One of the best Christmas movies of all time. Especially because Arnold Schwarzenegger's performance and and the many funny and quotable lines this movie has.

This movie reminds me of A Christmas Story, since they’re both about a toy and have sort of a relatable feeling.
A lot of great 90s actors in this movie. Phil Hartman is great in Small Soldiers and Sinbad is great in First Kid.

Yes it was slapstick comedy but it was not shallow. The main lesson for Arnold's character to learn was that family and keeping promises to your kid is more important than just working. The kid showed having his dad was more important than the material object. Those two points do touch on some of the more important meanings of Christmas.
For me it was kinda on the level of Spaceballs. I enjoyed both about equally as a kid. They're both pretty cheesy and I think Spaceballs is a little bit more clever in a way but Jingle All the Way made me feel more when I was a kid.
It's interesting to me that they are rated very differently.
Ted was such a creep and phil hartman played him so well god i miss him RIP to him still.

For future reference, kosher is not exactly a kind of salt. Kosher means something is allowed by Jewish dietary laws. So beef and chicken are kosher, pork and shellfish are not kosher. Dairy is kosher, but storing dairy and meat in the same fridge is not kosher, it breaks the rules to do that. Salt is usually not pure salt so it may or may not be kosher. 'Kosher Salt' is salt that has no additives

Joyless, unfunny, and unlikable Arnold Schwarzenegger pushes the movie's rating down to a deservingly low level. This is also the beginning of Schwarzenegger's fall from grace. He's now box office poison.
Fun Fact: The story is based on the 1980s shopping frenzy over the Cabbage Patch dolls. However, it ended up perfectly mimicking the Tickle Me Elmo craze of Christmas 1996.
I thought he was funny and likable in this movie.

not true this has become a Xmas classic and an Arnold favorite that gets shown every year and has become his most popular with kids. plus true lies came out after this so his fall from grace happen when he left acting to run for governor.
