    Another nice demo and interestingly what isn't mentioned in the majority of YT videos is using it with Single Coil or Humbuckers and different amps, Pedals are reactive and change with different setups and don't think that's ever been mentioned in most YT Videos. Thanks for a sensible review of a great pedal.

      Plastic pedals might also be more tolerant of errant drops onto hard floors. Metal has very little give and will transmit the full force of an impact to the circuit board. Plus, there are many firearms made from plastic.

    • @ProFunctionist
      @ProFunctionist  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, I was quite surprised with this pedal. From the little bit of digging I've done, it does seem that the OD100 and OD300 are essentially the same pedal. Presumably, the 300 is an updated version but don't know how they actually differ. They are however both clones of the Boss OS-2.

    This is a really good review, I've come back to it (I own one of these but have'nt used it much). In distortion mode, I don't think it sounds far off from the Boss DS-1 or Proco Rat territory. The OD sound is beautiful and warm, as you say. Great playing and licks too, I wish I could play half as well!

      @ProFunctionist  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for the comment. I do have an DS-1 and have done a video on it. Sounded quite thin to me but apparently it is best used into a slightly driven amp. May have to re-visit that one.

    Revisiting my youth and bought two guitars and a Marshall 30 watter, this time around to actually learn and not just make loud noises!!! Subbed, just because you did a cracking job with this review. Speaking of the review, I'm going to order this Behringer because it didn't do too bad with humbuckers , my Squier Showmaster is HSS, and the Epi SG VE is HH. Cheap guitars I know, but for the money I'm chuffed to bits with them. Great channel and content! Off to scour through your other videos now. 👍👍👍☮☮☮
    PS: Hope you reach your 1K goal real soon , keep up the great work :)

    • @ProFunctionist

      Cheap guitars nowadays are usually pretty good, especially if it's a Squier. But even if your guitar is cheap, I'm sure your playing is expensive (or will be one day). Keep going and thanks!

    Remember that these Behringer pedals, although they sound great, are at the price-point they are because the physical components are the lowest quality Behringer can get away with. And that's fine. It's a $25 pedal. It gives you an idea of what the BOSS equivalent sounds like before you plunk down on a genuine BOSS pedal.
    I'm currently having an issue with an Ultra Chorus. Output B puts out 3/4 of the volume that Output A does when connected in stereo. It also started cutting out in both channels when I'd strum a chord. I got this one from Sweetwater and they have been great by sending me a fresh one at no charge so I can troubleshoot further and hopefully resolve the issue.
    If the one Sweetwater sends me does the same thing as the bad one I'll order the BOSS Super Chorus and be done with it. I know I'll feel better about spending the $100 on the BOSS know I used the $25 Behringer pedal as I believe it was intended. I.E. Make them as cheap as possible, eat the returns and refunds, and sell a shit ton of them. It's a genius business model.
    And if I'm not mistaken Uli (Behringer) recycles all of that plastic that comes in as returns. I get the feeling that they do get a lot of returns, but if you use them as a test run before buying a BOSS pedal, and you don't depend on them to gig with you'll be OK.
    These are not built for lead foot stomping by any means.
    That's my 2¢ for what it's worth.
    Keep on rockin'!!!

      @@ProFunctionist do you think this simulates a Boss DS1 or SD1? I mean, could sound equal those two?

    • @ProFunctionist
      @ProFunctionist  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@edgarparada3946 This pedal is based on a Boss pedal of the same name (Overdrive Distortion). So it is meant to simulate that pedal. As for sounding similar to the DS-1 or SD-1, I'd say the DS-1 is a bit brighter.
      I did a review on that a few months ago but I was playing through a 1x12 cab. In this review I am playing through a 2x12 cab which will sound beefier and which might be why the DS-1 sounded quite bright. I'd say the Behringer OD300 (or the original Boss version) are more versatile as they have the option for lower gain. As for the SD-1 I've not tried that pedal yet but I would like to get one.
      I hope that helps a bit.

      I'm not sure to be honest. I would think not generally speaking. But I'm sure a lot of people would say the tone is in the fingers, which doesn't really help with your question. That being said, the ability to blend between overdrive and distortion may reveal a Santana sweet spot somewhere in the middle. Sorry I couldn't give a more insightful answer.
