  • Here with another shorter video, this time showing catches of the CSX Office Car Special (OCS), also known by CSX as P001. This train consists of three ex-Amtrak EMD F40PH locomotives and a fleet of vintage passenger cars painted in a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad-inspired paint scheme (B&O being one of CSX's predecessors). Most larger railroads and a few smaller operations in the United States have office car trains, usually used to transport railroad executives and potential freight customers around the network. The trip documented shows a small leg of the train's multi-day journey from Jacksonville, FL to Grand Rapids, MI (with a subsequent move to Chicago, IL), with shots featured in Elizabeth, Pittsburgh, Wampum, and New Castle, PA, as well as a shot in Kent, OH. I had planned to also catch the train in Lowellville, OH, but a sooner-than-expected departure from the New Castle Yard combined with a slow driver on US Route 224 led to me just barely missing the train there. Oh well, I am still happy with the shots I got and enjoyed seeing this unique passenger train running on rails that normally never see anything aside from freight traffic. Enjoy the video and thanks for watching!

Excellent video and cool locations! I saw this on my way to work in Pittsburgh and knew it wasn't just any old train passing by. Glad to see someone was out filming!

Very glad you had a successful chase. Wish I could've joined but as you know, I was busy. That Kent spot was especially cool, and I really enjoyed the streetrunning part in the beginning

Didn’t know they had a new paint scheme. Caught it in Potsdam NY probably 15 years ago with 2 engines.

That dog was taking some chances early in the video. Does anyone know what they use those cars for? Customer or corporate junkets?

Yeah, I didn't even see the dog when I was filming (I had my camcorder zoomed in as far as it could go) and am glad that he was okay. If you're talking about the passenger cars on the OCS, they are typically used to transport railroad executives around the system on occasional excursion trains such as this one.
