    One can only experience a deep sense of respect and admiration while watching this artisan exercise his craft. We, as a society, have been so fast to embrace cheaply mass produced products to enhance our leisure while forfeiting the enduring quality that true artistic craftsmanship can afford. Every time Tina’s hand grasps the gifted knife to yield in her vocation, the feeling of priceless gratitude will overwhelm her. An incredible present, the fruit of his labour. What a wonderful narration Tina has provided in documenting this individual’s creative abilities, priceless content! 🥹

    • @MichelleMuck555
      @MichelleMuck555 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Mass produced products are the backbone of laissez- faire capitalism on which the money markets function for continued growth. Products such as this artisan’s knife are a specialty item which would draw an elevated price which only a certain affluent client could afford. It represents a relatively limited market. Wouldn’t you agree? 😂👻

    • @MichelleMuck555
      @MichelleMuck555 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, no response. Then maybe I should elaborate further. Money markets include markets for such instruments as bank accounts, including term certificates of deposit; interbank loans (loans between banks); money market mutual funds; commercial paper; Treasury bills; and securities lending and repurchase agreements. By Goods Market, we mean all the buying and selling of goods and services. By Money Market, we mean the interaction between demand for money and the supply of money (the size of the money stock) as set by the Federal Reserve working through the banking system. The money market determines the interest rate. The demand for money in the money market is affected by income (which is determined in the goods market).
      The goods market determines income, which depends on planned investment. Planned investment in turn depends on the interest rate (which is determined in the money market). Now that I have aroused your interest, any questions? 👻

Such an interesting process, I can't believe there are so many layers of metal in that knife... and the patterns that come from those layers being twisted, soooooo interesting!! I really do hope more of these "dying arts" gain some steam again. The new knife isn't as shiny and bright as your old Japanese knife, but I think that being there for its creation and the back story behind it adds greater meaning and value to the new knife. So great that you'll be able to hand that down through the future generations.

    Always loved the stories handmade damascus knives tell. That's one of the sole reasons why I only use handcrafted Japanese knives because of my appreciation for the craftsmanship and pure artisinal finishes these knives are able to showcase. Knives tells stories and a chef's story is the plate he/she puts out everyday for his/her diners, love how those journeys always collide together to form a true bond. Also handmade knives are just superior, in quality, sharpness, blade retention, and so many other things. Love how Tina captures all of this in the video, masterpiece 🙌🙌

    this came at a time in my life of great uncertainty about my future, and i really spoke to me about what it means to endure difficulties.
    the work is hard, like every work has its difficulties, and it can’t be all good. it’s hard and it takes years to be good at this job. sometimes it won’t pay and you’ll be tempted to go do other jobs, but they won’t be as right for you. there’s a sense of home when you do what you feel is right for you. there’s also something to be said about not giving up and sticking to something you’ve already put a lot of time and money and patience into learning. “it’s what i learned since i was young” is not a wrong perspective when you feel like you’d like to feel some sense of belonging to your craft: you have been learning it and sometimes you need to trust yourself in that first choice to start learning it. sometimes your doubts and the hardships will make you question why you’re doing this and if you really love it enough to endure all of it, but time and patience and endurance really make people grow stronger, more resistant. it’s through hardships that knives become so sharp. the response to your work should give you pride and joy, but the whole ride can be hard and uncertain sometimes. it’s okay to question why you’re doing it if you’re not seeing results or feeling sure in your ability to do it. it takes perseverance: there’s no job in the world you’ll instantly be great at and that will feel like it was made for you without putting in the effort to learn the craft and the patience to stick at it. “i think his work.. the more you twist, the more you press, the harder it becomes and the stronger it becomes. if you’re ever comfortable with something there’s no need to progress. it’s a part of growing stronger and sturdier. i like that time, age, suffering create something beautiful and sturdy that can last years as knives.”

    Wooww this was such an excellent video! the audio is so perfectly balanced, your production value and narrative is so good i feel like im watching something from the glory days of the travel channel, or the glory days of rebel VICE. Your videos entertain me on par with Anthony Bourdains Parts Unknown.
    Thank you for documenting this mans brilliance in his craft! my boyfriends nephew is only 15 and has forged some crazy things. My boyfriend bought him a small forge for christmas last year! i will show him this video and hopefully inspire him to continue learning.

    its beautiful, everything about this video is just so moving and enlightening. It really made me realize that the amount of effort that goes into a craft and made me regret how less i valued that.
    great job on the way the video was made, it doesn't feel like a static documentary but more like I'm sitting and listening to someone who has given his life into the perfection of a craft. and it motivated me not to shy away from the sadness, hardwork and suffering that comes in the pursuit of a goal because they are the very things that forge a chunk of metal into a sharp blade.
    I'm really grateful

    That was a great documentary! Bravo! I went through a lot of emotions during those 20 minutes... AND it was so interesting! That man is more than an artist, he is a great soul. An example of resilience... That is a quality I'm trying to acquire and definitely trying to teach to my daughters. You are great, please, find the time to explore that kind of vidéos. We can feel your passion .

    That's what I call perfection! Just an idea! Why don't you sell his knives in your restaurant, online, or help him open an online shop to support his income :D I would love to know how much his knives cost and maybe buy one. He's a great guy, he deserves to be supported!!! This episode is really emotional and you are the perfect ambassador for Korean products. I hope we will see more episodes like this in the future!!! 💪👍

    This is so beautiful to witness, there's a world in cooking, but there are so many more worlds with the equipment that supports cooking. I'm happy I got to watch this. We can only hope art forms like this never die. I hope to own a knife like that someday.

    "... even if it meant that I could only barely feed myself, I wanted to come back to doing what made me happy."
    It takes a profound understanding of life and the world to come to this realization and find happiness without having so much of what many other people desire and tire themselves out for. He's as sharp as the knives he makes. I hope everyone gets to find their own true happiness ❤
