My absolute favorite Soviet unit is the 107mm M1910/30. Very long range; fairly accurate for an artillery gun; turns infantry into red mist; can be used for AT in a pinch. It makes dealing with enemy AT and artillery guns very easy and, unlike bombers, it cannot be shot down by AA.
1. T-60. Yeap, it is really good infantry killer, but its real power hiding in his ability to drag light and medium AT guns. You can just attach Zis-2 or Zis-3 to the T-60, also take 2 scouts or engineers with mines, and you can not only move this gun to position, but also cover it from enemy infantry. Later hide those scouts in the bushes for detecting enemy troops, and you has excellent defence position. Also T-60 can take ammo vagons, and support heavy tanks like IS-2. Again, T-60 can easily can cover big brothers from infantry, and when IS-2 spent too many its 122mm shells, T-60 can realtively safe come close and "feed" them with ammo. In short, good light tank and excellent support unit 2. M1910/30 cannon. Very good range, early research, good accuracy, has middle class of weight and can be carried by T-60. In the late campaign i prefer to make top artillery barrage with 3 ML-20 or 4 A-19, but this cannon not only appearing very early in the game, but has almost same effectiveness in counter-artillery fire. The only disadvantage is low horizontal speed. 3. Zis-3. Yeap, I know, that Zis-2 has much better penetration, but ZiS-3 has much better HE rounds for obliterating enemy infantry squads. Also, Zis-3 has option of non-direct ballistic fire for its HEAT round. It is kinda dumb, why ZiS-3 do not have this option for HE rounds, when in real life ZiS-3 constantly was in use like a field gun and also used non-direct fire, but those HEAT rounds very handy. Zis-3 is very good in combination with BS-3. 4. BS-3. Yeah, I know, that SU-100 is better, but BS-3 is much easier to research. Very good combination will be with M3 Scout, which can not only bring BS-3 to position, but also can cover it with 50 cal Browning. I used squads with T-60+Zis-3 and M3 Scout+BS-3 in one of my DC without any medium and heavy tanks. Also, BS-3 has very powerful HE shells, which can kill all crew in Panter, for example. 5. T-35 mod 1938. Unlike 1936 version, this giant can hold light 37mm AT guns and survive a first 4-5 battles in DC. And this grand-grand-granddad of the BAAAAAAAANEBLEADE from Wh40k is just pure fun and enjoy in those first rounds of the DC. In combination with KV-1 those landcruisers can survive a little longer. 6. OT-34-85. Unlike other flamethrower tanks, T-34 did not lose any effectiveness, comparing with the base version, because main gun is the same. IMO, it is the best tool for the fast cleaning enemy capture area, because it is not only fast, but its flamer do not care about enemy HP and killing anyone and anything (including game FPS, lol). Few times I burned down King Tigers. Ya know, sometimes you feeling, that tanks has not MGs, but airsoft guns, when you cant kill some "fat" elite infantry, flamer solves this problem. IMO, it is the best medium tank in the game. Problem hiding in fact, that Germans starting to spam heavy tanks in the late DC, but in combination with SU-100 you can resist those cats. 7. ISU-122. IMO, very underrated SPG. Yes, IS-2 has turret and better frontal ammo, but you need 24 research points to get the top Soviet tank from the IS-1, and it is very painful on hardcore difficulty. ISU-122 costs 15 points, and had almost same effectiveness on the far ranges, because it had same gun. Besides, if i not mistaked, ISU-122 has slightly better reload time, then IS-2. Also, it is real shame, that ISU-122 do not had non-direct fire option, when in real life this vehicle had "Hertz panorama" for such thing. 8. Black Sea Marines. Combat engineers are cool, but they are had mostly close-range weapons like SMG, and very useful in cities and towns, when we had open areas in the game much more often. 9. KV-2 AKA Death fridge itself. It is hard to survive in battle, when Germans starting to spam something with PaK40 or 88mm, but even in the late DC this beast can spam 152mm punches above low hills and other obstacles. 10. Dshk heavy MG in AA variant. It is kinda strange, that Germans has very diverse pool of weapons and vehicles, but do not had proper 50 cal heavy MG. 20 and 37mm AA guns is effective against infantry, but it is much heavier and slower, then DShK, which can be replaced from place to place almost in the same speed as infantry. Soviet Unit roster in this game is very diverse and cover almost all things, which was used by Red Army in WWII, but I do not understand, why they are included kinda niche ampulomet, but did not included very good 152mm M-10 and D-1 howitzers. Besides, Finns captured few M-10, and this unit also is authentic for them too. Also like i mentioned before, many soviet units do not have option for non-direct ballistic fire, when in reality was capable of and widely used in such role. ZiS-3, SU-76, ISU-152/122 and etc.
