Thankfully I didn’t end up in prison at any point, I’ve done some very very very questionable things in my time, I had the most middle class almost upper class upbringing you could get, dad used to collect whiskey and a couple thousand bottles, I used to steal them at early age and before you know it couple years later was an alcoholic, spent a year living in a tent in the Forrest by myself, robbing shops for alcohol, doing some dumb shit but thankfully didn’t end up in prison, now 2.5 years sober and working as a complaints manager, how things turn when you get your head down

We get punished for not having spotless pads so always cleaning them and if you're not working in most jails 5 days a week they cut you back to basic and make your time a lot harder...the comment about porridge is just you being a twat what does having nice food have to do with rehabilitation you act like if you starve someone's taste buds they'll suddenly be reformed...canteen is a treat for good behaviour and work and the meals served are already shite so guess you got half your twisted fantasy

I was banged up for 18mths at the age of 17 1990, Brockhill remand centre, Winson Green (adult prison with landing on a wing set out of YP allocation) and Onley. No TV's , slop out, shit parcels, lines, shit flicker shoes, Green and Greys for visits, bed packs, governors inspection.
Felt like I went from from the classroom to the prison cell in the click of my fingers. Was a bit of a shock to the system and I'm not ashamed to admit I shed a tear or 2 on that first night in brockhill but you soon get used to it. I'm not saying these kids have it good but it was definitely worse back then. I hear they have phones in their cells now, I didnt even make a phone call the whole sentence. Nobody I knew had a phone 🤣. Was lucky to get a visit but shit happens and you live and learn.

Fair play hard enough I'd say, but in the maze in ni for 20 years prisoner's living in an open sewer and naked, tried to slop out and was thrown back in at them, 10 men died on hunger strike because of it and won their rights, then they pretty much ran the jail ..screws were too afraid of getting a parcel under their cars, and 40 of the screws were killed...crazy times in ni back in the day

@@jackietreehorn5561 yeh there's prisons in some parts of the world that could break even the strongest of men. Slop out and no tvs or phones in their cells would be the least of their worries. Some haven't even a bed they're sleeping on a section of their cell floor and there are 20 other prisoners in there. They fear for their lives daily. Being sent to prison in most of Europe would be literally like a holiday camp for these people.

What some of these people need is more rehabilitation centers rather than a prison sentence, some of the Wings in this prison could easily be made open part of the prison and they continue to stay there after six months until they have found them a permanent job and somewhere permanent to live then they are less likely to reaffend or get back into problems again sometimes it's just these young men mixing in with the wrong people I believe a lot of these people just need some help in the right direction.....

I had little guidance from a dad figure but my mum did a great job although she didn't know the full scale.

Shame people can't just behave themselves (and think before they act) and therefore not wind up in this situation. I suppose that's wishful thinking and not as simple as that. There will always be bad people who do bad things and feel great about it, and indeed "good" people who make mistakes and end up regretting their actions. I personally think life is precious, and short, and nothing should be taken for granted HENCE I could never commit a crime.
Thumbs up to those men and women who make that mistake, do the time but end up better people in the end. That's the only positive thing I can say about criminals.

They are thrown out of jail to go live in a hostel that is far worse than jail with no job and because of their conviction(s) will find it very difficult to find one so any wonder a lot of these lads turn to drugs to cope or steal to try and better their situation. Most of these lads are set up to fail and without support a lot of them will fail. It's genuinely very sad and a broken system all round.

I hear "whered you stab him" than heard a biys voice, i was like "what", totally thought it was going to be a girl . I guess from going to adult jail at 16 in #america, to watching this we all just laughing at these kids, and adults, the orison is more like a "holiday" they get treated so well, better than being on the streets for these guys

@@01animal01 There looks like a kinder guarden, come to south america, lets see if u survive 1 day here, the same day u go to jail HERE, U have to be ready to sharpen an iron, make a blade and fight for your life.
The first day of prison here, when u leave the cell, they ask you, are you dog or cat? if you say dog you have to fight whoever offers you, otherwise, if y say "cat" and u act like a pussy, they will stab u to death at the same time that they drop your body out the unit.
