Definite “gamesmanship”. Naazim Richardson did it to Trinidad during his Hopkins fight. Except that Hopkins was the naturally bigger guy, and the fight was delayed because of 9/11. Therefore, Trinidad couldn’t fly back to PR and Hopkins left to Philadelphia. Considering all of that, Hopkins had the psychological edge…

Liam Smith will be a very good trainer one day. He's exactly the type of bloke you want in your corner for situations like this. Knows all the tricks in the book, you won't get seen off with this type of experience in your corner.

@P N he technically is the rep in that hea representing the opposing side. What you're confused with or perhaps the original commentor is confused about is not having an "official" inspecting the wrapping of hands which is not entirely necessary if you have your opponents coach watching you wrap your hands. Since officials can be corrupt they may let things slide whereas its highly unlikely your opponents coach is corrupt.

These casuals who have never been to a real event (or worked in the industry) are clueless. There are typically 1 or 2 inspectors "in the back" during an event and an entire card worth of fighters getting wrapped at the exact same time. Please explain how 1-2 people are supposed to watch upwards of a dozen fighters getting their hands wrapped. They can't. The inspectors here did exactly the right thing. The camp complained, they responded, addressed the issue and moved on. He was exactly correct to call this out. Stacking has been illegal as long as I can remember. Some commissions in the USA actually permit "stacking" though not many. It is actually very common in training wraps as well though most boxers wear bigger gloves when they spar compared to a bout. Tons of trainers put pre-wrap on and then put tape on the pre wrap THEN start the main wrap of gauze and then tape to cast it. Some commissions have crazy rules about wrapping hands but from wrapping hands myself, I think the standard gauze tape done works for everyone. It wouldn't shock me if in Spain that this is legal but I don't know. I have seen tons of kickboxers from Holland use this method too.