Wild to not have the t-34-85 in this, it's a medium tank that has armour almost like a kv1, carries a 85mm gun that quite frankly rocks and most of all, it's iconic and you get to use the t-34 while working towards it. ALSO you get the T-28E for 1 research point to use before the t34 which is early to mid game a hilarious tank, it's tanky compared to other tanks in the t28/t35 line... and is basically an anti infantry killzone armoured bunker on tracks. T34-85 also kind of makes the kv1 obsolette if you aren't going to go for IS line.
I mean, obviously, but you didn't answer why you disagree, just: my list, my opinion, lol. But whatever, have a nice day, mate. Hopefully this weather is less grey soon.
Top soviet for me: Ptrs 41 squad (rekt vehicle with it five shots) t34 1941 zis 2 gun (i prefer the 1941 than the 1942 bc of it the head armor is more slope idk lol) t34 1942 paratrooper squad: not that experience but got good weapon and decent amount of grenade (pair great with engineer bc the paratrooper dont have shovel) Su 100: amazing at far range Su 100y(the tank you get at first soviet campaign mission):i think it used to be at the tech tree very early but they remove it out of the tech tree RIP t60 with the 20mm (you can tow the truck supply if you want the fun to be longer or shorter) kv1E: (idk about kv 8 bc it not really that great it always get track) the DisH: amazing anti air early game 85mm anti aircraft: the gun it just impossible to be hit when it tank dug out Andryusha: RUN
I tend to avoid PM-38 and here's why: incendiary shells are not fired automatically, mortar crew just refuses to use them. You have to fire at position and that makes it very inaccurate and borderline useless. I suspect it was done intentionally by the developers and not a random bug they never fixed. With high veterancy AI can really bring the pain using mortars and having highly accurate, long range napalm variant would be insanely OP in multiplayer. HE shells are just ok, not much better than German or Finnish counterparts.
ampulomet is only good on paper. On the field, it never hits the target. Not once. Won't hit the tank, won't hit the infantry, won't hit the guns. 0/10 unit.
I just got the game after being slowly tired of MoWAS2. Its good. I tried the russian conquest campaign and jesus on the third fight the germans already rolled up with Panzer III and Panzerjager. I was lucky I had stolen a light Pak from the previous battle that dealt with them, but man the Russians suck. Only way I can win is if I capture German tanks and arms and bring them over to the next battles. Doesn't help that I get like 3 research points per battle so it takes ages to get anything.

Funny thing about being allowed opinions mate, it means other people are allowed opinions against yours. No need to get defensive about it. Relax 😅

Top soviet for me:
Ptrs 41 squad (rekt vehicle with it five shots)
t34 1941 zis 2 gun (i prefer the 1941 than the 1942 bc of it the head armor is more slope idk lol)
t34 1942
paratrooper squad: not that experience but got good weapon and decent amount of grenade (pair great with engineer bc the paratrooper dont have shovel)
Su 100: amazing at far range
Su 100y(the tank you get at first soviet campaign mission):i think it used to be at the tech tree very early but they remove it out of the tech tree RIP
t60 with the 20mm (you can tow the truck supply if you want the fun to be longer or shorter)
kv1E: (idk about kv 8 bc it not really that great it always get track)
the DisH: amazing anti air early game
85mm anti aircraft: the gun it just impossible to be hit when it tank dug out
Andryusha: RUN
Fantastic list I think now that the Ptrs team should be in my top ten haha

Are you gonna do the same with the american one's?
It would be appreciated
Yes and Finland

Yeah the early gane is tough but you'll get used to it and be a master of war in no time
