That's what gets me about the non-binary/ pronoun thing. None of these people can actually define what ANY of these goofy alternative pronouns mean beyond "it's just anyone that identifies as something/ something-self". And further more, they can't tell you what the prerequisite for adopting these terms is without being vague or referencing gender stereotypes that they claim are "problematic." It's just completely made up overly ambiguous, ideological social trend bullshit that has no sense of reality or self awareness. I have a really hard time being convinced that these people actually believe the things they're saying. I mean there is just NO way this nonsense is taken seriously, especially on an academic level. I have a rule I live by; if you cannot define something, then you cannot defend it.

I remember as a teenager writing emails to everyone in my country's government to please vote yes for legalizing gay marriage so I could have the same legal rights with my future wife as everyone else. Now these people act as if this stuff is the same thing. Makes me cringe.

like, I'm trans myself. but I actually make an effort to be consistent with my identity. I grow facial hair, I wear men's clothing, I don't use female-specific terms to refer to myself. and, lo and behold, I pretty much never get misgendered.
My gut instinct tells me this lady is satirically mocking the entire concept of preferred pronouns, but I've been shown again and again that we are beyond parody, so I really just don't know. She's the Dylan Mulvaney of pronouns.

I was browsing the comments a bit. I know nothing about this girl (?) but I thought all this deameanor, overuse of "cutesy" thing etc in my experience often hides a sad story. And perhaps it is all a coping mechanism. I had no knowledge of her existence up until today, but my first thought was "what led you down that road"? Is it only a social media thing? Are you using it in real life? Are you avoiding real life as much as possible, ordering food online etc? I mean, if that person's happy with their life and isn't harming anyone, I can deal with it no prob. What if that's not the case tho?
Often times it feels those vulnerable people are used, weaponized by activists. Instead of actual solution to their problems. Might it be what happened here? Well I'm just conjecturing but worth thinking about.
I also dread of how many people see that and instantly think "worth bullying", without taking a single thought for a person's possible history. Thank you for showing this much needed compassion.

I feel like at a minimum, neopronouns should be monosyllabic. It kind of defeats the purpose if the pronoun is longer than your name
Some of these words are harder to say than any regular name. But also, there aren't many situations where I'd be referring to a person by a pronoun directly when speaking to them 🤷♀️
That’s why when anyone has ever asked for mine I’ve given “Äteritsiputeritsipuolilautatsijänkä/Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar” and said they’re pronounced just like they sound.

Thank you. As someone at the older end of the millenial generation, I have found myself struggling to meet everyone's pronoun needs. There are so many and I make missteps despite my best effort, and am not always forgiven. I don't feel free, because I'm told I'm wrong all the time despite truly good intentions, and treated like my efforts are not enough and I'm what's wrong with the world, because I'm a cis female. How is that OK? I feel like I have to be something else to be accepted and forgiven and that in itself is isolating. Instead of being a community of humans who teach each other who they are through example and interaction, we're a community of labels who put each other in tiny word prisons before we even make contact, and reject and punish each other before we even know each other. It goes against everything I've taught my kids about earning trust and deciding who gets to know them. Now we dump everything out and say "accept it, get it right, or you're a bad person." Some people are bad. But not because they get pronouns wrong.

Also I do like the point that she brings up that we most likely won't meet people who use these pronouns because they don't want to be around people who don't respect them. I do volunteer work in a public facing role. I've noticed some of the staff (women, typically), now have their pronouns on their name badges. If they ever ask me if I want to put pronouns on my name badge, they will be "batshit/crazy".
Since her departure from mainstream network television, Megyn Kelly has started her own independent show. It's so refreshing to see her speak without constraint, and earlier this year she did an episode in which she explained why she has decided never to use someone's "preferred pronouns." It's basically a matter of allowing someone else to control your language means that they get to control your outlook, or at a minimum, it's giving the proverbial inch.

I am waiting for the first brave and daring author to write a novel in which every character has neopronouns and those pronouns shift with every passing day/chapter in the book so that the reader is practically forced to make or keep a chart in order to know who is being referred to at any given time. Bonus points to the author if any of those characters trade neopronouns so that the one who was a lemon later on picks up the dragon neopronouns abandoned in an early chapter by a different character or something. The sheer amount of chaos would be utterly glorious and should be a good object lesson as to why no one actually has neopronouns or personal pronouns, just their personal name.

The thing that’s always confuses me most about pronouns is you’ll almost never use them to the person’s face. They are most commonly used to talk about the person and you rarely talk about the person in that way when they’re with you.
