Awesome review!!! I had 2 of the small ones that you like the least. They are 20+ years old and served me well until they both broke. This is very helpful in buying better ones. Thank you!!
Loved the Szilagyi Chancellor......I have the snoopy dog harp and the red one you talk about and they are both terrible....so I had given up...but would love to revisit this again.
@@bebbcorpharpery7331 I was apparently right. It is easy at least for me. I have a crooked tooth and the harp keeps hitting it, but i am adapting to that.
Thank you for this video!! I first saw and heard someone play the Jaw Harp (or mouth harp) eons ago ... about 40+ years ago. That person was Buffy Sainte Marie and have wanted to learn to play since, but couldn't find one, so I gave up. I like the tone of the one you played at the beginning of this video, better than the others. Again ... thank you! Subscribed.
Amazing music 🎶 lesson thank you!! Do you know if there are any harps or instruments made out of silver gold precious metals? This video really was awesome 👏🏻 you have a wonderful display of harps and good production! I love the different sounds of each harp, my only experience was from my Snoopy mouth harp.
I do believe that Mohan makes a morchang out of silver. Also I think that there are a few bejeweled harps made for royalty. Here is Aron Szilagyi playing a gold one. th-cam.com/video/gTG-0sVV0mo/w-d-xo.html
Now see the one at around 4:05 looks a lot like the one I got at my music store, originally around 67 Swedish kronor but I got it on sale for 29 cause the store is closing down. It is made of steel, same shape and stuff but it reacts to my breath. It's in G# i think and you can hear the little *ding* whenever you play but I think it's okay... what is your opinion?
Sadly most people try and hear bad jaw harp's, what drowning jaw harp's reputation down. Most stores don't sell proper jaw harp's. Not seen many proper jaw harp's to buy in Estonia. Gladly I got Nepal's brass jew harp at 11€ price from Estonian store "Universal universum" .
Hey which harp to you recommend for high speed playing style. I use to hit the reed with fast back and forth strokes by moving the whole hand back an forth. Already broke some reeds and lots of jew harps are kind of not stabel enough to hold on with the speed and strength of strokes.
+CynicalWhiskey I for now am looking at getting a shlutter somewhere in the mid range. I will have to figure out a tuning that will go well with the current collection.
@@bebbcorpharpery7331 Oh, thanks for the reminder. I had completely forgotten about it. It's frigging hilarious. Obviously you have a keen sense of humour if you can appreciate the drollest of NZ comedy. Good stuff.
I could sure try. 1. Marching from India. 2. Szilagyi Chancellor. 3. Mouth Harp from Hobby Lobby. 4. Murchunga from Nepal. 5. Szilagyi Black Fire in high A. 6. Altai Khomus by Paval Potkin. 7. Szilagyi Black fire in low E. 8. Generic harp from the music store. 9. Hoen Toong. 10. Karending. 11. Mouthbow by Wayland Harmon. Thanks for the compliment.
The way I clean them is to wipe them off well with a cloth at the end of playing. Then before bedtime I oil them with coconut oil. Mark from mouth music recommends taking a burnishing device on like the little felt one on a dremel to them every once in a while if buildup occurs. I have not had to do this to my harps as I have not seen any buildup. I have not ever had to replace a reed on my harps. In the paperwork that comes with Szilagyi harps it states that under normal the lifetime of the reed is around 31 million plucks. Other brands are probably somewhere near that as well. I am sure it is possible to replace reeds on some types if it were screwed, but on all the harps I currently own they are crimped and I don't know if I could replace. If I ever try my hand at replacing one I will be sure to make a video of it. I will try to get a video on harp cleaning and care made in the upcoming couple of weeks.
I don't play the jaw harp, I don't own one, but I love the sound, still, the fact that this has any dislikes makes me mad and I haven't even watched the video yet
Can you tell me if the jaw harp I have is good for beginners? I bought a jaw harp a few years and it was only played seldom. Now, I want to get good with the jaw harp. The jaw harp I have is the one from Nepal.
They are all different styles from different regions with different characteristics. Morchang from Rajasthan, India, Vargan of Russia, and Khomus particular to Yakutia, the northernmost tip of Russia right across from Alaska.
my childwood age I heard sound effects from rubber band, Ya keep rubber band in mouth bite 😁well one side and rubber band other side hang your one index finger👍 finger ,then shaking this video finger movement we can hear this similar sound😂😂😂

I don’t know what I was expecting with this video, but I’m glad I stayed lmaooo
It's great to see how much your wall collection has grown, and your company too.
I've always wondered what instrument makes that sound...
Such curious little things..
Yes us little humans are quite curious..

I wish you put links for where to find these particular ones!
7:53 he’s a natural! 😂
Very cool, I'd like to have a hand at trying to make one or two of those wooden instruments.
I looked up "instrument that goes boing" and found a whole community of people who play these.
Welcome, welcome my friend.
Bebbcorp Harpery I bought one yesterday and am getting it today. Looks easy but I am probably wrong.
You got this. If you have any problems leave me a comment

2:05 the first jaw harp i have ever played. it was good for a bit but lost its tune and pretty much bent and started sounding terrible lol

My Snoopy Jews harp is the same as the one from Hobby Lobby. Your review is spot on.

Sweet man! I just bought my first one. Its hard to get the right angle. Keeps hitting my teeth. Your collection is awesome.
I AM BLOWN AWAY! Thank you for the insight and information! Deeply appreciated! Now I want several of these instruments.

Glazyrin alpha or any of the smaller ones are good for beating on.
Thanks
Are there any particular harps you're considering next?

Last episode I watched was a mastodon shirt and now FOTC? good taste man!
Thanks. I like music that sounds good to me.
Flight of the Conchords. New Zealand humour at its most droll. Love it.
I also love what we do in the shadows.

If the two pieces you put your mouth on that's around the reed are too far apart can it still work? because I'm not having any luck

I have one of the jaw harps in this video. It is the one played from 2:00-2:26.
Yes they are decent for beginners provided that they are not bent or defective.
