  • In this video tutorial I show you how to make (and export) a rotoscope animation in Blender 4.0. This tutorial is a great way to get familiar with rotoscoping and is made in such a way that those with no experience in Blender can follow along. Beginners and experienced animators are invited to try rotoscoping. Comment below if you have any questions. I hope this video helps and inspires you to make a rotoscope animation!
    Enjoy!

Great video. Isn't it possible to export it as an MP4 file instead?

Hi, thanks. Yes, you can directly export the project as an mp4 but the method I show in the tutorial is great in case Blender crashes halfway through the rendering process. Exporting as separate png files adds an extra step but you can start a crashed export from the last exported frame instead of rendering out the whole project again. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.

Do you really have to insert keyframes in all channels every frame? It makes it so much more tedious

@@dy939 You can set it to "automatic keyframes" but I recommend beginners just insert keyframes manually every time to prevent unwanted keyframes from occurring.

Did you draw the skater over again in every frame? Every frame manual without using the interpolation tool?

Hi, yes. I was going for a hand drawn approach so I drew every frame. The interpolation tool is great but the results will look different than if just drawn by hand; especially in a drawing that has so many lines. Try it out and good luck!

    Massively complicated for a beginner.

The process can be quite complex but stick with it and you'll figure it out. Good luck!
