Mac Lethal was an actual back and forth diss but this song is a response to Upchurch and anyone else hating on him without giving them any clout.
When the first Brave album with Adam Calhoun came out, billboard wouldn’t count physical copies because they knew by the pre-orders they would out chart mainstream. He done a video about the music industry and how they’re screwing him.
His sister was the news anchor in his music video of People so Stupid, you might not remember her because it was a couple years ago. This song was a big flex and a big F U to all his haters. Loved it

Better late than never! Thanks for the #HOGFAM love and the great reaction. My first time watching this had me floored there was so much to unpack. Tom & Nova are a true American Dream… you work hard and you can achieve it.
Because you asked: Just as Tom dropped his song Facts feat. Ben Shapiro and it was getting a ton of recognition, climbing the Billboard charts (#16 on the Hot 100, #1 in both Rap and Hip Hop), and Tom was in the midst of his marketing campaign for it with loads of interviews, etc., Upchurch dropped a diss track in the middle of all that Tom had going on. A week or so later Ryan dropped an album. Suspicious timing, seems to me. Personally, I think Ryan is jealous that Tom got a feature from John Rich which went to #1 and he has been stewing for a year over it. Tom and Adam invited Ryan to be on their Brave 2 album, so the negativity isn't on their side. Tom has stated for years he will not do personal disses. Facts also increased Tom's fan base which drew in a new level of haters.
This song is Tom's answer to all the negativity he has been receiving lately without naming names. He's also giving inspiration to those who need it and introducing his new fans to his life's story. Tom got a lot off his chest with this one. The production is impressive, the bars are outstanding, the flow switches are amazing, the song is inspiring and the video is out of this world. 😁😇 #HangOverGang #NovaRockafeller

You may not recognize Tom's sister Jenna but she was the news anchor in Tom's video for People So Stupid. So you have seen her before if you saw that video.
As others mentioned, the battle was with Mac Lethal back in 2019, but this year it seems like Ryan Upchurch has been his main instigator, being all butthurt, guessing something to do with Adam Calhoun doing another album with Tom rather than doing one with him. Hearing a lot of stuff about it, but I'm not clicking anything from Upchurch. I watched a couple of his posts trying to get something started, and I couldn't get behind him on anything, he just sounded stupid dropping the N every other word. I think he sees Tom topping charts and wants to do some clout chasing. Other artists taking jabs also, but Ryan seems the loudest.
Edit: while proving what he said about the charts can be hard to prove, it does correspond with the timing as he was pushing Facts with Ben Shapiro which was an intentional troll on the industry, and he even said as much. They didn't actually cancel the charts though so much as hide them behind a paywall where you had to get a premium membership to see the numbers.

This song is a collective response to a culmination of crap over the years: typical haters, fans who say they don't like him growing and evolving, people saying his parents are rich and that's why he is where he is, Church and his childish b.s., people who say he's a hypocrite because he's Canadian, and people who say he's afraid to diss people. Among other things. It's all the negativity in his day-to-day life that he turned into fuel to make a masterpiece. That's my take, anyway. And by God Mode vs beast mode, I believe he means this: they're all in beast mode because they're attacking each other for clout. He's in God Mode because he's rising above it. The pieces of this song can be interpretted in so many ways. I love how he invokes so many emotions in his work. Also, everything he said about the record labels is spot on. He is passing up label artists all the time, and it's not going over well with the CEOs lol. He's showing label artists that they can do it all on their own and make 100% of the profits instead of 20%. Gotta love Tom ❤
