Tip #1- Never, EVER go wheelin' alone #2- Air down tires for better traction #3- CB #4- Always take girlfriend. So when you're stuck, ya can fuck! LOL! You're welcome and have a nice day! 😆
I was more scared for you when you wandered into private land. Tbose are the most scariest moments because you don't know if the owners are gonna come after you with guns.
This is my minimum for winter wheeling, especially alone. Rear locker in a 4 wheel drive, chains for the rear, and a come along with a heavy duty rope/strap.
Farmers don't run out shooting people... They come out with a weapon to "Ask" you what's going on. Some of you idiots need to fuck off with your stereotypes.
its not legal to shoot someone on your property in Ontario Canada if you do they can sue you and say they did not know it was private and they will lose. criminals or accidental trespassers have more rights than the property owner
I would have at least tried low range, if the rear is open diff add a few clicks on the parking brake, I don't have a wench but always carry strap, come along rope, jack plate and some tools still things happen good video
Been there and done that. Excellent video on what could happen in the bush. That said, a simple set of chain would have helped. I have a winch plus locker front / back on my Rubi and trust me when I say it doesn't help much unless one would be willing to winch on and off all the way out. The solution is a simple, get yourself a cheap set of chains. Even studded tires is a 50/50 in this situation. Not cool driving in the farmers field ...still a fun video.
I've been on a lot of roads like that ti deliver fuel. I always carried chains though. I've even been on one where the people had cut a trench on the high side of the glaciered area with a chainsaw. It worked for their pickup but, it actually made my job more difficult. 10 wheels and everything with ice cleat chains.
You should never do trails like that alone and unprepared. Also airing down the tires makes an enormous difference in the snow. You should only go alone on trails that you are familiar with and know how to prepare for.
I only wheel in the summer. I live in Minnesota and I drive on plenty of snow and ice in the winter and a lonely icy trail just isn't my thing. Great escape !!
That trip didn't go bad. That was perfect. You just need to get a little lost to get the blood pumping stay on a trail and you will eventually find civilization. Bravo! P.S Carry chains, they work in dirt / mud and snow very helpful.
SPEED IS KEY!!! And it was the middle of winter people Shure it was foolish and disrespectful to the people's fields I wouldn't be happy if it was my field but in the moment there was no other choice and driving in the in winter isn't going to harm the field and the next seasons crops will be fine let's be realistic now
And? I often access private property to fish, hunt, scuba dive and drive trails.... Asking permission is super easy. All you sissies complaining and making assumptions is sickening.
@@dillonhillier Yep, i'm here too but i'm on the south side of the GTA so all the crownland is 2 hours of riding minimum, lol. i really gotta move up there at least for the summer. i've talked to a few landowners down here and found some legal riding though so its not all bad. riding back and forth to crown land racked up like 10k kms on my bike just last season alone.
@@0xsergy when I lived in Toronto I used to hit up the Minden area, some decent trails. Now I live west of ottawa and have 1000s of acres of CL 45-hour away.
No winch and wheeling by yourself. Come on man, it doesn't get much more foolish. Not to mention the blatant disregard for other people's lands. Please don't follow this example people.
its a good thing you didn't attempt that hill back, most people would think its the only way, that's when things go bad, I have a 2014 rubicon and it don't like icy hills without studded snow tires.
You whine like a pregnant yak. I'm not saying it's okay to trespass, but one stock-ish Jeep cutting across the edge of a field in winter isn't going to do much. Considering that come spring it's probably going to be tilled anyway, a set of light tire tracks aren't going to matter.
good rule is to approach the farmers get to know them ask if it would be ok to cross their property after harvest (not over crops) and maybe give them your number and lend a hand fixing fence's or hanging out, you'd be surprised how many will go wheeling with you..
I would have checked to see how soft that field was before driving across it. learned to do that the hard way by being a dumb 16YO with a truck and earned myself a pretty hefty ticket. That shit gets expensive real quick.
Lockers make a HUGE difference. It usually reduces the need to bash your way thru. You can crawl and save abuse on driveline. Ice is BAD no matter what. It in any situation I’d prefer lockers all day long. Experience and seat time in situations is something you just can’t teach.
I know a lot of people have great ideas , but that would have happened to me too. You don't carry sand with you in a Jeep, barely fit 2 people in them. That's y we love them, o ya and all the guys saying you need lockers are idiots! I have lockers, and live in Maine they don't do shit on ice.
I lived in Maine for 18 years. Lockers make a world of difference on ice, especially on a trail like this. Instead of one tire spinning on ice, one tire can be in the side dirt and give enough traction to crawl past the ice.
1st like !!! looks pretty intense on the icy hill,my heart would be pounding with my Muders ive been running them all winter. Good thing your a good driver or it would have been a bad solo run day
I heard rescue is free in Cannada. Does it also include the vechile. Also that must be giving some kind of pin stripping. Both my Jeeps had stipes in Arizona from Wheeling in the Sonoran desert. Never thought Ontario would have the same deal.
If you're going to drive thru private property to save yourself, the least you can do is take the time to hug the fringes and not go blasting across his corn rows! Come on! Have some respect. And by the way, the second rule of off roading is, "never go down something you can't get back up (or vice versa).
there called maxtrac plus ice and mud I don't know of any web link for them but the next time I go to the store I'll ask the owner what site he ordered them from and get the link to you. they slip over the tire and winch down like a come along but with a socket style twist lock
Hold on....did you even try to bomb that hill fast as shit? That’s the only way to make the icy hills haha. Also airing down makes a massive difference in the snow and a little bit on ice.
You handled the situation A-OK in my book. You should always carry a bag full of necessities however.. (food/water, shovel/sand or a jack, and recovery equipment if you have no winch). Otherwise, great video!
coyote den what's wrong? How about trespassing, how about doing it like a total dick and ripping across the middle of a farmer's field. All because he was unprepared. Hell posting a stuck thread on one of the local forums or Facebook pages would have gotten a whole bunch of people out to rescue him.
I don't even think a tow truck could get ya down there if there was no way out. Bag of sand would have been a blessing. Glad you both got our!
a tow truck on that road? that'd be one brave driver.
Nice adventure! Fear no more, just jeep more:)
That trail/road was nothing my truck could have gone through that like a dry city street.

