This #e30 finally got some TLC!! Let me know if you want more E30 content by liking and commenting on this video! Don't worry we still have more projects in the background waiting for their time to shine ;)! Thanks for watching and supporting as always!
@@ShopLifeTV Thanks man, I love these cars. I used to have a 325i and I miss that car so much. Here in the U.K you have to pay alot of money in getting a good one.
17:20 that's what we call the "Slimer Ooze" in the VW world. Shits expensive about 60.00 for a tube, but works great on cork, and just gaskets in general where you don't want a solid, hard seal.
Thats awesome man! Love the E30 chassis, super easy to work on and no need to worry about diagnostic tools for First Timers. Hope you are able to enjoy the car this summer! Good Luck!
All the BMW you guys do is great! But IMHO the dream build would be the famous yet never over done S54 into E30 swap! From what I have garnered that set up is truly one of the greatest parings for engine to chassis. The power along with the E30 weight and suspension, size etc makes for one of the best driving cars EVER! I have the engine and the trans LSD etc. But not the E30 LOL.
Brings me back to when I had my e30 had it two flavors 1998 325is black and 1985 318 in white... I've been shopping for one and they are hard to find. at least hard to find complete not rusted out or missing a ton of parts keep up the good video love the videos
Don't forget you have to get it aligned now, that's why it was not tracking perfect on the test drive. Also, you forgot to tighten the sway bar tie rods 'under load' not while hanging on the lift. Other than that, great video!
Oh man! I'm sure when you sold it, you didn't think you would miss it much or even how the market for e30s has significantly increased. At least you got to enjoy it for the time that you had it!
i remember when you use to liver in LA we meet up at your shop rolled to bimmerfest 30 cars on the freeway mashing super fun men i just bought super clean E30
Lots of great info here as always, Jason!🤙 Random question, do you generally not use a funnel to add engine oil? I feel like this has been a thing I've in a couple of your videos lately.🤔 Spiders!!!😬
Thanks Craig! And I have gotten pretty good at not using funnels and filling fluids without spilling lol Still have the occasional need for a funnel like filling the gas in this video ;)!
Enjoyed your video on the E30. Glad to see someone still working on them. I have a 86 325 convertible and contemplating if I want to fix it or not, mechanically sound however needs some cosmetic work. Any idea on where to get top and trim parts?
Thanks Jose, the E30 chassis is timeless and will always be cherished...as long as parts are available lol. There aren't too man places to find parts for them anymore, just check marketplace and local salvage yards. Good luck!
I'm consuming all early model bmw content now that I'm working on an e46 of my own. First time taking on a project like this but loving every second. what is the pressure bleeder you're using? i had some issues using a vacuum bleeder when I did my front brakes.
Congrats on the purchase! It's always fun to take on a project on your own. I am using a Schwaben Bleeder in this video, linked in the description! Good luck with the E46!
Can you address cars that have been sitting awhile? Like 6 months to a year? That would be very helpful. Process to make sound engine and all engine and transmission systems. Thank you.
A lot happened lol Most of my viewers didn't show much interest and I got swamped with customer builds while I was waiting on parts for the C10 so customers ended up taking priority. Finishing up the last 2 customer builds right now before I can pick back up on the C10 along with our other personal projects. I will probably just post major updates on the C10 instead of filming the whole process.
I s motor is different vs. A es . Different bigger intake... different cams, different number of cam bearings / different casting head, the list is really long. Denver beer and Oil did a great overview of the differences / how to build a eta motor
E90 manual swaps are pretty straightforward and luckily the parts are still readily available. Double check to make sure you have everything before you start including grommets/connectors/wires. Its best to find a donor car and strip everything out of it, plenty at the LKQ and Pull A part yards. Also you can check on RealOem.com for any parts that you need and for diagrams (just input your year and model but enter "Manual" when asked for trans)
Hey! I would love to pick up an e31, but it would have to be cheap since I would want to do a drivetrain swap and bring it up to modern performance. At 24k i'm assuming its in pretty good condition, so it would be only right for someone that wants to enjoy it in stockish form is able to get it.
Be very careful. These E31's were all low production vehicles, and the vast majority of the owners could NOT keep up with the maintenance on them. On an E31 priced that HIGH, I expect to see EVERYTHING - all keys, brochures, papers, and absolutely all current maintenance records. Three words for you: SCHEDULE TWO MAINTENANCE. This is the 100k maintenance schedule, and it costs a BUNDLE to do on these cars. Expect to pay $10k and UP to have this done PROPERLY. If the seller can't remember which president was in the White House when the car had its most recent oil change, RUN.
@@houseofno That only applies to enthusiasts and regular people someone such as ShopLifeTV would not bother because he is a walking car garage that will keep that thing living on.
It honestly depends on how much other stuff you want to do with it. For example, the cheapest Getrag 260 you will find for the E30 is going to be close to a $1000. Clutch and Lightweight flywheel will cost you another 800 or so. E30 manual driveshaft and pedal set will cost you another 500-1000. So just in parts alone you are already going to be close to 3500-4000 with all of the maintenance items and other odds and ends. It all depends on how cheap you are able to source everything and most shops/individuals will also charge you for sourcing parts if they are not readily available due to how much time sourcing can consume. Every situation is unique so it is hard to put an exact number on it, but you get the idea.
How about a lighting upgrade? Those stupid sealed beam headlights were barely better than driving by candlelight, thanks to USA's antiquated lighting standards. That three speed slushbox definitely throws cold water on that poor M20 inline six.
The south African 325is and 333i versions of the e30 fetch stupid money this side. And the looks of these models is even better!!!! Our 325is was our special edition since we did not get the e30 m3 this side. :(

