Oh my god you just unlocked a forgotten memory from 2012-2013. I remember being creeped as hell but at the same time amazed by this game. Glad to see Manly is playing it!
I loved this when I was younger. But I wasn’t good at the puzzles. Going through my internet shock phase, with HTF and that. The graphics still hold up really well and those death scenes damn! Even more brutal in the sequel.
_A truly Grimm tale_ This was a classic - so well done with a nice hand-painted look and great music that really suited the game. Best commentary: "I'm not doing this because I feel like doing it...I'm a completionist. I'm sorry" as Hansel slowly dies, being hit again & again. :D Can't wait for the second part!
This game had the most nerve racking and chilling atmosphere. The style and visuals alone make it so grim and haunting that you feel like you're watching an adult swim cartoon, only much dark and scarier. The mother herself without words but grunts makes you fear for these children. The somber music and tune horned ambient brings that sense of uncertainty. You have no clue what happens or how will it end. These kids are on the run and are all alone, ready to be slaughtered by mother nature's cruelty. It makes you wonder why Disney think it was good to turn grim stories like these into kid-friendly epic tales of magic and fairytale wonder.
why do people seem to say in full Seriously that horror and creepy fairy tales are good for children? thank you Disney for the fact that my psyche is not broken and not clogged with creepy things

Ah yes, I remember playing this game at a young age, thinking it was a harmless cute game, then immediately closing the tab when I saw Gretel's eyes getting picked out by the crow. Good times.
I remember playing this game as a child and noping the fuck out when i saw the dinner course part where Gretel had a tree grow through her because i thought it was a good choice to make her eat cake. That scene made me despise eating it for the next few months because i thought i would meet the same fate later in life

It’s weird that the roles of the kids are reversed. It’s usually Hansel that saves the day. But instead it’s Gretel helping her useless brother. I like it.
I disagree, originally the children are cohesive and work together to achieve their goals, Gretel helps collect stones and breadcrumbs, she unlocked the cage and lured the witch to the cauldron, or in some stories a stove. Hansel drops the crumbs and stones to and helps gretel through the woods, and he pushed the witch into the cauldron, or stove.
