Remind me again, what year is the car? 98? OBD2.
Also. When you lowered the tranny, you don't need to remove the radiator to gain clearance? This is awesome!

its a 97, first year of the M3 sedans. the radiator is far enough away that it isnt a problem, the engine mounts will stop flexing before the fan has a chance to touch it:)

What did you do with the electrical connection you removed at 16:05? For the mean time it's just hanging as you removed the transmission, what did you do with it after? It seems to travel up into the engine bay. Haven't been able to trace it down but if you're able to answer this that'd be great! Thanks, and great videos.

It's part of the main engine harness. I just run it up and tuck it by the airbox, only way to really get rid of it is to replace the harness with a manual one.

the car has to be in neutral to move the driveshaft right? mines in park and at this point there’s no way of turning it on to move it to neutral is there another way?

I have a question dude. I'm doing an M50B25NV swap as well, would it make sense to do any of this with the engine out? I realize that means the transmission has nothing to bolt onto, but if you had to put a % on how much of the swap I can do with the engine out, what would it be?

hey M3nace Great videos! I have the manual box in, pedals done, jumper wire on neutral switch etc. The car cranks, but the main (ECU) relay isn't clicking (no spark, no fuel pump) I tried switching relays etc. no good. My scan tool says EWS and everyting is ok. I CUT the main tranny electrical cable. Should I have just tucked it away. Any help would be great. Australian 1996 (late EWS2) 318is. PS there is 12v at the MAIN relay, the ground, which I believe is switched through the DME is absent, so the relay doesn't energise. Can I jumper the relay, or will that release the smoke from the DME?

Is the two pin connector you take off and the automatic transmission when doing the prep to remove it is that connector used on the manual transmission?if not in my able to cut it and then use it as the two pin connector for the reverse lights on the manual transmission?

@@M3NACE I know you said not to strip any bolts on trans but....... Unfortunately I wasn't on the bolt properly and it became slightly stripped nothing too bad I'm pretty sure if I can get the socket back on and really get it on there it'll definitely come free when I try to crack it loose if that's not the case and it turns out to be worse..... What is a recommendation you could give me I know you can't make any promises but if this gives me more of a problem any help that anybody will give me would be much appreciated it's the bolt on the right hand side so it's the passenger side and it's not exactly on top but it's on the round part coming down by the exhaust now mind you I did have to take my exhaust manifolds out unfortunately the bolts were so bad that I had to remove everything meaning I had to cut my exhaust and then remove my headers so with that being said if it does become more stripped what would be something you think I could get away with to get it out? you think it would be possible for me to fit a drill where the exhaust manifolds were and drill it out and then just use a bigger torx when I reinstall the manual trans?

And keep in mind I'm doing most of this by myself like seriously pretty much everything I've done on the car has been by myself for this manual swap so far so it's pretty hard for me to do this when I don't have any help

@@joeyo5421 try and hammer the socket on there to max out the grip on it. If you can get an impact on it, even better. Take your time, and dont make it worse lol
