But he really knows about art and how much can be valued, at the end i can see him smiling knowing that Rick got that pretty easy and fairly cheap, those pieces are worth tons of money today and that will be increasing he can gain a lot from them
he really isn't like this u know that eh? he was running with some gang bangers before, caught with guns and shit, hes a cool dude just not what he potrays.
You are correct. Seller's fees usually around that. Rick is probably adding both the buyer and seller's fees together which often adds to around 50 percent but that makes no sense in this situation.
Christie’s auctions take 35% on items appraised for over three quarters or a million dollars, more if they have to authenticate it themselves. Lower “high-end” auction houses (Vegas especially) are way worse.
If you are ever in Pittsburgh, I highly recommend visiting the Warhol Museum, which is the largest art museum dedicated to one artist (Warhol was born in Pittsburgh). Just a fabulous museum and there are a number of his shoe and cherub works on display. Warhol was a successful commercial artist prior to becoming an international sensation and his shoe artwork reflects his professional background.
I love how the art expert shoots down al of Ricks negativity concerning the pieces... not only in this clip but almost all the time they call that guy in he’s “for the buyer”... I like him a lot and I agree by just looking at them you can tell the water damage is on the outer part of the picture... you could easily just cut that part off if you really wanted to. Rick just tried to leverage his buying power by saying they’re in rough shape when really they’re not. It’s Andy Warhol for Gods sake!
the kids nice- yep. If Rick was in league with the appraiser like so many negative people think, the appraiser would have been agreeing with Rick "yeah Rick that water damage really brings the value down" but such was not the case.
I am surprised Rick didn't do his I have to get them restored, framed, pay the auction fees, they will sit around the store forever, and I am taking all the risk speech.
I worked at The Warhol Museum. These pieces aren’t prints. They are ink blot pieces that were hand done by Warhol. They were made during the time period when Warhol was a commercial artist in NYC…pre Pop Art. They are worth MUCH MORE than what these jokers paid the seller. He should have gone to a legitimate art gallery in NYC.
Why do these sellers never contact museums or notable collectors first? I’m sure the Warhol Museum in Pitt would have loved these prints and definitely would have bought them for over $27k.
Couple of reasons, 1. They dont exactly have a rolodex for rich people who want to buy fine art. 2. You think museums dont know how to haggle? 3. Its a much more straightforward transaction: give me your art and I will give you cash on the same day.
highly recommend going to the warhol museum. i visited pittsburgh a number of years ago and it was the absolute highlight of my trip. there is a section of the museum with a number of watercolors on display with subjects such as cats, cherubs and shoes. museums don't pay top dollar, especially today with the major artists going for ridiculous amounts of money. if this gentleman was benevolent, he could have donated them to the museum, which is how many museums build their collections. i don't blame him for selling them though.
Brett is such a great guy and always positive and nice. He even calls the Pawn Stars guys "gentleman". I bet he never got close to getting into a fight as a kid.
Wait, so you're telling me that this man actually asked for a HIGHER amount, so that when he negotiated down it was closer to what he actually wanted? That's unheard of.
the moment he saw the expert tell the seller about how much he could get for them at the auction, Rick immediately had to downplay the auction and say the fee's can go up to 50%, because he knows most times sellers are going to take the auction route after hearing how much they can actually get for them.
I have seen a few of Andy Warhol's originals on display in Dallas a few years ago and they are expensive. One of his paintings had a retail of 2 million. I was flabbergasted.
Nobody in their right mind would try to sell an original signed Warholl at a pawn shop. Its imperative to take them to Sothebies or Christies auction houses for valuation .
"What were you looking to do with them?" "Well I definitely wasn't looking to sell them I wanted to do a monkey dance outside in the street holding the art pieces I definitely wasn't looking to sell them......"
Lol I always find it funny that whenever someone sells something on here they get the sense that they made a good deal when in reality after the guy leaves Rick is going to try to sell it for more then double of what the original offer was.
Rick: Original hand drawn Warhols you gotta understand ive gotta buybthem from you and then mark them up rediculously and then sell them extremely quickly because its such a popular artist you see the risk im taking here?
I love art because it's inspired me. Older days arts r from 60' 70' even very simple arts worth more money on that days and now days you have to be more creative, passionate, try something new. Then you get money. ☺😎
Jeez, 50% commission? Glad auctions here in the UK are capped at 37.5% (from the last time I remember) but never had to pay more than 28%. The higher commissions are London, Manchester etc.
PuNKD Steven most English auctions u don’t pay fees anymore it’s called a buyers premium the buyer pays the commission on top I think most big auction houses do this now so rick is talking bullshit have the time there is no commission just some fees that are 5% max
He’s exaggerating... it’s more like 20-30%... he’s just trying to leverage his buying power in this situation with the only plausible concern the seller might have because he knows they’re in immaculate condition. Even the water damage on them is limited to the outer edge of the painting
They MUST have the specialist review artwork PRIOR to taping because there is NO WAY any REAL Art specialist would come in look at artwork for 2 minutes and confirm if it is real or fake and then give a value. They would BE the laughingstock of that industry!!
Chum proved to be absolutely essential in this deal
Of course. If he didn't write him up, there'd be no sale.

This is my favorite expert. So professional and knowledgeable
Most auctions are only 10-15%. Ive never seen a 50% auction fee
You are correct. Seller's fees usually around that. Rick is probably adding both the buyer and seller's fees together which often adds to around 50 percent but that makes no sense in this situation.
Most auction fees are a total of of 30%
Christie’s auctions take 35% on items appraised for over three quarters or a million dollars, more if they have to authenticate it themselves.
Lower “high-end” auction houses (Vegas especially) are way worse.
That's right just another buying technique you could easily sell those artworks privately
Sotheby's
You keep asking for more money until Rick says not a penny more.
Jose GARCIA we have the same name
Armondo Garcia. No cause my name isn't Armondo.
Mr. Garcia and Mr. Brown got along famously.

It's a shame, they could have easily been sold to a gallery for 50K for the lot.
Yeah, but like Rick said, sometimes auction fees can get as high as 50%. So, he would have made less if he did that
@@assmane999 wtf do u know about auctions
@@assmane999 average high end percent would be no more than 33%
I would’ve kept them. There’s no way I would take anything less than six figures for an early hand made Warhol original.
It was printed and he only did the colours... not exactly six figure material. If you get one you should just hold onto it!
I'd watch your show. Whatchola Stars

Rick couldn’t have closed the deal without Chum standing there. Eyes glazed. Mouth hanging open. He is ESSENTIAL!
You can see that Rick really understands the value of art, he let the guy talk him back toward what the customer wanted
Chum’s facial reactions in these old episodes is priceless
This came in my recommend! And I’m best friends with Andy Warhol’s great nephew! My friends father works at the museum!
