I was bored so I just searched “sand” on TH-cam and sorted by new and this was a surprisingly interesting and relaxing video, despite never having fished in my life.

haha, those are grass shrimp... They are sold in tropical fish stores as live fish food. Fresh water grass shrimp.. What great fun... Those are grass shrimp. You get them the same type of way as sand fleas you can net them on grass. It’s a popular easy way to fish on lake okeechobee for crappie. Loved the vid!
I can’t believe how different the bluegills look in that lake! I grew up catching them in Central Florida but they were different colored. So nice you got a chance to get out there and fish with your Dad. That’s very special!

I really enjoy the mix of fishing you do, As a viewer from the other side of the globe it is watching the full range of fishing opportunities you have in the States that makes yours and BBB's channels great to watch. In the past I have watched other American fishing but they fish fresh or Salt water not both. So I ask you keep up the diversity
Hell Brant I go to Destin for vacation once a year and even I own 2 sand flea rake. Grandkids love catching sand fleas. We stay at a condo near the restaurant Back Porch. Love surf fishing.

Personally, I enjoy the variety. I grew up freshwater fishing, and have been doing surf fishing the past few years, as I dont have a boat. That was a cool video, to see both in one vid. You sure did go all over the species map. 4 or 5 saltwater species, and 5 freshwater. Time with friends, time with family. Wow... seems like an awesome day, to me!
You ever consider mounting your camera on your head? When you're on a lot of fish the footage is your arms and the reel for most of it. Just a suggestion.
Those were the smallest shrimp I have ever seen that were alive!! But..man...those Blue Gills were attacking them. Don't know if that would work here in Texas. We just use good ol' worms. Excellent video!!!

Hey Brant..I'll be in orange beach this weekend and I'm bringing fishing gear, really want to try the sand flea thing..Can you fish anywhere along the beach, or are there areas where surf fishing is not allowed? (private beaches excluded of course) And, not your department I know, but just a rant... Alabama really sticks non residents for a simple license to fish for a weekend by requiring a 7 day at almost 30 bucks.. Crazy!...Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana offers a 3 day for a reasonable amount. I guess I'll end up resorting to buying ANNUAL non resident licenses for Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and Alabama, Just gets expensive, just to have something to do while my wife is soaking up the sun..haha
Do you blanch yours before freezing? I hear that really helps preserve them. I freeze them too, but alive, they fill the bag with sand flee pee before they actually freeze resulting in the sand flees being frozen in there own pee. Kinda gross.
@@reellifefishing2508 My dad will catch quite a few and par boil them til they start to turn almost pink. Then soon as they are done being boiled put them in a freezer bag so he can use them all season. Or even on the boat.
I would give anything to go fishing with my dad just one more time.

Fishin with pops, what's better than that! My dad lives in NYC so when he visits us down south we always hit the water together at least once
Love fishing off the beach... we always throw gotcha plugs and catch ladyfish, Spanish, blue runners off of the beach at destin
I used them for bait on the Vero Beach Bridge on the edge of the main Chanel at ebb tide.
Every cast caught either an Amber Jack or Sheepshead.
I liked the fresh water fishing
Good video. I live 5 hrs from the beach. So I only fresh water fish. Those were some monster bluegill. I’ve never caught any that big.

Polliwog is a tadpole or or early stage of a frog? What you caught was a bullhead catfish which you can also catch them in back water and ponds.

Most of it is public beaches. You can pull off any of the roadside parking and fish.

I caught a good bit of sand fleas with my hands at the beach last Saturday have them in the freezer so I can use them next time I got out