So true and make sure your winch is rated higher than your vehicle weighs...

Just looked like trespassing to me..

From the tracks in the snow it looks like you have some of the worst tires for the snow always carry your chains
He would have needed the power of the kia sorento to climb that icy hill
driving across a corn field is how u get shot by farmers..ride the edge of the fields!
the crop is harvested and no damage was done cause in spring its plowed and seeded for new crop.
killswitch001 this is in Canada your not getting shot by anyone but a criminal.

Lockers plus chaining up your rear tires. They maybe illegal on the streets but not on forest service roads.
Chains are illegal in Canada? What next? Magazines cost more.. oh.
on public roads they are but you can still buy them here for when you go in deep snow and off road.

Title should say "tresspassing with jeep"
he probably thought he'd get lots of "likes" and wicked comments from other jeep owners.
At 3:13 the driver starts hearing banjo's and hog calls...
nice video fun to see people offroading near me. will have to check out some of the trails near Peterborough and Bethany
Blaming a couple inches of snow for the driver not knowing how to drive
Bet that farmer was pissed when ran across your tracks.
someone had it in perfect rows...
I wonder what they grow in winter up there.

Cody C if he had lockers he could have kept half the Jeep off the trail on the snow and it would have made it up.
Yep, it’s the same on the wet clay we have around here. Lockers bring a whole new list of ways to get around offroad besides the obvious one.
I lived in Maine for 18 years. Lockers make a world of difference on ice, especially on a trail like this. Instead of one tire spinning on ice, one tire can be in the side dirt and give enough traction to crawl past the ice.

Winter wheeling is good shit. Icy hills tend to sneak up on ya. Did you have it in 4 low and let the engine slow you instead of braking?
Yeah I did that, definitely helps!
there is a learning curve. nobody is born off roader. nice try and i am glad you were out by your own.
Ya chains when you need them are worth there weight in gold lol. I see you figured out to get off the ice!

At 3:50, drop tire pressure to 8 psi, drive home.....
Useless to say it but always bring something if you are on your own in the snow and ice whether it's cat litter carpet salt or some gravel
Cat litter is clay and is horrible, it turns to mush and makes it slicker.
Yeah that shit doesn't actually work in a real situation. Bring a winch. Bring chains. Bring a shovel. Bring a cb. Bring a friend

looks like fun!!!
I guess I missed the part where it went bad.
Chains..should've put chains at least on the front the first time you encountered ice
