Great video. Here's a suggestion... I hated scooping out the oil every time, so I heat up the oil until it's liquid and then measure it out into muffin tins. My popper uses 1/3 cup of oil, which almost fills a small muffin cup. After I fill the tins, I put them in the fridge to harden. After a few hours, I pop them out and put them in baggies. I worked for a movie theater company for many years.. I can tell you you've got it.. The coconut oil with the Flavacol (used sparingly) will give you the traditional theater popcorn everyone thinks of.. Soy Bean oil, that might be what is in that yellow bottle is the buttery topping that's used because.. Be careful with the coconut oil.. I've seen a lot of movie theater fires that started at the popcorn popper because the oporator let the oil get too hot before adding the popcorn...
Great video. One tip to those who want to buy white coconut oil at the grocery store is to make sure to get refined coconut oil. Unrefined coconut oil will make the popcorn taste like coconut. Not a bad thing, but some may not appreciate that. I actually don't mind it. The coconut oil sold as movie theatre oil is refined and colored with beta-carotene and does not impart any coconut flavor, but adds a nice bright yellow tint to the final product. We eat with our eyes, so that yellow color is very visually appealing. Love my popcorn!!!
Just a warning with Flavacol. When measuring it out, go by the chart on the carton for how much popcorn you are popping. It is very high in sodium, so don't over do it.
Agreed. I use a machine almost the same as his and I leave instructions out so people can make more when I'm not there, but I make a note to only put in maybe a 1/4-1/2 a spoon (the one that came with the machine) to every scoop of kernels. It's way overpowering if you use too much.

One great thing about living in south Florida is that you can grow everything you need to make popcorn. Coconuts for oil, popcorn and even butter if you have access to cows. I make my own popcorn grown in my yard and extract oil from piles of coconuts. It all goes in the Star 86 popper. Never was able to get color to put in the oil though.
That’s awesome. I live in Central Florida. If you have the patience to do all that, that’s awesome. I’m sure all natural is probably way better as well.
@@WheeledHamster I have stored over 100 lbs, of popcorn in 2015 and it is still good. I did put it in a 5 gallon Mylar bag in a bucket and sealed with an oxygen absorber.
Be careful, because if it sits too long, especially exposed to air, it does go stale and won’t pop well. We used to have two poppers at work - a double popper and a single popper. We only used the single popper when it was busy. We had a drawer that we kept the kernels in, and if we didn’t use the popper for long periods, we could tell the popcorn was stale because it just wouldn’t pop well (and it eventually burned sooner than it normally would).

Hey, I don’t know where to get flavacol what is an alternative seasoning?
You can get flavocol on amazon.
is that coconut oil colored yellow with food coloring?
with beta carotene
I think it's annato powder
Beta Carotene. Found naturally in many foods/veggies and can be made synthetically. It's a precursor to Vitamin A. Hard to read on the label but I know it's oil-soluble and makes sense to use it to color oil.
Aged orangutan piss✅✅
Oh my greatness!!!!!
What the amount of coconut that you use.
Amish country baby white popcorn .....pop in white coconut oil and plain butter. Can't beat it.
