace she enjoys now. We here in South East Asia still cringe at what took place in Rwanda in her darkest hour. May God bless Rwanda.
Afrikan lifestyle, hi there, what kind of camera are you using?
I'm using my phone a Samsung S10...
@@AfrikanLifestyle ok ty, I'm thinking about visiting Rwanda one day , please continue to educate us Africa,
@@actionjackson5759 Thanks, will do...
What is the name of the village
Not sure but it's in Kagugu...
I heard some speaking kinyarwanda , What area was this in Rwanda ?
They speak Kinyarwanda alll over Rwanda, my friend. This areais Kagugu..
Shout out to my village people. Hang on, we're coming for ya'll. Keep working hard, it will get better. The future is bright.
C'mon lets go, quit waiting around...
I got you bro. I wasn't quarrelling with what you said. The "balance" was key. I actually enjoyed watching.
@@loyisovanqa1563 No no no, I didn't take it as quarrelling and I hope my response didn't indicate that. It was an awakening for me to come to understand this reality. It's all good.
Very nice and cleaner than Monrovia Liberia
