Not sure how you'd define a boomer DAW... but it's Pro Tools. A lot of the people using it haven't updated the way they work since they graduated from some sort of music academy or college program. Just like Waves, it's considered the industry standard because it's been grandfathered in - back in the day it was sold specifically to professional studios, so now it's what the people coming from that background consider professional, no matter how tedious and clunky it is. I'd bet money the vast majority of ProTools users either graduated from a program that made them use it, or work with professional studios that require it (or for clients that are used to that ecosystem). That's why it's the "industry standard".
no shit sherlock, thats how anything becomes industry standard. It was there first during a time where there wasn't any good competition. Nobody calls it industry standard anymore though.
Actually, neither! I work with mostly live instruments/recorded audio, and the editing and comping is by far the best in PT. I have tried all of them and I’m by far the fastest in PT. If any other DAW had the same play listing and overall audio handling, I’d maybe consider switching.
Well this was a surprise to see in my feed lol! To address a couple things: The shirt is ironic, but also Dueling Dragons was my favorite roller coaster so that’s why I picked it My presentation could use work, I do use a teleprompter but the software that it uses is really slow, so sometimes it gets behind my speech. Trying to find a better one that will auto-scroll properly. But it does save so much time editing. The guitar recordings were right next to each other on the same amp/performance. It’s a ribbon/57 combo. And the 57 is the one that’s very peak-y. I don’t mix in this room, just film. So the room is dead for that reason. My studio has actual acoustic treatment! I clicked being nervous that you’d cook my opinions so I’ll accept cooking my personality instead 😅
The mic and raw recording is the MOST important part of every mix. If the quality of recording is bad, there is nothing you can do to compete with an amazing recorded project.
Stereo was invented back in 1930 so it's relatively kinda new, some people need time to modern up their gear, but hey that older stuff still made some great sound in it's own unique way, right🤓?
i'll use ssl bus comp very slightly and L2 on my master while mixing that's it.. L2 only set at -0.1 just to prevent clipping, no boosting unless i need it at the end of mixing.
Tweeters on the inside makes sense if you have a small setup and the speakers are close to you. The mids and highs are directional and if the tweeters are on the outside, you won't be sitting in the apex of the triangle between your head and the speakers.
The statement about mono being better than stereo leaves out some context. I'm assuming that person is talking about stems or wav files being better on mono. I don't remember the reasoning behind this, but I have heard someone on a professional level state this in one of his videos.
Dude that's so weird I was just thinking about Nick Swardson when you said that this dude reminds you of something but you just can't put your finger on it. From Haunted House I thought about the part when Nick said, I can't quite put my finger in you, on you, I can't quite put my finger on it. And then you brought Nick up. LMFAO
protools is boomersoftware by boomers for boomers. its an ancient relic thats only an industry standard because of the people that run the industry being old sharts, who happened to join the insustry professionally, when it was highly profitable and the only professional software available was either pro tools or logic pro. protools has 0 innovation and to do what todays software does, you would need tripple the effort in it. And it also looks the part. Looks like a shart.
The unfortunate thing about pro tools it is the industry standard for Film and video mixing. Pro tools video frame rate and timecode handling, no other DAW comes close, there are alternatives but they are rarely used by the industry and in that world, when dialogue, foley, sound fx, score, dubbing, mix are all handled by different people in different studios all over the world, compatibility matters. Don't get me wrong it is terrible for making music as a single produce, terrible.
The main thing that ProTools is really good at - comping and multitrack comping - is less important than it used to be. But if I ever have to multitrack comp I’m using protools… Everything stays in phase with no hassle.
Watching you slowly become more self aware as his video went on was entertaining. "Who wears that kind of shirt. I mean, I would ironically. And this kind of video isn't a bad idea... I was making these videos years ago... oh no..."
You get it wrong pro tools is an industry standard in studio settings. This is why it is not as popular as other daws that have more utility in a bedroom producer setup. Also, bedroom producers use vst and samples for the most part and dont record real instruments this is why they dont work with so many tracks......... people's takes are stupid and ridiculous because most producers are not grammy producers........they are people who are targeted by the music companies and are easily manipulated into buying garbage midi gear and vsts.
They don't typically. 9 times out of 10 from what I've seen across youtube, they put the stems in the session and might record vocals or live instruments. You don't see people use it for "producing/beat making" per say.
Pro Tools is typically used for tracking and mixing. This is where it excels. If you want a DAW with good mixing capabilities and midi production capabilities, then Cubase is a better fit. Alternatively, you could produce in one DAW and render out the audio to mix in Pro Tools
Ngl based on the title i do all my songs in mono and at the end when i need to work on the panoramic sort of i put the mix in stereo because most of the people listen on mono devices and if you have a good balance mono only you almost 90% of the time good when you put it back in stereo sometime i even tricked myself like " bruh i was on mono all the way " wondering why my pingpong delay doesn't work lmao
I wouldnt say most people listen on mono devices… and i would honestly say if you mix only mono and switch to stereo you can get some pretty rough results especially if you compare on a stereo device to another track mixed for stereo. I tend to work the other way. Everything in stereo and when I ref on a mono speaker and it sounds bad there ill make some adjustments
Except the people listening mono are not gonna be the ones who care about mix quality the most, and quite some of them will make your mix sound kinda crappy no matter what. Stereo is what allows for the most detail and clarity, and the people who do listen that way will notice the difference between a meh and great stereo mix.

? Pardon my further confusion from your response… Digital Performer is a seperate DAW from Cubase, so your statement doesn’t make sense to me. They can’t be lupmed together as if they’re one in the same.