As an owner of two E30 I really found this interesting. I did my driveshaft center bearing , but the conversion and sump reseal was fun to watch .
Post them all. You and Selena are Pros and a joy to watch!!! Great job!!! Your videos are educational and entertaining.

My first BMW was a 89 325i. Hooked ever since. Awesome car.
Amazing first car to have for sure!
@@ShopLifeTV First of many. Thanks!
E30’s : One of the easiest BMW chassis to work on. Great video! 👍🇨🇦
Thanks! Couldn't agree more! Its just becoming increasingly difficult to source parts
Get your torque on, lol!
Manual conversion makes any car a hundred times more enjoyable. Another amazing vid guys!
Hahaha! The E30 feels right as a manual trans. Once the clutch is broken in the M20 can really be revved out to its full potential! Thanks Rich!
Dude at last you up loaded an E30 Video, much appreciated!!!
Hahaha finally! I told you it was coming!

Great video, I've told people for years it's going to be harder and harder to buy manuals used. Glad you put this info out.
Thanks! It really is getting harder and harder to find. Even parts for manual swaps is becoming difficult to source

love e30 content. bought one for $500 with no experience working on carts. almost have it back on the road

A top craftsman beyond belief. Technical but understandable. Great work and dedication. Well done.
Thank You Joseph! I really appreciate it!
i'll forever miss my 318is, my first love. great vid dude.
Yes finally I've been waiting for E30! I like the introduction and current way of being narrated! Nicely done!
I know right! Glad you enjoyed it man, looking forward to putting out more fun and entertaining content in the near future!

Interesting to see similarities that carried over to the e46
Nice car guys. Thanks for sharing. Dutch regards, Nico.

Hey great video can i ask how do u use the pressure bleeder do u jus pump it then crack the nut to let out the bubbles then tighten again?
What a car
Beautiful
There are no bad angles on the E30 lol
Awesome video!!! Wish I could find a nice e30 like that one. All the ones in Canada are rusty

What did you do with the source of the trans cooler lines? Is there some sort of plug or cut off so it doesn’t leak from the radiator?

did you get rid of it during the conversion???
Any chance you do these swaps for a customer? Curious on cost if so! Thanks

how much would a trans swap cost just shop labor… i got an auto e34 540i 😢

Nothing really said about after the using light flywheel?

a lot more e30 and e36 plzzzzzz
